I have no idea what is going on. Can you remove the salt and empty the inventory of the machine and let it start all over again and can you put another power transmitter, so that the power lines go with a bit of a distance from the water filtration machine into your base. But this is just wild guessing. Sorry. And probabely you have to repost your question in the evening when more people and Moderators are active.

Yes, you have to build the hover pad on solid ground, preferably where you need the snowfox most. But you can pack the snowfox in your inventory, so you dont have to leave it there but its of no use somewhere else.

Yes, it keeps you warm but the cold suit is excellent. I find it very convenient, because it keeps you warm. For example when you do pengling spy holes, you have to leave the snowfox and in that moment your temperature drops. With the cold suit no worries. And I think it looks cool.

Personally, I'm not too fussed about completing each playthrough. I prefer to explore the maps and build bases when I replay either game. Although I prefer SN1 in this regard, mostly because of its much larger map providing many more areas to explore and build in. BZ's new base parts are fun to build with though.

the early biomes' fauna can't really kill you unless you're really riling them up. Biggest danger early on is drowning, and on hardcore you don't have an oxygen alert.
