📢 Come join us tomorrow for the Microsoft Ignite watch party!
I'll be streaming the keynote sessions right here, starting Tuesday at 8:15 AM Pacific/11:15 AM Eastern.
I'll start the stream shortly. It looks like the opening session begins at the :15 minute mark. As long as there's interest, I'll keep it running!
@atomic tendon everything look and sound okay?
Yep, looks fine. Honestly, as much as I chat in Nick's Discord every day, I'm still a relative n00b at this, so just figured out how to pop out the stream window so I could keep chatting here. 🙂
the pop-out does make it a lot more friendly haha
Interesting that they're describing themselves so verbosely. I noticed there is an ASL stream too. Very cool
Yeah, being more inclusive and aware of folks viewing/listening with different abilities is a good thing.
My team runs websites by me from time to time since I'm colorblind, although I think they have tools to check for issues with that too.
it looked grainy but it was my eyes..lol some eye drops and its all good again
I'm beaming 1080p video to ya at about 5 Mbps. Glad it's not me haha
I'm afraid to click anything so I don't break the stream here haha
Not sure what happened there
😐
The Opening Session runs from 11:15-11:45 AM, followed by a short "Cloud Conversations" piece. The next bit is about Hybrid Work
I don't envy the host/MC folks for these types of events. It's one thing to just present or give a talk to a camera, but to try to replicate that almost performer type role for a virtual event seems terrifying.
It's easy for everything to fall flat if you're not a good speaker
or need a nap
On Premise
This sounds pretty cool. When does it become scary though? haha
okay - I see how we can use this in our own Support Org, and I like it
Funny thing is we've been using Planner & Teams for project management for our group for a couple years now, but are moving over to Trello for the actual cards/tasks side of things.
The Microsoft Metaverse
I'm not sure how I feel about this virtual person
FREAKING ME OUT a little
right?
Yeah, I'm not digging it. Maybe I'm too old, or maybe I'm just ... freaked out yeah.
they have no legs
Wow. Yeah, that looks and just feels ridiculous.
the chat is all about "no legs"
and "legs are overrated"
no legs = no butts!
haha
it reminds me of Beetlejuice when they start disappearing (Halloween time)
Inclusive except for legs
no legs = no butts == no hr related incidents
I know my wife has to do more to get ready for Zoom meetings than I do, so I agree that this might appeal more to women for that reason.
Thankfully hr-related incidents never happen from the waist up. 🙂
As a female, I DO really think women might take advantage of this a lot and feel more comfortable. Similar to having a filter on socialmedia. Myself personally I get dressed and ready even wfh most days- but if a meeting gets thrown on my calendar day of w a customer- you are probably getting me in a hoodie and pony tail
man if Cuomo had this...he'd still be the gov
they nailed the 11:45 shift on the schedule
I mean, it's all pre-recorded, but still
As a meteorologist, I know clouds
I really like his glasses.
and i his Jacket
Same
SNACK TIME
i like bimbos
umm i mean snacks
MoT = Mexican of Things. Latinos are always efficient and since there's a bunch of us we're our own mesh network lol
haha wut
Still not loving the changes to the taskbar/start button tho.
"easy to deploy" ummm... not with the TPM requirements
drew doesn't like excel so this guy is full of crap
If I used Windows as my primary OS, I'd probably get used to it more quickly, but as a Mac user, it seems really jarring after Windows 10.
I do wish Apple would get with the program on FaceID on laptops, though. Windows Hello on my Surface Pro (whatever number it is) feels magical still.
I am hearing a lot of companies have SaaS mandates as they realize the real skills gap there is in moving to the cloud. Some of the largest orgs I work with have to prioritize a SaaS solution over everything else and I anticipate hearing that more and more.
WHERE'S THE LEGS
See i need to filter my facial expressions 100%
Surely legs have to be on the roadmap.
Maybe the next gen avatar's will let you apply rules- for example if my face says "WTF?" instead project a smile on my avatar---now that I could use!
I hope you can build your own rooms... you know we'll see Doom rooms if so
Why'd we switch to Viva from Cortana? that happened a couple weeks ago
I thought the notification ahead of the move said that it was more a Microsoft change than anything?
cortana was the assistant everywhere, just like Siri and Alexa
Viva let me know I literally worked way over every day last month and I appreciate it (I think?) Not letting that happen in November.
Yay REI
I had a WebEx this morning. 3 people w audio problems out of 9. I could never get my airpods to both allow me to hear and speak through the Webex.
pieces of flare
Teams isn't my favorite, but anything but webEx
well, webex is absolute trash
<-- i like webex
you would 😉
lol
I see we've picked up a few new viewers. Hi "new" people 🙂
wow mad ted bundy vives with his outfit
Turtle neck guy? I only ever get Steve Jobs vibes w a turtleneck.
🐢
Made it almost a year without WebEx until the state required it for a webinar for health insurance stuff. Couldn't delete it fast enough after.
Webex > Zoom
NOOOOO
I said it and im not ashamed
No way. Especially not for non-technical users.
Disagree 💯%
Heineken began my lifelong relationship with the liquid my friends still tell me if I just drink enough of it, I'll start liking the taste.
I got the Heineken 0.0 in my Fab Fit Fun Fall Box actually
Been meaning to give it a try
^didn't expect it in a "woman's beauty/exercise" type subscription for sure
Getting a Heineken in The Netherlands is a very different experience than here in the US. They're judged on how they pour and there's a competition for the best pour
i connect with a case of them every weekend
throw in some redbulls and im hyperconnected
🙂
Diesel!!!
btw: If the audio starts acting up, @ me so I can restart
Do you have some Heineken at Schiphol for some after work drinking? 😄
Maybe you can name one of the next ONTAP versions Heineken 😉
WebEx sucks. I don't mind Teams because I have to use it anyway.
I called to renew my Sirius sub last week and they had one of these "conversational IVRs" running. It worked pretty well, except I had some other questions and wanted to negotiate more. The human was able to do that and I was happy
Up next (15 minutes): Innovate Anywhere From Multicloud to Edge
Yes, Walgreens. Please actually store my insurance information instead of having to enter it every time I'm there and wasting your time and mine, and that of others in line.
We can call it "personalization"
Mine was all saved @thorny pivot
Mine should have been ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I got my covid booster last week at Walgreens. I haven't gotten prescriptions there for years, maybe more than a decade. They had all my insurance info handy. Helps to have worked for the same employer for so long I guess.
Same- I didn't expect them to have my info when I got my first Covid shot bc I use CVS for Rx, but they did (and then I remembered I got a flu shot there when I dropped in for something else and it was less weird)
Hearing multicloud in a meeting w AWS or Azure is a huge change over the last year. Before they would essentially want us to skip that part of the NetApp PCS story. Now it isn't a dirty word anymore.
Is it just me or is the stream cutting out?
Seems fine for me
good for me too
Wow, haven't seen an actual Polo shirt for a long time. Just now noticed it.
And Discord just crashed for me. Weird, haven't seen that before.
Nick's crashed while he was streaming Insight the other week
It was kinda graceful - just dropped the stream window and reloaded the app GUI in the main window. Not too painful.
sentinel n defender names give me big matrix machine city vibes
same
I think we'll wrap up here at 2:05
there's a break from then until 2:30, where they do a wrapup and then start breakouts
Any breakouts look really interesting to you?
There's a windows 11 adoption breakout at 2:30 that I could drop in here
I'm also intrigued by the stuff they showed today with Dynamics
Of particular interest to me (and my team) will be Loop. There isn't much else on that right now
https://myignite.microsoft.com/sessions/27b4aeb9-ba89-403c-9cdf-4c629eb538c1?source=sessions more multicloud info is something I think is relevant to me as a NetApp, multicloud person
I'd like to see more on Loop
Appears ot be mostly Azure Arc related on the multicloud
Anything y'all want me to stream here from this list 👇
It doesn't matter to me.
I think cybersecurity and multicloud are most broadly relevant topics probably?
I encourage everyone to register and hit up the on-demand content later
well shit NetApp IT will add that to our macs now as well
^I'm still trying to get in all my Insight content 😕
Yeah, I'm reviewing the list of sessions now. I have a few in my backpack but nothing for a while.
How is this thing different than Intune?
Maybe Microsoft Ignite Into Focus bc it is sort of a recap of everything from 2:30-3?
but again- idc
I'm good with that one
That's what I had in my schedule - the Into Focus session
all of the breakouts (and the Focus session) are scheduled at the same time
I have 3 at 230 and then not another one of interest until 330
I mean, I could
I'll stream Ignite into Focus and that'll be it for the day. How'zat?
Looks like we've got about a 20 minute break. Go stretch and refresh your 🥤
I'm intrigued by Loop. I keep trying to pour myself into OneNote, and I DO use it for some things, but it's never become my everything bucket like it is for some people.
I have a ton of stuff in OneNote. I've even got a button on my Stream Deck to launch it
I'm going to get in 15 minutes on the treadmill. Back soon
dude is getting emails on his iphone and the alerts are recorded too 😕
bing
I am also very interested in Loop. I have started creating a Teams chat for most larger projects I am a part of so we maintain version consistency and everyone knows where to find everything- but there is still something missing, I can't quite put finger on it and I think it might be what Loop brings to the table (or is trying to).
haha
are they manuals or the boxes?
Need to get the guy on the right a splash of bold color.
It is interesting to see the backgrounds people choose for conversations. I am guessing he is not at his desk, which makes me think his desk area is a mess (all assumptions, shouldn't judge book...I know I know :))
Maybe next year everybody will be doing these using their creepy legless avatars?
Heck yeah, I haven't cleaned my home office since Zoom/Teams introduced virtual backgrounds.
I think this wraps it up, y'all
another reason WebEx sux
Yep - thanks for streaming this, Drew.
aidos!
Take care, folks
