Router or Modem (0 ping)

Hi everyone, I need help right now I have 25 ping in-game and I use a modem in my meter cupboard with ethernet cable all the way to my room. I want to change that and get 0 ping my friend has 0 ping and uses a also an ethernet cable and his modem or router is in his room. Someone who can help me choose between a modem or router with ethernet cable.

You should get same ping as him if he does

ping consist of how near you live to the server and the speed plays only a small role
