We have a customer with a few SMAS setups which uses a local mediator server, but we would like to see what it requires to move this to use a Cloud Mediator instead...
Am I right in assuming that you need the ONTAP Console Agent setup somewhere in you setup in order for this to work? Or is that only needed for the setup phase?
Because if it requires the agent, you might as well just use the local mediator as this is then just another dependency 😉 Also this customers doesn't use the Console and most likely will never use it... Can this be setup from the resellers account? (I can see the customers systems in my reseller login...) But it looks like we need the agent to be running at the customer....

No, you don't need a Console agent
You only need to create a NetApp Console organization. And then when adding the mediator provide the organization ID plus the client ID and secret from the service account (needs to be created in Console first). That's it.
I think someone from NetApp mentioned there is a limit of 10 Cloud Mediators per Console org but not sure if that's still valid.
And afaik the Cloud Mediator is currently always hosted in the US-East region.
