you need a backup software to use this feature. With SystemManager you can only backup to ONTAP S3 or StorageGRID. With NetApp Console Backup and Recovery, you can backup to other providers. Wasabi reportedly also works (as S3 compatible storage)

#

technically you can of course also set it up via CLI but that's neither documented nor supported 🙂

Yep , Wasabi is supported with B&R:
"Wasabi is the only qualified S3-compatible object storage provider at this time. Other S3-compatible providers have not been validated."
"Tested and validated with Wasabi object storage; customers have also reported successful deployments with MinIO and IBM Cloud Object Storage"

With Vault policies you mean if you can keep more backups in the destination than on your source? Yes, that's possible of course.

# open quiver Has anyone used this feature. I just saw it as part of the 9.19.1GA release note...

I have it running upagainst a StorageGrid... I think it has been there for awhile... 9.16.1 at least (just hidden a bit..) but works fine... and you can have vault policies like it's just another snapmirror/vault setup... As I remember, it was a bit of a "faf" to setup back then, requesting licenses etc. from NetApp 🙂 I guess it's becomming more "main stream" in 9.19... (this system is now on 9.17.1, but it was setup on 9.16.1)...
