This is a pretty great video and comes with a nice nod to NetApp.

I wonder if there's still a FAServer around somewhere... I'd love to get the software/firmware off of it and plug it into an emulator 😄

shy river
#

Hitz prob still has a copy somewhere. I went on a bit of a crusade a few years ago to archive old stuff like that. RTP has most of the bezels, and I’m not sure if the OG source code is still around

the oldest OS I could manage to find was ONTAP 4.something I think, a few years ago when that was still on the download servers. Haven't managed to extract the firmware for the old F75 etc. yet though...

#

the Alpha machines are also tricky as there's no good existing emulator for the Alpha

I found a copy of 2.1.3 and 3.0 on an ollld and dusty part of our dev network 🤣

We were calling it FASware at the time it seems

This looks like the one used in the video

The comments stated as such. I think it looks really cool!

#

And I am interested how they were able to so easily transition from hydraulics to electric.

#

Boston Dynamics had a blooper real for the retirement of the Atlas Mk1 platform.

#

It was clearly just a development platform, it was too big and bulky to be useful in any other context.

#

Also I noticed that their sensor package has been compacted into the head, instead of a lidar device plus cameras.

#

I wonder if they are still using a lidar device in the head, or if its just various cameras and sensors now.

# serene turret Boston Dynamics had a blooper real for the retirement of the Atlas Mk1 platform.

For almost a decade, Atlas has sparked our imagination, inspired the next generations of roboticists, and leapt over technical barriers in the field. Now it’s time for our hydraulic Atlas robot to kick back and relax. Take a look back at everything we’ve accomplished with the Atlas platform to date.

It might be a blooper reel, but it's still damn impressive.

I like how they had to reinforce the hydraulic connections because the robot was so heavy it would pop the seals and spray hydraulic fluid all over like a theater kid discovering fake blood for the first time.

ha. yeah, I was amused by that too.
