Generaly want to try and get a good amount of recipies unlock for all occasions. The "Ideal Augment setup" if you will. ifllowed advice here for setup of workbences if that helps:

Home 1: Mortar, Enchanter, Loom, Sewing Bench
Home 2: Crafting, Masonry Bench, Tanning Station, Saw Table
Home 3: Smelting and Storage.

Also unrelated question: am i missing any other crafting benchaes and if so where should they go

Here is a list of the augments and what they do for each station

While i'm sure that's helpful, it's not really what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a ideal setup of augments that has as many recipies and buffs as possible.

It's kind of trial and error to be honest. I spent a good bit of time moving augments back and forth and came up with a good setup that gives all the passive buffs. When I get on later I'll make a list of the ones I used on what stations. For recipes, I usually store all the extra ones in a particular area and just move it to the required station when I need a certain recipe. Since you have them separated it will be easier.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Q7DD8SXNZ4-qdoh6TkT7zrrMEcE2ii5QGG9Gyyqt5IM/edit#gid=72311298 this has a tab that shows best setup found. You can tweak augments as needed based on the recipes you want to craft. Note is the same name as the other doc linked, but a different document altogether

The fact alone that there are so many different augments and ways to play the game "wrong" because i still havent figured out how the frick to craft specific weapons and gear etc. leaves me unmotivated to play the game.

If i have to decide to play either complicated nightingale or have fun in Helldivers, Last Epoch or whatever else, guess what ill do.... Its not that i dont like complexity in crafting and survival games. But these Augments and the fact that every type of ressource has 10 different variants is too much for me after work... i want to chill not continue working... Tell me when youve found the ideal "base" setup. Until then i dont think ill play much nightingale.

The question: "why is there a building limit" got answered with: "youre not supposed to build giant bases in a single realm". WHY do you make the crafting so hard and difficult then...?!

#

I dont know what to do anymore i really love the riddles and the combat and exploring but the crafting and base management..... really sad

i mean ill be honest you dont NEED to use the best set ups. you can do all end game content with not min/maxed gear... and with min/maxed gear its very very easy. So i wouldnt look at it as a wrong way. I just found that in another thread, but have never run into an issue using my ""sub-par"" gear

The problem i have right now is that iam building a new base out of stone to abandon my wooded scrap base. I dont want to hire 2 people just to manage the base now and then. They may add craft from storage later which is nice but currently it feels like you have to upgrade or change your base everytime you want to craft something different. I want to build the stations ONCE add the most usefull Augments ONCE(until i find upgrades) and leave the base to "use only". Right now i cant even build the interior of my base because i dont know which augements to add to which bench without getting another scrappy base or reach the aug limit

#

Iam working 10-12h a day as a cook/chef. If i come from work and have to think about playing something to turn brain off or "this" its easy to let go of nightingale and thats sad.

#

I spent almost the same amount of time in my base then i was on adventures

#

At the moment i have placed a workbench with 8 augments in one room in my house and there my motivation ends. I hope you can help me in some way. I login, see empty new base, get confused because everything is complicated, then quit game again and do something else. i really need to upgrade my gear right now thats why i cant to something else

may i ask how far into the game you are?

You have reached end game then. You can run vaults or ascended realms to gather mats and essence to craft better gear. If you don’t like that aspect then maybe pause and come back once it has cooked a bit more.

this breakdown format is really helpful and clarifying, thank you!

#

my wish is that I would not have to open the codex and pretend I'm about to build another instance of some workstation in order to see what augments are compatible with that kind, or else use move mode with an already-built augment and workstation to see if they link up. sort of an inverse version of the Inspect option, or perhaps updating that display to say "the following augments are applicable [and you know how to build them] but not currently present: x, y, z"

#

just-in-time discovery in-game would be a lot better than needing to reach out to (excellent) community-created guides that can grow stale with game updates.

So not too add more fuel to the fun, but the game's codex doesn't even provide complete information on the augmentations. For instance, none of the augmentations I've found so far (I still need a few of them!) show that they augment the alchemical boiler in any way. If you look at @neon cliff information above they only list one item to augment the table with. There are acutally a significant number of items that will provide potions. Here is a snapshot of what I've found and the ones in yellow I have active. I don't use sneak so I left off the Veiled Potions (since the table can only have 6 attachments at a time for the top tier Boiler):

was this one at all discoverable in-game? I think I did it on a few items entirely by accident

There are a couple of threads on this in community guides here on discord. I've set mine up using t3 augmentations when possible, modified the spreadsheets in the community guides (https://discord.com/channels/854679517997695016/1213184454965731358, https://discord.com/channels/854679517997695016/1212710591060254750) to show the buffs and recipes the augmentation has on a station so I can make sure it's working... Looks like this...
