It was down some hours ago (together with kb.netapp.com)... It's back up again but now there are errors everywhere...
Can't create cases because no systems are found.
@tired wind hmmm im trying to login now and its slooooow
Let me know if it's still a problem. @sleek wadi FYI
oh and i'm on internal netapp vpn atm
Smartsolve is also not loading....
this no gud 😦
same with https://smartsolvecm.netapp.com/.... don't you use that too @grizzled flower ?
i think we have power issues at the RTP office
woopsie
James' team is working on it folks.
The Support Site (and other tools) should be stable now.
I'm new to netapp devices, I have 2 NAJ-0801's connected the following way: HBA to Square on NAJ-0801(1) to Circle NAJ-0801(1) to Square NAJ-0801(2). I'm using it as a JBOD everything works and detects unless I put a drive in the first bay (bay0) of either NAJ-0801. If I do it preboot the HBA never initializes, and if I do it while in the OS it locks the server up. I can't find anything online and I am just wondering if anyone has ran into this. I've tried multiple disks, my next step would be a new HBA. All other 46 disks show up and are hot-swappable as well with no problem. Any help would be appreciated!
You are probably better off in r/homelab if you are using this in anyway other than with a proper controller.
Good afternoon, someone can help me i have one error on 7 mode my storage is on version 8.1.4p1 FAS 2040
I can't access my storage via SSH or Oncommand system manager.
I already performed the steps: options httpd.access *
options httpd.admin.enable on
options httpd.admin.ssl.enable
and after running these commands I can't access my storage via SSH or oncommand.
If you would, drop this question in #1062049169520476220 so it can be tracked a little better.
Good morning, since the web support system has been changed: https://mysupport.netapp.com/site/global/dashboard
I can NOT access my products or register new cases or incidents.
Hey @frank moth if you're having login issues, submit a non-technical case (does not require login) so our helpdesk team can take a look - https://mysupport.netapp.com/site/help?categoryname=CAT_169
Hi Ross, Yes I have technical problems, but I can't create a case because when I log in it doesn't recognize me or my products.
If you require technical support for an issue with your NetApp solution you are free to still call our hotline.
If you just need help resolving your login issues then my suggestion regarding the non-technical case is the best path forward.
Thanks Ross, I just sent it
Has NetApp come out with support with the new LTO 9 tape drives? I am currently running a FAS-2750 with ontap 9.10 .1P10.
Weird, I wonder why my netapp is saying not supported device.
I haven’t done tape in such a long time, is the tape configuration file still a thing you need to update?
I’m going to assume that’s all in the ONTAP release now.
But it also says:
If the tape device configuration file is already built into ONTAP, the configuration File for that drive will not be used, and a warning is generated. For a list of supported or built-in tape drives, go to http://mysupport.netapp.com/matrix/. Remove configuration files from /mroot/etc/tape_config that show native support in the ONTAP version installed on your storage system.
Newbie to this group... qq home lab question. Any advice on setting up a netapp device for home lab use? I've did a very very brief search on ebay etc but not sure about specifics or licensing. THanks in advance!
Be weary buying off eBay. The licensing is not transferable. So if you bought a system. Didn’t have keys. You couldn’t call netapp and get them.
ya the grey market would be "better" for that but if you just wanna learn you could get OTS or a vSIM way cheaper than buying a physical system
Appreciate the recommendation(s)
Yea I'm seriously new 🙂 didn't know there was a vSIM. Worked with Netapp in 2010...that was the last time.
Hey Y'all,
Trying to upload a tape config file to an isolated NetApp/Network.
I have to file on the network and my local workstation.
The only command I can find is
Storage tape config-file get -url
I've tried multiple different syntax to include below.
Storage tape config-file get -url file://nas1/filepath.../filename.TCF
Http://nas1.fqdn/filepath.../filename.TCF
Hey @naive sun throw this in a post in the #1062049169520476220 forum. This channel is for general support around discord and our various support sites and services.
Hi everyone.
Trying to find the inconsistent file snapshot copies
is this command tells me the snapshot copies available?
snap list -f <file name>
Hi @neat vapor I suggest you ask your question in the #1062049169520476220 forum channel. That would be a more accurate place for your query.
thanks
Nice to meet y'all!
I was recently given an FAS-3240 and a DS4243 shelf, and I'm trying to wrap my head around setting them up.
They have been used before, so I would like to restore these to factory defaults, if there is a way.
I've seen some guides online that said I would have to wire them in a specific way, but I don't see anything regarding just the FAS-3240 and DS4243 shelf.
I guess my questions are:
- How do I wire these units together/set them up?
- How would I go about factory restoring them?
Any help is appreciated, Thank you :)
these are the units in question (above: DS4243 Below: FAS-3240)
Hey, welcome to the NetApp Community Discord. So your post may have been better in the #1062049107096633454 given its a hardware related query for a FAS 3240. With that being said, you may get better help from folks over at the /r/homelab subreddit as this Discord is primarily intended for active customers/partners with supported NetApp systems.
The FAS3240 stopped being solid in Nov 2013, and was end of support in Dec 2018.
If the current controller is still configured and has a license on it, then you can still use it, but if you wipe it or factory reset it, you would likely lose the license, and it's not something you would be able to get access to again (requires active entitlement to get a license). There is likely 3rd party sites which might have information on how to cable it up.
The disk shelves can be used on their own as a JBOD configuration, but again /r/homelab would have more info on how to do that.
Will do, thanks for the help!
Good morning! I'm trying to find a contact that can assist with a NetApp/Certmetrics problem. I recently passed a certification exam and I'm trying to register with Certmetrics to tie the cert to a partner. Unfortunately, every time I try to register, the e-mail appears to contain an invalid token ID.
Have you emailed ncp@netapp.com yet? if not. start there.
Thanks, I'll start there!
Hi! English is the primary language in this Discord
how to add a new node to an existing cluster?
physically, I have already connected everything, it remains to change the IP address on the new node and add it to the existing cluster
Please ask this in one of the #1062048587577565214 forums channels.
Hello guys...
I have CIFS share with block inheritance NTFS ...
is there any way to cahnge it via CLI with NetApps admin user ?
Hey Crit, this is our general support for Discord and other websites. Post your question in the #1062049169520476220 forum, please.
And welcome to the community!
Is the FieldPortal down atm?
Yes. The team is aware and are working on it. I’ll keep a watch for the internal ticket to be updated.
just worked for me @tired wind
The ticket was updated about 8 minutes ago to show that the issue is resolved.
anyone remembers where to find historic autosupport-data on the aiq/mysupport site?
How historic do you want it?
AIQ has three months of ASUPs I think, if you're talking about the raw ASUPs
with SmartSolve you should be able to go back two years
three months would be ok
and yes, raw asup is what i am after
but the "oldschool" stuff is well hidden haha
@elder marlin If you login to our Digital Advisor tool (aiq.netapp.com) then look up a specific cluster or node, then you should be able to access the AutoSupport option on the left menu.
Hey ross, thank you - yes now i found it. I think i looked at a node that dropped out of support when i could not find it...
Yup makes sense, any nodes that are 30 days past expiry date will stop showing up in Digital Advisor.
our cluster is in a weird condition at the moment, some nodes dropped out, others are supported. everything to make the life of a toasteradmin more interesting.
@astral thorn
Hello everyone, I am looking for in-person Netapp training for my system admins. Any particular opportunities to show setuping a NetApp stack especially concerning backup solutions for it? I did review the available courses on the NetApp site but it seems to be focused on particular sole aspects. Any references would be much appreciated. The class has to be in the US.
Moving you down here. We have several folks in here from Learning Svcs that can assist.
Thank you Nick
back when I was a customer we used Fastlane for this kinda thing - https://www.fastlaneus.com/netapp-training. they are one of our training partners.
Thank you, unfortunately only Europe location options from that particular company.
huh. I didn't notice that (change). Let me ask the NLS folks monday to see what others are US. - looks like us training was moved in house.
When NCDA certification expires, must one take NS0-003 and NS0-162? Or just NS0-162?
the NCTA expires separately. So if only your NCDA has expired, you just need to re-take that one. I think the only ones that auto-refresh others are the NCIE ones, those refresh the NCDA
Correct. The NCIE (San or DP) will refresh the NCDA. The NCTA is separate.
Is your NCTA a partner requirement?
My NCTA expired a month before my NCDA (since it was taken first).
Can you please confirm is this CVE-2023-38408 affected NA BOX : 3.3 (2023-07-25) Version ?
Hi @severe locust Please post your question in the #1062050414146625536 channel.
Bit of a heads up - we are having some technical issues with our support site
ah ok, good to know; i've been trying to login for about 2 hours now 🙂
Learning now it’s a bit more widespread than just the support site. It’s being worked on priority with plenty of attention.
Hello, anyone had this issue with fusion?
I cannot import from AIQ one netapp cluster but others work fine.
The covered green lines in the image are serial numbers; some of them are no longer part of said cluster.
The resolve error button only gives me the option to remove from project
I guess Fusion will fetch the latest weekly ASUPs for a cluster so if you add SNs of nodes which are decommissioned that's shouldn't work.
Or does it happen when you add it with the cluster name?
I've tried both using the cluster name and serial with the same results
Are ASUPs uptodate?
yep; autosupport history shows sent-successful and I can see the asups in activeiq
Just did a test on a random cluster. and all good. I'll second check your ASUP history.
you can also just check the cluster in AIQDA and see the ASUP history.
What models are these?
Also check if the nodes still show up here and then decommission them if they are not used anymore: https://mysupport.netapp.com/site/systems/mine
So looking at this it looks like digital advisor thinks previous nodes are still part of the cluster.
Older fas2650 pair and affa700 heads we swapped out for a900's
I'll try this, thanks
I'm probably the only one in the world using this but the template virtual machine in the "Deploy and Protect Microsoft Hyper-V with NetApp ONTAP" does not exist. (Unless something went wrong when spinning up the lab)
This is the Lab on Demand; forgot to mention that
Do you have a location in the lab guide where the machine is mentioned? I can get the team to look into it.
There's this note on the lab overview page. Is this related? NOTE: We are working to resolve an issue on the template that prevents the VM to appear in the hyperv cluster. The temporary workaround is to open up Failover Cluster Manager, go to Node and evict the jumphost. Then re-add it. After both nodes are healthy, the lab guide should work as prescribed.
It might have been some jank related to the screen updating; once I move the folder window the contents appeared
Looks like the docker image for config advisor has not been updated for 2 years despite the below message.
https://mysupport.netapp.com/site/tools/tool-eula/activeiq-configadvisor
Config Advisor 6.7.2 is also available on Docker:
Docker: https://hub.docker.com/r/netapp/config-advisor/
Updated about 2 years ago
Active IQ Config Advisor 6.5
@fathom minnow is this something we can get updated?
well it's 6.7 at least, not 6.5, so it's not that bad... but still, 2 years without updates is a lot ...
This is true; better than 6.5 🙂
Is there a way for me to see older autosupport for a cluster that is still running; but not have a support contract anymore?
Cant seem to "find" it in activeiq
Depends on how old it is I believe, they are auto deleted after a while, not sure what the time frame is but at one point it was like 13 months or something
Do you have access to Smartsolve?
Hello, can anyone help this?
what are you needing help with exactly
If you mean the "power is on" message, as the message states it will take a bit until the power status is updated. Try the command again and it should show the system is powered off.
If you need help powering it back on, a simple "system power on" should be all you need.
What system/model is that ?
Please take this question to one of the Support/Questions channels. Perhaps #1062049169520476220?
Is there an API for PartnerHub that we partners can access? If so, where can I find documentation about it?
like for searching things or getting metadata and data out of it?
Doubtful, but let me ask.
Are Asup create case automation?
My subscription included case automation feature but when I test unplug disk and some port, it doesnt create any case even still received message on AIQ.
there is a lot of logic in place to not create cases if maintenance is detected. Send an autosupport with the symptom "test" that should reply back to you (it will not create a case however).
So... IMT has been migrated? What is CloudOne? Did I just not get the memo? 😄
no link to the new site, simply trying to go to "cloudone.netapp.com" doesn't let me log in...
I have that information bar as well but the rest of the site is as usual below it.
Is that not loading for you?
no, I only get that bar, nothing else
I tried clearing cookies already but that didn't help
but thanks for the hint, it seems an overzealous uBlock was to blame in my case. Disabling ad blocking has fixed it
CloudOne is the datacenter for NetApp-hosted applications. I think they should make that email address a little smaller in the info bar though 😆
Hopefully there are never any ads on our own sites!
yeah, but with default settings of uBlock I never had any issues before. Now I whitelisted the IMT and it's all good
HWU seems to be broken again. This error pops up as soon as you select a product
Whoops. I'll message them now
it's probably something related to cookies. My coworker got it to work by clearing cookies, but for me it still doesn't work (although it works in an incognito tab)
It's working for me too
XCP license site appears to be dead again
Just dies after logging in? yeahhh let me message them
504 gateway time-out
I see the same issue. Already messaged them 🙂
site still seems to be down
Ouch. I just messaged again
Where can I report issues with SmartSolve? The feedback links don't work for NetApp partners.
I think you can open a non-technical support ticket on the support site and report it there. If you want to send me some of the info, I’ll look into it as well.
Thanks I will try
So question as I am feeling rather stupid right now. Is there an issue with ova downloads for NABox?
I guess you're getting the same 502 error I just did when testing?
Let me check

how many people seriously send any of these scammers messages.. really
I’d make fun of them if they did
Trying to open a case on MySupport for an issue with the SMI-S Provider and there is no case category that includes SMI-S as an option, as can be seen here: https://mysupport.netapp.com/site/info/case-categories
So what category do I use? I don't want to get bounced between 13 different techs doing the "Not My Department" dance...
amusingly it seems the problem I've run into may be because the batch file used to manage SMI-S Provider is... broken in modern windows
imagine that
We're migrating our datacenters to Hyper-V/SCVMM from VMware and through this process we started using the SMI-S Provider with SCVMM 2022. I noticed today that all easy to find references to SMI-S Provider are missing from the NetApp Support site... They can still be found through search, but are...
I'm "CharlesCPC" - That's my thread from last year. SMI-S Provider was brought back to life in April this year (as seen by the post from nirajj) - but it doesn't say anything other than "Here's the updated documentation and here's the download link"
That may need to be a non-tech case on the support site, @odd yarrow
https://mysupport.netapp.com/site/help
Make sure you’re logged in before you do it, and send me your case number if you feel stuck anywhere. I’ll go chase it down for you.
@lethal bramble have you seen anything like this?
Yeah. Unfortunately there are a few products that you need basically “best guess” for a category selection. Definitely do not make a non tech case when it clearly is.
I suspect the best bet might be the virtualization group. Type in “virt” to the category selection box and start there
For SMI-S cases use Storage Management Software and SMI-S Provider. Or at least that's what it is on my end.
if you like, ping me the case number and I'll make sure it made it to my team.
nevermind. i just saw the page with what you see.
FAS > OnCommand > Active IQ Unified Manager will get it to us and we'll correct it on our side for the tech case.
Thanks Dawn!
so.. just started a new job, company is heavy in netapp (yay me) and I need to get my account setup for access, but my manager/etc literally went on vacation the day I started and wont be back for 10 days.
What do i need to get my account tied to everything so i can start updating/etc
Cause some of these are way past due for an update... ONTAP 8.3.1 for crying out loud, esh
yea, this thing has 860 drives attached to a 4node cluster and lots of them are 'broken'
https://mysupport.netapp.com/site/user/registration
Did you already create a new NSS account with yoru new email?
trying, but it's asking for site info and other stuff I dont currently have access to
It should just be address info and a serial number (hopefully with an active contract)? I forget what all happens on those next few pages
there are active contracts, but the company has several different names/addresses. i'll try pulling a serial number up
We know you... DM me one if there's something I might can look up to get you moving along sooner
lol, what? you know me.. hows that possible 😄
im sure i have a file there somewhere
and i'm the 'oh crap, him again' list
thanks, account is there, just waiting for everything to kick in
I'll see if I can push it along
If you have any SSDs on that platform, evacuate the data before you attempt any upgrade or before a power cycle.
I had a few customers with older systems that were actually on 8.2. I went though the upgrade process to get current in order to allow ONTAP to migrate to a new platform
Nearly every ssd went belly up on the firmware updates likely due to a power cycle to set the firmware
