Hi guys, today we deployed brand new out of the box aff asa 250 and c250 and during cluster setup from browser both arrays went down. After going back to storage room they both were on warning that nvme battery has no capacity or something. Press c to continue and confirm data loss. Ive seen something like battery has 0 cycles? Or smthn? Devices were shipped just few days ago. Unfortunately they didnt wanted to create cluster from web anymore but cluster setup create/join from cli worked. C250 didnt wanted to allow us login from browser - incorrect password error but it worked from cli. Password and login was ok worked through putty. After 20 minutes it finally allowed us to login from gui. We addresed sp and stopped work. How long it takes battery to charge? Ontap was 9.13.1.p2 and we wanted to update it but it is safe to do it or how much should we wait? How we can check if battery is ok?

This link will be ok? https://kb.netapp.com/onprem/ontap/hardware/How_to_check_the_NVRAM_Battery_status_and_voltage_reading_in_ONTAP which readings should be ok?
Hi there! You should update the BMC on there ASAP - there is a known issue with some revisions of the BMC firmware. An uncharged battery from factory is common
but you should be able to setup on the same day
Thanks! This BMC is inclued in 9.13.1P9? Or should we do it separetly before ontap update?
you want to be on BMC 15.11, which is only included in 9.14.1P4 at this time, but is compatible with all versions of ONTAP supported on that system
so do it before the ONTAP upgrade
Great! Thanks!
Btw is that bug on new 2820 also? We've bought few of them. What kind of bug is this?
I don’t believe it’s on the 2820. The one I thought was battery was to prevent premature failure of the BMC flash.. but at any rate, if there’s weirdness with batteries and the BMC is downrev, upgrade before further troubleshooting
