Hello everyone !
I'm going out of my mind with this system. Is there I missed that makes it at least understandable?
I have 27 augmentations at this point, there is more for workbench that workbench allows so I decided to create some specific workbench for tools and another for ranged weapons / ammunition etc
But this is so hard to sort wich one are usefull let's say for my workbench.
I check augments one by one :

  • 1rst : basic sawhorse unlocks all hammers let's put it down
-4th : construction press also unlocks all hammers but it's somewhat tier 2 augment, idk what else changes at all, it has exactly same recipes, let's erase basic sawhorse and put this one down even if I don't have clue why
-18th : Rustic toolbox, here we go again, it unlocks everything construction press has but also wood axe, let's erase construction press and put down rustic toolbox...

That's for hammers but story is the same for every tool, did I miss some way to sort or do I have to do a spreadsheet to effectively know what to build ?
Thanks for any input !

Higher tier workbenches have more augment slots, I have a seperate workshop in a [Forge] realm for the added benefits on crafted tools and weapons. Theres also Bulwarks, Combatants, and Harvesters Workshop realm cards as well, so I swap those out as needed. 1 Entire crafting base in that realm.

Main base in [Settler Apogean] realm has one large building with the bottom floor acting as a workshop. Each type of processing is divided into seperate rooms so the augments dont mix and match too much, adding too many augments in an area can knock another off the list effecting it.

thanks for input, that's actually somehow what I had planned to do but, I didn't think about optimizing with card realms but that's not really my issue.
My issue is that I don't know which augment to craft and UI is really hardly helping

The augment tiers are pretty much irrelevant from what I heard around, you're best to pay attention to the little Icon in the top left, the type of the building is what makes certain recipes and hidden buffs to appear. Some augments have multiply types, which makes them more efficient choices in some cases, like the kitchen knife unlocking both "hunt" type recipes and "cooking" type recipes.

Top left there is a little icon that refers to the type of augment it is, a little crossbow is the hunting augment, a chefs hat is a cooking augment, a crane is the construction augment and so on. The recipes they unlock is based on the type of the augment; Hunting types, like the bear trap or kitchen knife unlock the hunting knifes

Sometimes there are special augment interactions, science type augments speed up the saw and masonry table for example, or a construction type upgrade(I think...) Increases the weight limit of backpacks when next to the sewing table

I wrote another post about this but it was before I learnt about hidden interactions... things are way too messy

This comment has really helped me. Look for the icons. At least now I can look for some sort of resemblence. Before I was like "WTF?? What does actually what here?".

Still though it is a bit messy and looooots of trial and error moving stuff around like there is no tomorrow.

Also can anyone else confirm that the green lines (when placing Augments) DO NOT WORK for the "Open Toolbox" and "Rustic Toolbox" Augments?

Hmmm odd.

Hm no. I removed some to have at least 1 slot free.
I have a theory. That maybe another item already adds those same benefits so then the green lines don't show in that case. I'll try that again next time and see if that is correct.

Aha ok. I still didn't have time to test it but that makes sense.
It also makes sense now why certain augments are in a way just repetitions of others. Or more precisely certain augments incompass partly what others also include. So there is basically overlaps everywhere. Interesting game design choice.
It would need like a massive spreadsheet to cover each and every option and see what would be the "best" for certain choices etc.

Spreadsheets already exist
