What’s kinds funny is thinking the general audience for games like Subnautica and BZ will being replaying them at all
They’re not.
We’re talking casual gaming here, the main demographic will most likely play the game through until it’s completed/beaten, if they get that far.
I mean you can look at achievement %s to see how most who try the game don’t even finish it, although some of that gets skewed over time by folks who basically trial the game such as thru Game Pass, or how for example Subnautica was available in Early Access on Xbox One (BZ wasn’t, it was Steam only to make the process easier, just one platform to deal with for bugs and updates etc). But the %s still tell you a lot…vast amounts of folks don’t even get to mid or late game much less finish so they’re certainly not worried about replayability lol.
It’s a common thing, when you’re on a discord server especially an official one, to get a sense that’s very different from that of the average player. We tend to be much more devout and experienced, but these games while very much a labor of love, and incredible in their own ways from each other, are still played by casual gamers for the most part who just want to get some achievements or finish the game and move on😅

They removed it because it never worked as intended.

I can tell it is an early access screenshot because of the Subnautica 1 Lifepod Beacon. That beacon was a placeholder for the Control Room's built-in beacon.
