Ok hi! sorry that took so long! my hair got really messy and i didnt like that

I'll start typing out the answers which might take some time

It's alrighty!

Their head evolved to have many holes due to many factors; their head is tremendously big, they can smell and "talk" this way, and they can also see much better this way! Akothiuslids evolved to have a raised butt to try and blend in with their environments! they try to mimic the tall thick plants that grow around Barr-D16's many biomes, the bulbs at the bottom of their stems are full of fat, that makes them have two functions! Store fat and look like a plant!

They kind of resemble male lions when it comes to their behavior, they lay around most of the time and mostly kill when they are hungry, when they are not hungry they let the Akoothines (a kind of Barr-D16 bird) eat the waste thats stuck between their teeth! They tend to be more aggressive towards any other species but will not necessarily kill them if they get in their territory, they tend to warn them several times before hurting them and/or killing them.

Yup. This particular edition is just the crater but I’ve got a second notebook identical to this one that I’ll do sector zero for. That way if there’s a third game I can just get another notebook and make the field guide for that so I don’t got to deal with running out of space.

If things go well I’m also thinking about having it be published

I know UW is pretty lax on their whole merch thing so I know it’s definitely within the realm of possibility. Gonna finish it first but after that I’ll probably contact them about that.

Absolutely. Im gonna over explain the hell out of every creature. I got at least 4 sentences out of the blue palm I can stretch out the more substantial creatures for sure.

I’m really looking forward to doing the reaper and sea dragon pages because they actually have complete skeletons we can see canonically so I can include information on their bone anatomy.

The only problem I’m facing is I have no idea where to include ||the sea emperor. They exist in a inorganic habitat ingame so no idea what to do about them. maybe the sparse reef since one hangs out there after you complete the game but I’m not sure. I wanted to do the sparse reef early in the book and having the sea emperor not even halfway through would feel off.||

The creature belonging to the gargantuan fossil? It’ll have something in the lost river section. Each of the extinct creatures in the lost river will get coverage. The lost river is probably my most major biome I have planned and if I were to have a guess for length I’d say probably 7-9 pages.

Ehhh not really. It’s significant story lore but it’s kinda a dead zone in terms of flora and fauna. It’s got deep shrooms and some non scannable grass for “flora” and only 5 or 6 species of fauna. Granted they’re major species and they will have nice coverage but there’s others that will have more coverage. That wouldn’t be a bad place to talk about natural resources though as that’s one of the best places to get them.

I could mention them in the void. I was gonna bring it up but it was going to be super short. Just a little bit of ghost leviathan adults, microscopic organisms, why it’s empty, and that’s it. They don’t live in the void but I could bring them up in the same section.

Everyone makes leviathan forms for the creatures in the game

So i'd like to present to you

The Smilefish,Phantomfish and Duskfish! The tiny versions of the Reaper,Ghost and Shadow Leviathans :D

I plan on giving this treatment to other leviathan classes,if you have any suggestions for which one i should do next lmk :)

The Smilefish holds it's claws in front of it's face to make it look like a harmless beak and trick it's prey into getting closer

The Phantomfish is a filter feeder,living near the more empty parts of The Crater to avoid any competition

@strange breach So this is the rock treader (literally a seatreader but with weird belly and loooong feeler with diffrent diet) it walks along the sea floor mostly in safe shallows grassy plateaus and kelp forests, it puts its feelers inside of the sand (if it’s rock then it repeatedly breaks the ground until it is thin as sand and then it sticks it’s feelers in) it will find outcrop and once it is found the feeler will wrap around it and bring it to the surface, if the outcrop is in the open then it will walk up to it and smash it with its beak, grabbing the nutrients inside of the rock. If threatened it will slam its beak at the attacker as hard as it can, intending to impale it, the eggs it lays are submerged under the sand, only noticeable by the hard cap acting like a “shield” sticking out as well as a feeler the egg has for its own, wich senses if nutrients is nearby, the feeler will slowly extend to max length of 0.50 meters in wich it will open the top capsule that is exclusive to the egg feeler and it will absorb the nutrients for the developing rock treader. Tell me how y’all like it

what reasons are there for them to have those holes?

@strange breach (excuse my not very good drawing skills) introducing the Ice Roller, this horrifying creature is a evolutionary off-shoot of the iceworm not to far down the line, it is 2.3 meters tall measured from tail top to head tip. (size comparison probably not accurate) every single shell on its upper body is superheated at the top for offensive and defensive reasons, this medium sized carnivore lives in the glacial basin, and attacks by either impaling it’s prey with the superheated blade under its mouth or more commonly as its name suggests; rolls up into a upright circle, it locks on its bottom blade and mouth to the two super heated rods on the back of its tail and then makes a chemical reaction inside of a special organ near its neck that causes a explosion to come out of a hole under its neck, wich sends it rolling at top speeds of 221 mph (the speed of a Lamborghini going as fast as it can with no mods) going at this high speed it causes blunt force trauma and in most cases, breaking every single bone in your body, it dosent help that you will probably be burnt by its segmented shell upon impact either. It rarely wraps around prey and stabs its windpipe stopping the flow of air to the preys organs, making them suffocate, this is only done with one species of prey known to date: the snowstalker, it rarely constricts prey but it can be used if it is desperate. This predator eats the previously mentioned snow stalker, and occasionally eats sky rays when caught off guard. General life: going at high speeds, it usually dosent bother to slither around, it only goes underground if it must sneak up on prey, but if it is moving around casually you can see them zooming across the glacial basin and ramming into prey or walls occasionally. This specimen has eyes, unlike the ice worm, and has a mouth with three sectioned parts, all having many razor sharp teeth inside.
Assessment: Very Dangerous handle with caution, avoid as much as possible.

@strange breach Introducing, ✨ le clacker fish ✨ a evolutionary offshoot of the chelicerate (mini chelicerate) that is 1 meter long, has an identical mount structure and has few differences in its body, this small predators main way to hunt is using the muscles in its mouth and jaws to click its “jaws” or the hard outer material resembling jaws to click very quickly at a frequency that attracts fish like peepers boomerang fish, etc. this frequency also makes them not be able to hear anything else (including the clacker fish moving toward them) and it also causes a complete shutdown of the ocular system (this is probably so scientifically inaccurate but yea) once the prey is close enough it will smash down on on the unfortunate animal at a whopping 1820 PSI (the bite force of a hippopotamus leaving the creature completely crushed or it can be swallowed whole, if you were to be bitten in the head by this creature certain death is almost a guarantee, unless you kill it by stabbing it through a necessary organ or stab it’s eye to get away it will undoubtedly crush your head, and any other body part it bites, this creatures reproductive cycle is quite simple, in fact like all other creatures on 4546B it reproduces asexually and will lay a egg, about 0.3 meters long this egg has many patterns around it and the eye of the embryo clacker fish can be seen inside always watching… occasionally the eye moves, but only in response to a object coming within 2 cm of the egg, this is proven to only happen if the egg is 80% done or more with its incubation period.
Assessment: Dangerous, can be subdued and avoided
