#Network error

Same just happened to me at 630pm est!
Running into the same issue with myself and the 2 other people in the realm at 8:57
Hubby and I have the same issue happening right now.
I've had this issue since I started playing Thursday. Every time I try to go through a portal to another realm, I drop, then get either a "Cannot connect to Nightingale server" or "Network Error". It takes multiple tries to log back into the game and when i do get back in, am standing right outside of the portal and need to go through again. It also takes multiple times of doing this to actually get through the portal. This has also happened when I've tried to port back to my Respite home. I'm hardwired to the internet, have no firewalls, and am running on a brand new gaming laptop that meets the play parameters for IT stats. #tech-support #bugs
Lucky You, I can't even start the game. They said they 'had no idea why' So since it was released I can only get the splash screen then 'server cannot connect' , good luck all!
yep same here just happen
same here
Verify the files on steam
Same here since the game came out. There connections to servers are terrible and ruining a very good game. It puts you off wanting to explore a new realm knowing it is going to take a frew tried to even get through the portal
Me and my friend get this too. Two days in a row, around 3:45ish am pacific time. Thought maybe an update or server maintenance but no notifications about it.
hvaing this same issue now ben playing a couple of hours no issue
Solution I found for network error is Run Steam as administrator (NOT the game, but close steam entirely and open it as administrator)
Also make sure you're running it as admin through the windows icon at the bottom left and searching for it, not through the desktop shortcut
thank you, i got the same issue with epic and it worked 🙂
Glad to help 🙂
Happens to me yesterday and today, I've been dealing with this issue since yesterday and I thought I just suck it, it occurs whenever Im in loading screen during portal travel regardless of where going to. I just kept trying for around 3-5 times to be able to connect. I'm using hotwired fiber optic connection and I'm only the sole person in my network. It kind of ruins the fun especially when grinding vault for T3 Essence.
Yes me too, i reverify files, log out close game re oen sometimes it works sometimes not
happens to me about 20 times a day, pc specs top of the line (just built it). fiber internet. no firewalls. tried everything I know working in IT for the last 15 years and uh not on my end is all I am positive about
its gotta be the server, I already submit a ticket about the issue. let see if they take action about it.
im actually testing with a custom firewall excemption above windows defender and so far 10 runs and no dc
ill link the fix here after if I believe its a good one
all i got was an automated response
Yeah same here^
i had that error a few days ago and after verifying the files thru steam libary, it went away and i have not seen a network error since then
I did that 10 times already, even reinstalling the game, doesn't work for me at least
same ^
Have you tried power cycling your modem and router, and by power cycling I mean unplugging the power of those two devices while they are still on, waiting 30 seconds and then plugging them back in and allow them to cycle for 15 to 20 minutes before trying to launch the game
I tried everything I could.
lol shadow. Ive been a seeso for HP and other big names. this error if it is persistent is not about local lan/ or wap. this is completely related to the game not white listing itself with your isp or through stream. Idk how steam grabs IP's server listings. but its catching before it even hits modem. IF you were able to fix it with power cycling its a different error just labeled with the same error message
aka on the dev team/how they have some of there servers right now
id imagine the people having the same issue with consistent disconnects are area based
Just got the same thing today and cannot play. Was fighting a Sun Giant, everything stopped responding so I logged out. Now I'm just getting network error over and over (about 20 minutes now)
yeah they will send you an automated very very basic network fix solutions but its like asking someone if they have turned off and back on yet
I have had this network error 4 times now after putting hours into game any fix yet?
Just has happened several times in row right now, 8-15 min of logging back in continous and waiting for longer than wayfinder load times per usually before i got back in.
I wasn't having many issues with this at launch but as time has gone on i've been battling the Network Error boss every time I go through a portal :/
also when i try to travel back to my respite
Bro it's getting worse and worse with every day that passed, yesterday im literally disconnected while playing and not in the portal and I couldn't log in back 5-10 minutes, A network error kept popping out, I'm in SEA btw, specifically PH, my ping is around 40 avg. I've got my response to my ticket few days ago and said they're aware of the issue. so it's definitely the server, It's just sad that games keep pushing a Live Service game (SS:KJL) that can't even optimize their network infrastructure to facilitate player base. This is the best situation where offline mode is must like the Last Epoch have.
I hate this game network error spend 30 dollars on a game that can not even play,
Same here, SEA player. Unstable ping reaching 130+
Thanks, your solution really worked for me!
It wouldn’t be as bad of a bug if it didn’t take at least 2 minutes to load and travel thru a portal (and that’s on a SSD and good internet connection) . Hopefully game and network performance to speed up those server side loading will get better.
Tried running steam as Admin and still getting loads of network errors. They seriously need to concentrate on fixing this as a priority or they are likely to lose a lot of players.
Glad to have helped ❤️
yeah the network errors are just terrible. Ive played alot of early access games, and understand the decision to run strictly CO-OP for things like the watch combined realm, and the supposedly seemless dungeon portals in the watch with other public players. But I have just never seen a dev team believe in there servers to a point where they don't realese offline at the same time. OR right off the bat. Unsure there server strain but it must be emmense.
i am tried say run steam as administrator BS does not work never had a problem with games until this on
since release ive ha this issue every portal or respite travel. i honestly feel like they dont care because it seems to just be getting worse, going from 5-10 mins to get in to 15-20
anyone got a solution for this bs yet
these steps helped me fix my network error problem so they may help you as well
yeah the steps above shadowfox (no offense) are very very basic. Its kind of like asking if the computer is on lol
thank you tho for reading and sending a link
Just wish the error would provide something more specific rather than a very basic category of a problem
They did provide instructions on how to get the player logs to try to find out more specific information about what is causing the problem and where to find those files Plus instructions on sending it to them in a support ticket
According to the logs, a lot of peoples are getting SSL error.
Which can be caused by... various reasons! 😅
(Among them : incorrect system time on your computer, incorrect configuration on server and/or client side, lost packages, server or client took too much time to answer)
"Handshaking failed", so the issue could even be... Social distancing !!

Bad joke aside, I would advise to check if your computer's time is correctly synced (as it will cause issues if it's not).
There's little chance it's someone's issue, but just in case..
I more than meet minimum specs but I turned my graphics down by one setting and it happens a bit less. Not sure if it's a coincidence or not though.
Same issues here nothing seems to work
I just got the same problem, tried running steam as admin, restarting my laptop, nothing worked,i still get the same error when trying to enter the game
Only luck I’ve had since it’s been dropping on me thru portals after the initial launch week, is to keep spamming getting back into game. Don’t change any settings. Eventually I have gotten back in, longest delay was 10 minutes of spamming back to enter. Certainly not ideal.
just happened to me after chopping a tree that was in water
This is a great game ruined by awful connection issues. I crash trying to port back to my home for the game to crash, multiple attempts later I get back into the zone I was in previously only to try port home again and crash again. These network issues need to be the single highest priority to fix
correct i have friends refusing to play due to this one issue
Try to upvote the link I posted so we can get this resolved
I HATE THIS GAME CAN NOT PLAY IT DO NETWORK ERROR?
its been 2 weeks, hard to imagine this has not been patched yet
I'm on Windows 10 and this fixed most of my connection problems:
- Press windows key + r
- Type
wf.mscto open the Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security dialog. - Click
Inbound Rulesin the left column - Click
Nightingalein the center column. Note there will be twoNightingaleentries, you need to click on the one associated with the UDP protocol. Make the dialog box bigger so you can see the Protocol column. - Click on
Propertiesin the right column (or right click onNightingalein the center column and click onProperties. - Click on the
Advancedtab. - In the
Edge traversalsection, change it fromBlock edge traversaltoAllow edge traversal. - Click
Apply
There are some security implications with allowing edge traversal, but it's not as bad as the alternative of disabling your host firewall entirely.
My theory is that realms are running in docker containers in a Google Kubernetes cluster. Packet captures show the Realm "A" container sending packets from one IP. As you travel to another realm, Realm "A" sends one last UDP packet telling the Nightingale client which IP and port number to use to connect to the Realm "B" docker container.
I believe the windows firewall (in my case) is blocking either the handoff packet from Realm "A" or the replies from Realm "B". I can see Realm "B" sending replies, but my Nightingale client isn't receiving them and occasionally sends initial connection attempts until it gives up and displays a connection/network error. I was unable to confirm the windows firewall was blocking the packets because its logging function was only showing me allowed traffic flows instead of blocked traffic flows even though I configured both to be logged. The winpcap library captures packets as they're coming off the wire, before the windows firewall processes them, that's why I was looking into the windows firewall logs.
Very in-depth explanation. Thank you.
I wasn't having a severe issue, but I have these issues every once in a while. I'll let you know how it performs tomorrow.
did this and still throwing the same error as usual, nothing's change, thanks though for the effort of typing this long. I got the first one then this as the 2nd, thats from portal error going to different realm.
my afk disconnect after doing that trick is gone. now it times out only when im not doing stuff
Shame since the patch it’s still as messed up as before. Zero improvement
havent played in a few days...
getting network error. 😭
yeah, that's the reality of it being an online-only game. I'm at 126hrs already and almost cleared/collected everything, nothing left for me to do so I just stop playing the game in the meantime. I'll just check stuff whenever theres an update. and I tell you for that long period of time I only use the watch as online feature to farm T3 Essence, you can still farm T3 on ascended realms for much slower pace but I dont know why they decided to make the game as online only where offline mode is coming in later date. anyway good luck for the devs fixing the issue.
Same for me (West Eu / Sweden)
Its' just as bad now as it was before the patch.
No private router or firewall on my end, hooked up through cat 6E cable to the icotera fiber box (500/500 connection).
Every other game or what not works perfect, just in this game it keeps throwing the network errors.
Just to drop my 2 cents here, (and I am aware it's EA and I have been so persistent reconnecting 10-20 times going through realms. I managed to go to the watch and all doing this)
This in most cases isn't a user issue, as I'm quite sure all of the people that have tried the suggested fixes can use all their other games and software, whatever that may be, without any issues.
Hence there shouldn't really be a need for the user to loosen their firewall settings and such as it works fine with everything else.
Even my support ticket about this was closed as the patch dropped with reference to the patch and that they had solved it...
Network issues, frequent disconnects with portal use, and long load times are some of the worst of the current problems holding this game back.
im convinced tht they know how to fix it but it will take along time so they dont want to be forthcoming because people will reufnd if they know it wont be fixed for a long time
I got this problem 3 or 4 days after launch, which was very frustrating. I tried official and less official fixes in vain. I discovered 3 days ago I didn't have this problem anymore (I did nothing except waiting).
This problem feels very random, it happens on various hardwares, connection type, location... I think it's more on server end than on user end it occurs.
This will be the third day in a row of having this "A Network error has occurred" issue. I've run through the troubleshooting steps. Clearly this isn't a one off isolated incident. Hoping a root cause can be identified and resolution implemented soon. At this point the game has been unplayable since the patch this week. 😦
I mean I’ve been having this issue nonstop since release and others since alpha olaytests so count yourself lucky if it only just started, but welcome to the suck
Any updates to this? I noticed I have had this more in the last few days then any time before.
I have also noticed my progress is not saved when the game closes due to this error.
Dang, that sucks. At launch the game was almost unplayable for me but since this last patch it hasn't happened a single time. I was thinking it was pretty much resolved.
With that statement from you I have faith it will be. I may reinstall the game to see if that works. Thank you.
