Also there’s playing in creative, it’s not the optimal choice for everyone, but in BZ there’s no story in creative mode so you won’t have the story spoiled I guess? You would discover locations that are in the story but it doesn’t give dialogue and stuff you’d still need to discover all that on your own outside of creative

The first egg I picked up was a Gold Trivalve, simply because I have never had an alien containment in either game (despite many many hours) and had one finally. If the inventory on death works the same as sn, 1. your inventory is saved when you enter a base or the drop pod, so the beacon wouldn't drop after that, and 2. you keep one random item when you die, so there's a chance that you keep the beacon instead of it dropping.
A much more surefire method is to drop the beacon just before you die.
