I think many players are ready for a new experience in the Subnautica universe. Retreading old ground gets boring for the “average player” which you have to remember, the discord isn’t really representative of. Discord servers for games often represent the most passionate players which are more, let’s say, fanatical in their devotion to a series and while there’s nothing wrong with that, it does skew the impression one has about the average player interests for games. The average player probably plays the game once, if they even complete it at all. They’re unlikely to want to continue to investigate the same storyline elements even if they’re presented from different timelines or whatever, because it just won’t feel different enough Not to mention many of the people who’ve worked on the games have done similar work (in style) since 2013 and have design fatigue from working on the same sorts of fish models and animations and also want to use their talents for new things, at least from what I’ve heard. You can’t blame them for wanting new stimulating work environment.

So in answer to your comment, yeah it would be really hard to make basically the same sort of game if it doesn’t sell, and the people who would do the designs aren’t interested in being a part of it anymore. A fresh game in the Subnautica universe is a smart move imo.

Speaking of ideas, I'd like to invent a new Seatruck module that's a solar charger : solar panels on top, to charge the truck's power cells, and a regular battery charger inside ... maybe a small storage locker, too

Imho, this could all be integrated into the sleeper module. Under the bed would be plenty of room for a storage compartment and the battery charger underneath the picture frame, would be no problem.

yeah, but building a PC for someone else is more of a "work" - you have to figure out the parts that need to be ordered, then you need to assemble the parts and install the OS (or multiple OSes, if you use Linux)
