so i kinda have the same issue... except im able to travel back but i just spawn on a block under the watch basicly in the void is it a common issue atm? (i unlocked the watch like 2 hours ago and went and crafted some upgrades tools and now when i go back i get put on a block under the map lol)

Open different realm ( not any abeyance ) that you already visited, turn to fae portal machine and reopen portal. I do not know how it works but in returned me to my realm. My base was in forest. After falling problem i had new forest map. But when i reopened portal from another realm, my old forest realm loaded where my base was

Ok, I just jumped the plank and teleported to the watch. I had solid ground beneath my feet but I spawned dangerously close to the edge of the walkway people arrive at. So it might be mitigated by a server restart but I am pretty sure that in time you will be once again spawned into oblivion

Hey guys, I have an update aside from one from last night I'll be pinning. (long post incoming, please be patient with the helpers, and read through all the stuff while you wait)

  1. Steph made an announcement sort of on this issue:
    "Working on some workaround messaging, but for now if they're able to get into your Realm, they should be able to get back into their Abeyance by using a Portal with Realm Cards/settings that match their original Respite Realm. This means the same Biome + Abeyance Card + Difficulty level.
    Player logs in a #tech-support would also really help"

  2. I'll be compiling all the information about where to respond to a topic on the forums, as well as a post with instructions on the only temporary fix we know of. AND its warning.

  3. If you've run into this issue, please please pleaseeeee be careful if you go to the Watch. You can make personal portals at your home to do vaults once you've gotten back. I know this stinks with the NPC traders not being able to be talked to.

  4. I'll be merging pinned posts to reduce the amount of information sent. As well as explaining why the temp fix works (I've seen some questions on this)

  5. Keep in mind, I'm just a discord mod (not dev), these updates will be mostly my data I've seen.
    The players assisting you can not help with official issues. They can only help get you out and try to get you home.

  6. I'm 90% sure it's the Watch server itself causing issues, but the devs are aware it's still happening to certain regions. I've helped people in EU, SA, and AUS.

  7. IF your home is not in an abeyance as is usually required, but some people have a bug to build outside of it, you will need to figure out what card combo you played from an abeyance realm and open portals that way.

STEPS HELPERS NEED YOU TO DO EXACTLY AND WHY

  • Provide your name (ingame) for party invite. (This allows you to get to realm)
  • Tell the Biome + abeyance you live in. (so cards can be given)
  • Take materials from chest and craft the crude portal. (Realm portal has issues, this is just an extra measure to avoid people getting set to someone elses realm)
  • Make sure it's set to the difficulty you had it in the bottom left before opening. (This allows it to match your stored data)
  • Double check you are home. (Open map to find markers you've placed or home locations)
  • Demolish your Estate Cairn. Place it outside, away from any branches, plants, trees, rocks, etc. Hold E and triple check it's get to "Respite" (This has to be done to make sure respite it reset)
  • Leave party. (as final confirmation you're home)
  • Do NOT go back to The Watch, or travel anywhere until you do the Cairn step above. (See reason below for not going to the watch)
    If there's an error they will loop you back.

WARNING You will lose your follower. Sadly this is a side effect of this issue. IMO better to get a new follower who's wiped than to lose your base. You will find a "copy" of your follower in your realm walking around, with new clothes and empty inventory as if you've never recruited them.

WHY THIS WORKS
Realms are tied to players.
By "building" the portal you establish a connection.
By you, placing the cards into the portal, you finalize the connection to old card combos you've played previously.
This is stored on Inflexions servers.

It's a SUPER long way around the bug, but if there's still issues, after all this, the devs need player logs to find out why its happening.

Kind reminder to not go back to the watch, lest you find yourself in the same situation until the devs work out the cause from player logs.

If anyone has commented on the thread listed in the pins, please make sure to update your comment, and let them know you made it home, but can't go back, and fixing cairn sort of helps.

I really think it's something that broke with the Watch and the amount of people going in, which sadly, you can't super account for in small scale testing.

It had seen the issue maybe 4 times before last night, and it was always fixed the easy way.
IE. Can't travel home, port them to my house, "return to respite" shows on their map.

But last night/this morning, somethings WAYYYY off.
Super different, and completely annoying.

Imho its "Okay" that this happens. The game is EA and we are on the base grid of its content. At least we are not bound to redo a character or realm because new Bioms are invented and have to be shoved into a newly generated world.
So far: It sucks but thats Early access. I am surprised we had no bigger game breakers so far.

There is also a weird floating block underneath the watch that if you relog and spam Spacebar you can climb on and stand on. Won't help in any way to get out of the situation though.

the known working fix is someone invites you to their realm, you build a portal, insert the stargate runes and travel to your respite

My Inventory reverted / resetted itself. I clearly remember to have dropped everything in my DropBox Chests before i created the Area for the Help. Suddenly my whole loot from the Vault Run was back and i lost the Titanium i mined while i was idle.

Open different realm ( not any abeyance ) that you already visited, turn to fae portal machine and reopen portal (not new cards reopen). I do not know how it works but in returned me to my realm. My base was in forest. After falling problem i had new forest map. But when i reopened portal from another realm, my old forest realm loaded

I can't add more than I posted in the bug thread really, I fell under the bridge but above terrain earlier in the night and could port out, and spawned after apex vaults multiple times wedged into the rail on the right side. I assumed it was some kind of safe spawn correction if too many people were at spawn, like finding a near good location. The white cube under the terrain will be an actor of some sort, it would either be at world 0,0,0 when no valid spawn can be set, or the game sees that cube as a safe spawn when everything else is too busy perhaps. I can only speculate though and could be wildly wrong.

You need to craft your own Crude Portal and put in the Abeyance Card and boime that your home is in, make sure to set the correct difficulty and "Reopen Portal" should appear.
If you made more than one Abeyance realm let us know, because there's extra steps

Sadly your companion will be at your base, but fully reset with new/old gear and recruitable. A note to keep in mind, they scale with you, so just in case more issues happen with them, don't put to much good things on them.

Same as Endus... i go to many Apex Vaults one time falling was relocated after restart the game. I spawnd 3-4 times near the the first NPC in the Watch, on the right Side of the Hallway. The yesterday morning im endless falling. Relogg an all other Options dont work. I created a new Char, to eventuelly chance unknown things but noting worked.

if you are having trouble finding home:
travel somewhere else that is familiar to you, somewhere you recently went e.g. ascended forest astrolabe
when you get there, turn around and "reopen portal" on the big fae portal you just came in with
this should get you back to your base, it worked for me and one other who had rolled multiple abeyance realms before declaring a "home"

Was this mainly an EU issue? I don't think Katari was asking for region specific info earlier, so that would definitely help including that in all of your reports (and if you're on wifi, vpn, etc).

It was mainly a lighthearted joke at the fact quite a few people had mentioned they thought it was mainly an EU server issue. I've already reported it from my end with all the various logs etc. Bit disappointing but at least we can make vault realms from our home realms

ok, tested for over 2 hours now:
if u leave the vault with port to respite instead of using portal
i could port to watch and enter next vault without problem multiple times
yesterday with using portal i always ended falling from watch
dunno if i'm just lucky today or it's somehow caused by using portal from vault
just to let u guys know if u need to get to open vaults

Thankfully not seeing any reports of people falling out of the Watch post-patch, seems to just be a few lost souls still in limbo from before that might find their way here.
I'm confused as to what's causing the removal of respites set and followers to dismiss, it's likely why a simple fail-safe like a teleporting volume under the world wouldn't be a quick and easy fix.
A little busy myself for the next 20h but I'm happy to help out with rescues over the weekend!

Which is leading me to believe it's a two-fold issue.

  1. Spawn issue falling through the Watch (which seems to be fixed since patch, as the people coming in are residual from the other night)
  2. Cairn breaking for what ever reason when they're not home.

Same outcome, same problem, different effect and same "work around"

So I'm wondering if it's the cairn itself.
Maybe when people aren't home, the carnute knocks a tree and damages it?
Or maybe a resource like rocks respawned.
Or a team mate moves it and breaks the connection.

That's so bizzare, I can't think of any reason why it would unlink like that, because they aren't being physically broken, they are still there when people return home (just not linked).
Something about travelling to the Watch is causing that connection to sever, and it's killing the companions too. I don't envy the devs on this one lol, that's a proper brain teaser.

With the new update it prepares your realm in advance when you hit travel to respite, so maybe when the servers were having issues in EU, or bad/slow connections in other regions, it puts you in that queue and then after you re-establish with the server, your original request to travel to respite is gone... and the option is grayed out since there is some pending request somewhere that it isnt able to find.

I even had them try the suggested leave from respite, not the end portal mentioned, and it was still greyed out for them 😦

Np, I'm a little occupied today also. Just doing some reading now to get a better understanding of it but not sure tbh, not seeing any hard reports of it. By the sounds of it, there are players at the Watch, not stuck, but no travel options. Not sure if they ran into problems previously or not.
I am seeing one or two reports of people spawning close to the railing still, so the spawn itself doesn't seem to be fixed, and my guess is that when it really craps out, it's unlinking respites and killing companions.
So, that's what we all experienced when we fell out of the world but we were so concerned with getting pulled out that we missed the root of the problem.

it kinda seems like, from the videos ive seen of people falling in the watch, that they spawn like 30 feet to the left of the normal bridge spawn in the air, and it is sort of a similar position you spawn into inside of the rock in the vaults.

The Watch will be the busiest single spawn point so that's where problems will be exacerbated

and I've stood on the spawn point in the watch before and multiple people seem to stack together no problem. But I wonder if there is a limit, like 10 people are stacked together, then it starts trying to move people to a less crowded location.

or, servers are bogged down, 10 people have all queued in at the same time to enter the watch, so it trys putting them at spawn but there are too many concurrent requests to spawn there, so it tries putting them somewhere else.

spitballing, but could the Red Sea cabling issue in the middle east possibly have caused the issues with EU servers at the time? And then just high traffic right after patch caused a couple random issues in other regions?

possible, but unlikely, the internet is built to reroute around that type of damage, but it might introduce lag effects as traffic is routed around

It seems it's been fixed post patch, but rare reports of a new issue.

So I'd say go with caution, and if you're running a vault, don't use the end portal, use "return to respite" button after it's done and you get all the chest goodies

To clarify - the falling through the map has been fixed (as far as I can tell), no reports of anyone after the patch falling. Just people who didn't get out before it went live
