#

Where is it? Yes.

willow olive
#

true.

#

so what do i do in this situation

eternal garnet
#

endure, heal

willow olive
#

theirs also snow stalkers to the right

eternal garnet
#

watch worm eat one. Super cool

willow olive
#

lol

#

so i cant strafe left or right in this case?

eternal garnet
#

its damage radius appears to be 30m. Good luck

willow olive
#

oh. gee. seems like im out of luck

#

i still dont want to unpause.

echo grove
#

i havent seen worms yet

worn thunder
#

And now im stuck cus im getting no indication as to where to go and what to do

eternal garnet
#

that is not what this game is about. You explore, you find stuff on your own.

#

Still, I did tell you it's in crystal caves

worn thunder
#

Yeah i absolutely can't do that lol

worn thunder
#

Whatd u say was there again? Like do i go for kyanite and such

eternal garnet
#

body part: organs

worn thunder
#

Is that in depths that exceed the capabilities of the mk2?

eternal garnet
#

slightly exceeds. So a seaglide works.

worn thunder
#

Oh god wait

#

Id have to make trips back and forth bcs theres not enough storage in sea truck

eternal garnet
#

what? no

worn thunder
#

Oh?

eternal garnet
#

what for?

worn thunder
#

Kyanite and such

eternal garnet
#

if you insist, get storage module. Or another of them

#

you do not need many kyanite

worn thunder
#

Ill see. My biggest problem rn is making it to the crystal caves and finding the organs

tulip temple
#

I just spent 5 hours making my base and when I tried to save it crashed. I only had 3 large rooms and one multipurpose room.

eternal garnet
#

you didn't save for 5 hours.

tulip temple
#

It was just a small base for me, I never thought it would crash

eternal garnet
#

I am sorry though. Save 3-4 times an hour

#

useful when you get stuck too

tulip temple
#

Almost every time I save it crashes, so I didn't wanna risk it

#

I have no idea why it is so laggy. I can barely move in my seatruck with more than 5fps and just swimming around I have 20fps

@eternal garnet https://youtu.be/7T9jFiadUyY is this an accurate guide for kyanite? Ik it says cache but i suppose theres kyanite along the way

This Subnautica Below Zero guide will show you where to find the Crystal Caves Cache also known as the Crystal Castle. This architect base can be found in the Crystal Caves biome and contains the organs of Al-An's body. This guide will also give details on what you will require to travel to this location and the fauna that you may encounter. P...

worn thunder
#

Alright ill follow this guide then

#

I have unfortunately arrived at the crystal caves

#

Wish me luck upon not being destroyed and finding kyanite

#

@eternal garnet is 8 kyanite enough?

echo grove
#

i have more diamonds than anything else

worn thunder
#

@eternal garnet dude panic situation

#

The thing found me and im stuck

eternal garnet
#

this is when you load save

worn thunder
#

If i get in my seatruck and try to quickly hightail it out of there, with the defense thing?

#

No i saved right here

eternal garnet
#

only fire it on attack

#

it doesn't do anything otherwise

worn thunder
#

So during the animation?..

eternal garnet
#

on attack, it stops the attack

worn thunder
#

My heart is literally pounding

#

I can feel it lmao

eternal garnet
#

so not really stuck. ok

worn thunder
#

Kind of kind of not

eternal garnet
#

it's very, very effective

worn thunder
#

Im gonna attempt

#

OH GOD IT WORKED

#

the second my camera turned to face the blue thing i did it and it left me

echo grove
#

can ion batteries be charged

worn thunder
#

Im gonna craft a beacon for when i have to UNFORTUNATELY come back for the other thing

#

lmao

#

A chelicerate bumped straight into me and idgaf tbh after seeing that thing down there

#

@eternal garnet hey, One question, how many upgrades will i need for my seatruck? depth module, afterburner, defense and what else?

eternal garnet
#

you only nreally need depth mk3

#

the rest are nice to have

worn thunder
#

Ye sure but what would a 4th upgrade be

eternal garnet
#

for long trucks, horsepower upgrade

worn thunder
#

Theres such thing? Jesus

eternal garnet
#

it's not faster, only slows down less with long trains

#

modules: prawn dock, aquarium, sleeper (with jukebox)

echo grove
#

What does teh thumper do

eternal garnet
#

storage+fab you should have already

worn thunder
#

Storage i do not

#

Oh wait yes i do

eternal garnet
#

the thumper quickly empties its battery while keeping worms 20m away. It doesn't follow you. It's not great

echo grove
#

oh

worn thunder
#

YES, that thing i have it but idk what it does? Does it just keep ice worms away?

echo grove
#

waste of magnesium

eternal garnet
#

yes. In one spot. You can pick it up, but to be real useful it should follow you

worn thunder
#

am i the only one who sometimes just sits there and wonders what lives in the rest of this empty, void and unimaginable depths planet called 4546B..

echo grove
#

yes

reef owl
#

Note! If you have a module attached to your truck, you can effectively eliminate the need for the perimeter defense system by exiting your pilots seat before being attacked by the shadow. The shadow will instead of attacking your truck, try to attack you but it can't cause you're no longer accessable

worn thunder
#

Afterburner: acquired. Depth mk3: acquired. Ion power cell truck: acquired. Save: acquired. Permanent traumatization from shadow leviathan: acquired.

#

Dude the game saves so fast

#

Last subnautica i once waited 4 minutes for it to save

#

And once like waited 250s to load in the save file

@eternal garnet

Try playing the game with Gamma 0.10 💀

sharp vale
#

I'm at yet another dead end... I have been seaching all over the place, but haven't spotted even a single Table Coral- and the guide I read said it could be found in abundance in the twisty bridge biome

#

it said "South" but direction is really hard to determine without a compass- which i can't craft without table coral...

echo grove
#

what do i do

my prawn suit just ran out of power, and theres an ice worm right behind me

sharp vale
#

Does... anyone have any advice on finding table coral? I'm completely lost on this

#

Never expected to struggle this much with something so basic.... it was no where near t his hard to find in the first game

sterile shadow
sharp vale
#

so... exactly where are the twisty bridges? I thought I was in them, but i had no way of knowing...

#

without reference to cardinal directions- they're pretty useless without a compass..

echo grove
#

look for the big bridges

sharp vale
#

what depth do they spawn at?

next current
#

It's bright orange and most of the time it spawns in clusters.

sharp vale
#

where though? like, I keep running out of oxygen before I can get particularly deep- i have no seaglide because i need table coral to make one....

next current
#

In the Twisty Bridges along the walls.

sharp vale
#

yeah, in the twisty bridges, i got that... but where in the twisty bridges? i've been looking all over the place, not a single one spotted

next current
#

Unless you're playing an older version...

sharp vale
#

i am playing on PS4 so i assume latest version

sterile shadow
sharp vale
#

what depth?

next current
#

Blue Table Coral doesn't spawn anymore.

sterile shadow
next current
#

That's okay.

sterile shadow
sharp vale
#

I'm apparently in the right place- at least i hope I am... but there's nothing here. and I keep running out of oxygen before I even get the chance to look around...

sterile shadow
sharp vale

well that's the thing... I'm stuck. I can't build anything else until i find table coral, and I've not found any at all.

echo grove

  1. ||Test Override Module and the Jukebox won’t function if the player changes their interaction keybind from anything other than A||

  2. Saving while inside of a prawn suit crashed the game almost every time and caused robin to have a seizure

  3. I died of hypothermia and the white screenblur didnt disappear till i saved and exited

  4. ||Al-An guiding me to places I visited an hour ago, and him and robin act like they’ve never been there||

  6. Snowfox just ceased to exist infront of my eyes

carmine bobcat

distant hemlock
carmine bobcat
#

Not just for rocks

distant hemlock
#

I never needed one in the original

unreal spoke
#

that prob would have cut the amount of time i have played the game by like 60% '-'

carmine bobcat
#

Also you can stack upgrades

distant hemlock
#

Their usefulness is slightly overexaggerated

carmine bobcat
#

So get as much range extenders as possible

distant hemlock
#

Below zero is like an ore rave compared to the original tho

carmine bobcat
distant hemlock
#

There are tons more rocks

#

Everywhere

unreal spoke
#

yea but when i actaully try and find the rocks i need i dont find them xd

distant hemlock
#

But you have to swim for like 20 secs to get to the kelp

#

The batteries suck and there arent a trillion acid shrooms to make more

#

Original batteries were long lasting and easy to make

#

Bz they are short lasting and hard to make

unreal spoke
#

how far are you?

distant hemlock
#

Hard ER sorry

unreal spoke
#

uh

#

im stupid what that mean? pls dumb it down a bit xd

distant hemlock
#

I think they went a bit too far with the realism

distant hemlock
unreal spoke
#

oh xd

carmine bobcat
#

Hard emergency response lol

unreal spoke
#

u put a space so thats why i was confused

distant hemlock
#

In real life batteries usually dont last as long in cold weather. Why is that annoyance in a videogame

#

And why the heck is water warmer than air

unreal spoke
distant hemlock
#

And why does the oxygen tanks only hold 70 seconds

#

In the future

unreal spoke
#

u say the realism is to far but then you go to the water being warmer then air

distant hemlock
#

When modern ones hold like an hour

distant hemlock
#

There is only one explanation.

#

The fish pee alot

unreal spoke
distant hemlock
#

No

#

But if u going to cold planet

#

Why bring not a giant fur coat or an onboard heater suit or something

unreal spoke
#

idk

distant hemlock
#

How far in the future is this too

#

We can store molecule rearrangement tech in a tiny little habitat builder

#

And slow time with a gun

#

But still have crap batteries

#

And not even insulation suits for cold planet

#

I am aware

unreal spoke
#

there are better batterys later in the game

distant hemlock
#

Ion battery

unreal spoke
#

ye

distant hemlock
#

They rely on alien technology for good battery

unreal spoke
#

thats cus humans are stupid ok? there still using Duracell battery's

distant hemlock
#

Yes

unreal spoke
#

they can make BIG MEC but they cant make battery that lasts more then 3 seconds

distant hemlock
#

I had a theory when I first saw the ending of below zero

unreal spoke
#

never completed below zero so no spoilers

#

how many endings are there in BZ?

distant hemlock
#

||When they were on the precursor planet and you could see the city below them. I thought “that looks pretty human city looking to me”||

sterile shadow
distant hemlock
unreal spoke
#

o

distant hemlock
#

No 2

#

The ragequit ending and the true ending

unreal spoke
#

no theres 3

#

it depends on your dificaulty tho

#

ragequit true and you just die cus hc

distant hemlock
#

All 3 or so of the storylines tie into each other just like in the original

#

You resolve Alan stuff, find out how sam died, etc.

unreal spoke
#

its funny how i dont care about sam

distant hemlock
unreal spoke
#

i just care about alien

distant hemlock
unreal spoke
#

i have like 2 PDA's about sam

distant hemlock
#

Then suddenly comes back and you are like “oh I remember this! They mentioned it in the first 10 minutes!”

unreal spoke
#

why is there no liviathen killing weapons when we clearly know about liviathens

distant hemlock
#

No no

#

Its because of the obraxis massacre

#

The first game has a lore that explains why there are no weapons. There was a massacre on a planet called obraxis and alterra stopped producing lethal weapons after that.

#

Everything that CAN hurt leviathans (drill arm, knife, etc.) are all not made as weapons but just happen to be usable as weapons

#

Drill arm is made for mining. Knife is made for cutting stuff since, you know, knives are kinda useful when you are trying to survive in nature

#

Stasis rifle was created to give workers more time to work in time sensitive situations.

timber dew
#

less stopped producing and more they're not longer available in survival setups.

distant hemlock
#

Ye

timber dew
#

I assume if there was an engineer, tactical officer, or someone with more clearance than a janator's assistant to give a clearance they would have been usable but... well... we're talking Altera, the geniuses who decided that everything you build, scavange, salvage, and find belongs to them so you're a trillion credits in debt once you get off the planet

distant hemlock
#

The fabricators dont have them anymore

timber dew
#

They probably do

#

they're probably just locked behind clearence codes.

distant hemlock
#

To be fair.

#

They did lose multiple trillions worth of phasegate parts when the ship crashed

timber dew
#

the kind Ryley didn't have in the first game and the kind that, well, Robyn was a poorly written moron.

distant hemlock
#

But its still kinda stupid

timber dew
#

No, that was just part of the survival PDA's general TOS

distant hemlock
timber dew
#

she was in the first draft, the one that was actually somewhat competently written and technically her company had been bought out, so she kinda was.

distant hemlock
#

Xenoworx is owned by alterra so

timber dew
#

I'm pretty damned critical of the game. Highest rated negative review on steam. :p

distant hemlock
#

Thats you…

#

I like the first more. How you had to figure it out for yourself.

timber dew
#

yep

distant hemlock
#

The creatures and visual design in bz are much better tho

timber dew
#

I disagree. Not alien enough. I hate the shrimp.

distant hemlock
#

I like the more vibrant and colorful aliens with the weird traits

#

Rather than just taking a shark and giving it an armadillo shell

#

I wish there were more tho

timber dew
#

I find most of the first game's creatures were more alien.

distant hemlock
#

Im a huge fan of alex ries and there were tons of great creatures he made that didnt make it in

timber dew
#

in final game robin's case it's less "lack of clearance" and more "utter and complete lack of preparation" that makes her a moron.

If you know you're going to be skydiving on Watery Deathworld, why don't you already have those useful tools on record?

distant hemlock
#

Yeah

#

I agree

timber dew
#

If I could rewrite the second game, wanna know what I'd do? How I'd do it?

distant hemlock
#

It made sense that you were unprepared in the original since you crash unexpectantly and dont really have time to prepare

#

This one you are willingly traveling to the arctic region of an ocean world where you know ahead of time that there are dangerous creatures, inhospitable enviromnents, etc. And all she takes is a lifepod with a fabricator and a storage locker and an aep suit that isnt even cold resistant

unreal spoke
#

uh help im stuck in dead zone '-'

distant hemlock
#

And has less blueprints by default despite the fact that she could have downloaded more while ryley crashed unexpectedly and had more

tulip temple
timber dew
#

Robin isn't some super scientist, she isn't there to find her sister, and she isn't voiced... she's an altera sea truck driver who gets stranded when they're forced to abandon the planet. Maybe some piece of precursor technology got rattled, like a second defense platform or something...

Basically "Oh, we left Robin.... um.... be back in estimate = 64 months. Everything's been smashed. Not relanding. Toss a lifepod out the back end. she'll be fine!"

#

honestly, the preview movie is the game we should have gotten

unreal spoke
#

anybody know how i escape the dead zone since my last save was in the dead zone and i accessed my storage in my sea truck so if i where to die i would respawn in my seatruck?

distant hemlock
#

Chelis are dumb and probably wont attack

#

Like reapers

#

Except even dumber

timber dew
#

Reapers they're not.

distant hemlock
unreal spoke
#

nvm my sea truck died '-' guess the sea truck will do the get home for me xd

distant hemlock
#

timber dew
#

reapers were freckin' terrifying

distant hemlock
#

Rong

#

Reaper stupid

#

Dummy

timber dew
#

they were hyper agressive in my experience

distant hemlock
#

Not one attack in my whole playthrough

timber dew
#

while I spent half my game running from them

distant hemlock
#

They came up right behind the seamoth then turn around and left

timber dew
#

Though I did once kill a Ghost in the safe shallows with a knife....

distant hemlock
#

It was the sea dragon and ghost that were bad for me

tulip temple
#

Reapers were scary until I realized Cyclops was the bigger fish. Went on a crusade and took back the dunes.

timber dew
#

how. Cyclpose was unarmed.

distant hemlock
#

But it wasnt fear. Like not horror game Im gonna die fear

tulip temple
#

Ramming speed

carmine bobcat

it is epic

distant hemlock

It was more so fear that my big expensive sub was gonna die

timber dew

carmine bobcat

unreal spoke
timber dew
#

I just wish someone would port the BZ content to the base game. It's the better game

distant hemlock
#

If there is one thing bz does better than the original

carmine bobcat
#

with a mod yes

timber dew
#

thre's a mod

distant hemlock
#

Its flares

#

Flares are completely useless in the original. In bz you can use them to make the stupid monkeys leave you alone

tulip temple
timber dew
#

I cast thermal blade 🙂

#

Sub Zero's plot was really really disapointing

distant hemlock
#

Oh another thing that made bz story not as good. In the original it felt like you were an ordinary janitor guy who happened to be the only survivor of a ship crash.

timber dew
#

I hated robyn. She never shut up and the humor attempts from the PDA were pure cringe

tulip temple
#

The best weapon though? Seatruck + perimeter defense + afterburner.

distant hemlock
#

You have this sense of being a regular ordinary guy who got in a bad situation and has to figure out how to survive on his own

timber dew
#

rather than an inept mary sue.

distant hemlock
#

In bz robin straight up says in a pda or something that she survived on some desert planet for a week with just some rope or something. Its not the same playing a survival game as a survival expert

#

Because you the player are not a survival expert

#

The character doesnt reflect the player

#

Thats why so many games have silent or low dialogue protagonists

#

It lets you place yourself in the character and have them become you in a sense

timber dew
#

Robyn is basically a modern "Strong Female Protagonist" in all the wrong ways. The hypercompetent woman with no flaws and no discernable personality who's only real traits are she's strong, she's female, she's the protagonist, she's incredible, and she don't need no man.

distant hemlock
#

Link in botw is a good example

tulip temple
#

At least it's not a mobile game

timber dew
#

That's my other complaint.

distant hemlock
#

He does talk but only when interacting with npcs

#

And when you are talking with npcs you always have options as to what to say to them

timber dew
#

She's a talkitive voiced character in a survival game where there's effectively no other characters who never shuts up

distant hemlock
#

Show dont tell exists in game too

#

Its called let the player experience stuff. Dont tell them about it

#

Narration is boring compared to experiencing or watching something

timber dew
#

and please do not take my SFP thing there as sexism. Well written female protagonsits are great. She's not. she's a cardboard cuthow who doesn't ever STFU.

distant hemlock
#

To change the story minimally. What if you go to the planet just to do sciency stuff or whatever. You know. A normal scientist doing their job

echo grove
#

tbh i hate al-an more

distant hemlock
#

But when you get there, you find everything abandoned. You dont have any prior experience because you are an ordinary sciency person and you have to survive and figure out why everyone is gone

timber dew
#

Do not remind me of brain ghost ferrus. He is not friend.

unreal spoke
#

why does this feel wrong? not the shooting the thing but the "Shoot item" part

timber dew
#

Honestly, you know what... I just knew how to have made it utterly hilarious.

distant hemlock
#

It keeps the original’s sense of uncovering the cause of an unexpected event

azure field
#

ohhh wait I know what these are now

echo grove
#

the only moments that are slightly enjoyable from him is when he doesn’t understand sarcasm

mostly since i really wanted robin to swim into a leviathan mouth

azure field
#

It's a reference to another game that Unknown Worlds made, those 2 weapons are in a game called "Future Perfect"

distant hemlock
#

From a gameplay standpoint I like the aesthetic of bz more

#

I wish they kept the big open expanse idea of subnautica tho. Bz is all caves and stuff

#

Tbh I only got bz for the large rooms

timber dew
#

how would this have worked for a setup...

Robin is sent to the planet to be a new crewmember. Because of cost, they're basically just dropping her off.

Altera abandoned the base 18 months ago but there was paper work error.

Robin is dropped onto the planet.

The ship dropping her off is not authorized for planet fall.

The captain shrugs and tosses a lifepod out the back and says he'll find a pickup request for you.

Estimated time to process? about 3 standard years.

See ya then!

distant hemlock
#

It would have been better to have bz’s visual design and stuff but with subnautica’s giant open expanses

paper cobalt
#

can I have 2 storage module's on a prawn?

distant hemlock
#

You arent going to the planet to figure out what happened

#

You are just doing your job and something bad happens. You have to figure out what to do about it

#

Just like the original

distant hemlock
timber dew
#

If I had the skills and a modding crew I'd rewrite the damned game's dialongue

paper cobalt
#

but theres only room for 2 I thought

distant hemlock
paper cobalt
#

prawn

distant hemlock
#

Oh

timber dew
#

I'd probably keep AL-AN but I'd make it so the reason they were forced to abandon the planet was Altera was looking for him, so he went into defensive mode to keep them from finding him because they're scum... so he kinda sorta blew up one of the moons to scare them off.

distant hemlock
#

No only 2 or 4. Not sure which

paper cobalt
#

ok thx

timber dew
#

you have to find their notes to find his location, then you have to use his direction to find his parts to get him out of your head.

distant hemlock
#

Its a cool idea.

#

I kinda liked the idea in one of the older versions

timber dew
#

Basically you have to finish the Altera quest line before the Alen one becomes avalible unless you get lucky and stumble across him.

distant hemlock
#

Where you send a dna sample to alterra and they see that you have a thing in your head

#

It could be analogous to the kharaa

echo grove
#

does al-an ever guide me to where the arch. organs are?

if yes, dont tell me where
if not tell me the biome

timber dew
#

You'll know because he'll say "Oh! They're CLOSE!" if you get close to them.

distant hemlock
#

If you go back they are going to find out you have an alien in you and do some sciency stuff on you that is good

echo grove
distant hemlock
#

So you have to get al an out by building a body

#

So you are safe from being dissected by alterra when you return

echo grove
#

he told me where the tissue was 30 minutes afterwards

timber dew
#

they'd still disect you to be sure

distant hemlock
#

Its just an idea

#

They said they want to make a 3rd game

timber dew
#

... hopefully they learn from what went wrong in the second

distant hemlock
#

But want to work on other stuff first

timber dew
#

I have very little faith in that direction.

#

IE they're never making a third game

distant hemlock
#

So theres another chance to do another good game

timber dew
#

studios like this one are always one flop away from bankruptcy

distant hemlock
#

Early access saved subnautica

timber dew
#

and the subnautia brand saved Below Zero

distant hemlock
#

The fact the community actually got to playtest the game and share feedback was the only reason it was good

#

The players got to say what they wanted and the devs would make it

#

The spy pengling was a community creation

#

For example

timber dew
#

the problem is the map is bad and the writing is painful.

distant hemlock
#

And at least the new story is better than the old

timber dew
#

I like the QOL additions and wish I could port them into the new game.

#

I Disagree.

distant hemlock
tulip temple
#

You guys seem to really despise bz so why can't I find anything wrong with it?

distant hemlock
#

It should have been big open expanses like the first game

timber dew
#

because it's a middling sequel a freggin masterpiece

paper cobalt
#

why is this happening?

#

my vehicle upgrade thing is building against the wall

timber dew
#

It's the same reason I legitimately hate Todd Howard.... I remember fallout 1/2.

distant hemlock
#

Its a good game. It is being compared to a near perfect game and thus looks bad in comparison

tulip temple
#

Disagree with liking it*

distant hemlock
#

Alone it is still good.

timber dew
#

It's a decent game.

#

not great, not bad, but solid and competent

#

while Subnautia is a work of art.

distant hemlock
#

It is just too different and had unrealistic expectations to meet

timber dew
#

"More of the Same" is not really that unrealistic.

distant hemlock
#

Im kinda scared about botw 2

#

Subnautica bz was originally planned as dlc

tulip temple
#

I replied to the wrong message

distant hemlock
#

Botw 2 was originally planned as dlc

timber dew
#

So was Subnautica BZ actually

#

but they decided to make it an expandalone.

distant hemlock
#

What Im most scared of is the fact that they are reusing and expanding the original map

tulip temple
timber dew
#

Oh, I'm not. Don't mind at all really

#

If its not broke, don't fix it.

paper cobalt
distant hemlock
#

The best part of botw was exploring the giant massive open world

timber dew
#

it's fine dude.

paper cobalt
#

oh ok ty

distant hemlock
#

It wont be the same if we are doing the same world but with floaty islands

paper cobalt
#

sorry im still new

timber dew
#

we all were no once

#

tulip temple
timber dew
#

Iz all kool

distant hemlock
#

Its right

paper cobalt
distant hemlock
#

Its facing that way so you can see the colors change

timber dew
#

this year was just bad for new games IMHO

distant hemlock
#

And the walk part is where the fabricator goes

distant hemlock
timber dew
#

doubts.

distant hemlock
#

Botw 2, Splatoon 3, Frontiers of Pandora…

timber dew
#

Even farcry 6, the most formulaic game every made, they somehow managed to mess up the formula.

distant hemlock
#

Only games I want

#

Nm

#

Hehe

echo grove
#

where are the grapple arm frags xd

distant hemlock
#

Have you seen

timber dew
#

Frontiers of Pandora looks terrible IMHO.

distant hemlock
#

Fnaf security breach

#

Cyberpunk but with pizza

#

A prime example of how fans can ruin a game

timber dew
#

I'm sorry, but I don't want to PLAY the Navi. I want to shoot them. Like I did in the first game by Ubi, which was actually good and let you chose your side.

distant hemlock
#

I just like the world and worldbuilding stuff

timber dew
#

Cyberpunk was actually a solid game IMHO. Biggest problem gameplay wise was the leveled combat system but that was modded out.

distant hemlock
#

Avatar honestly kinda has a bad story

#

Not bad

#

Just stolen from pocahontas

timber dew
#

Yeah, they never point out that without the Unobtanium humanity's doomed.

#

1 clan of insufferable kitty smurfs < 30 odd billion humans.

distant hemlock
#

The visuals deserve every award they can possibly be given tho

tulip temple
#

Is unobtainium easy to obtain?

distant hemlock
timber dew
#

it's pretty and interesting.... just the plot was a steaming pile.

tulip temple
#

Ok thanks

distant hemlock
#

Evidenced by the fact that they have bulldozers the size of skyscrapers digging it

unborn topaz
#

is this supposed to happen?

timber dew
#

nope

unborn topaz
#

i know but its funny

distant hemlock
#

From a worldbuilding standpoint it rivals lord of the rings. It looks beautiful visually and the creatures are all feasible, well designed, and interesting

#

The story is a flop

timber dew
#

Unobtanium was in veins and those vains tended to be located under Navi sacred sites because the Unbotanium attracted growth that was part of the Ewya network.

distant hemlock
#

Kinda like below zero. Minus the lord of the rings part

#

Since subnautica wont even tell us what year we are in

distant hemlock
#

And has magic boxes that you can put a hunk of metal in and spits out an infinite coffee machine

timber dew
#

but hope you don't need fresh water because that takes a giant techno device

distant hemlock
#

The simple fact that alex ries did bz’s creature designs means they are very unique and scientifically feasible. The world is vibrant and colorful and looks alien

timber dew
#

I find the BZ designs extremely hit or miss

#

for example the shrimp make no sense.

#

they'd be insanely slow with exoskeletons like that.

distant hemlock
#

And of course if you want to take your stuff apart you need some magical alien stuff

distant hemlock
#

True

#

I like holefish tho.

timber dew
#

they were a good idea.

distant hemlock
#

And pinnacarid is best boi

timber dew
#

I wish they'd used the Ice Dragons instead of the shrimp

#

they had the potental to be actually scary

distant hemlock
tulip temple
#

I have never seen a pinnacarid before but I've found plenty of eggs

distant hemlock
#

Since humans havent figured it out

#

But pinnacarids…

timber dew
#

humans are kinda dumb ;P

#

I also miss my friend fish.

distant hemlock
#

If humans would look to nature for inspiration

#

Instead of killing it

timber dew
#

we already do

tulip temple
#

Seriously why can't I ever find pinnacarids

timber dew
#

most of the best stuff is ruthlessly exploited from nature

distant hemlock
#

For example. The sun has been emitting tons of energy for billions of years

#

Why havent we switched to pretty much full solar energy yet

timber dew
#

Want a massive list of reasons?

tulip temple
#

Just like in the original gasopods never spawned

distant hemlock
#

Its a gigantic free source of energy that will last millions of years after our species is extinct

#

Or hydroelectric, wind, so many near limitless sources of energy

timber dew
#

Would you like me to explain the practical reasons why Solar is problematic... and this is from a person with solar on his van

#

And those too.

distant hemlock
#

And we burn stuff and poison out planet

distant hemlock
timber dew
#

that's one

distant hemlock
#

And human dum

timber dew
#

and there's a good reason why people use patrolium

#

It's not human dum

distant hemlock
#

I swear if we figure out fusion

timber dew
#

it's because of practicality.

#

hold up and let me type. Okay?

echo grove
#

theres an among us reference in this game. im done

echo grove
timber dew
#
  1. It's only just now started to become economically viable. For decades solar was extremely cost to performance inefficient. Modern pannels are somewhere around 5 times more efficent than the ones built just 10 years ago.
  2. Solar arrays use a lot of toxic chemicals in their production
  3. Solar arrays age without a lick of grace. Even the best ones start to suffer at about 5 years, really age poorly around 10, and are basically junk at 20.
  4. They're great during the day, during the night, or rain, or when it's overcast they suffer badly.
  5. Energy storage concerns. Lithium batteries (LiFE in my case) are twitchy SOBs that are expensive and toxic to make.
distant hemlock
#

Its because of money too. Clean energy takes too much money. Saving our planet from impending doom costs too much.

timber dew
#

That's the problem with solar

#

UGH!

distant hemlock
#

Again

distant hemlock
#

If we dont switch to fusion

#

When we figure out net positive reaction

#

We are truly doomed

timber dew
#

OrangeTurtle, it's a hell of a lot more complicated than just saying climate change catchphrases, and I say this as someone who is anything but a denier

distant hemlock
#

Ye

timber dew
#

And we've had the tech we've needed for decades... it's called Nuclear Fission.

echo grove
# tulip temple Send a screenshot

not on pc i cant screenshot but like the pda is called “alien intruder- more like alien cheater”, but i don’t remember where i found it

distant hemlock
#

Yes

timber dew
#

did you know a Uranium Breeder reactor can burn its own waste?

distant hemlock
#

Nuclear fission produces extremely toxic waste that takes ages to decompose

echo grove
#

and “Alien Intruder: A game of deception, aliens, and paranoia” which i found in outpost zero

timber dew
#

the problem is they're scared to death someone will steal a little bit and use it to make a weapon.

distant hemlock
tulip temple
timber dew
#

We've had the technology to build them since the 1950s.

distant hemlock
#

Yes

#

But human dum.

#

Destructive nature

echo grove
timber dew
#

Oh, and we've been using hydro from centuries

maiden rampart
#

did they remove the medkit fabricator?

tulip temple
#

Take a picture? Or quote it

distant hemlock
timber dew
#

and wind is mechanically complicated and kills birds.

timber dew
#

I mean large arrays arte basically avian genocide here.

distant hemlock
#

Can we agree that human dum tho

tulip temple
timber dew
#

And the reason we use petroleum is energy density and recharge speed.

It's why ICE beat out electrical in the early 20th centry.

distant hemlock
#

Its not an amogus reference

timber dew
#

You can go 400 miles on a tank of gas and refuel in 3 minutes.

distant hemlock
#

Alternatively

#

We could build more algae farms

timber dew
#

note: hydrothermal depolymerization.

#

look it up

distant hemlock
#

Ok

timber dew
#

It's basically using heat and pressure to turn anything organic into gas.

distant hemlock
#

There is no flawless solution

#

That we know of

echo grove
timber dew
#

We could basically grow corn for food, process the corn husks into gas, then burn the gas which produces CO2 which is absorbed by the growing corn. A more sustainable cycle than what we have.

distant hemlock
#

Carbon emission, avian massacre, wear and tear, etc.

timber dew
#

and side costs. For example, mining for Lithium is an enviromental disaster.

timber dew
#

most green energy is less green and is more pollution colonalism.

echo grove
#

also why do fragments need to be scanned to unlock stuff in this game?

In the first game the reason was “Damage to your PDA's hard drive has corrupted approximately 80% of stored survival blueprints. Blueprints may be reacquired by scanning a salvaged technology using the handheld scanner, or by downloading plans from a ship-board databox. In the circumstances these assets will most likely be found amongst wreckage from the Aurora.”

is there a reason for this game?

timber dew
#

No.

#

Robin dumb.

distant hemlock
#

Bad writing

echo grove
distant hemlock

Robin went to an inhospitable planet without downloading a house builder blueprint first

clear zealot
#

Why is the ||AL-AN Ending|| so hated?

dire minnow
#

People prolly hate it for the wrong reasons ngl

#

People just b like that

clear zealot
#

I think the game is amazing as well as the ending

dire minnow
#

Just said that people prolly hate it for the wrong reasons

#

I don't like the ending

#

I feel the entire game shouldn't have given so much explanation on the aliens and especially the execution and how they did it

#

And then they gave too much exposition on the alien society

clear zealot
#

Hmm

dire minnow
#

Like I feel that the game could've been way better if it hadnt have abondoned its previous style

clear zealot
#

I agree

dire minnow
#

And if it relied on you making up what things were

#

Like the alien sculptures and sanctuaries you find in caches

#

Also did you have any alien PDAs that weren't from alan

#

I don't remember a single one

clear zealot
#

Like logs?

dire minnow
#

Like the terminals you read and the scans

#

I don't think there were any terminals and scans were minimal

#

And Alan just explained everything

#

Like sure you had a buddy but like, it would've been better if it was a story elaborating on alterra, Marg and the sister

#

Liek they even had complete story redos between the early access and release

clear zealot
#

Yeah AL-AN is the only alien

clear zealot
dire minnow
#

And I feel like it would've been better if rather then Alan as your tour guide alterra had maybe discovered some sites or items of significance

#

And we learn partially thru them

#

And if the sister was maybe still alive

#

Because the fact they flopped the story to the sister being dead the entire game sucked

#

Sure it has a slightly interesting plot about what happened and what Marg and the sister did and stuff but it otherwise sucked

#

And the closure you get at the end of her story sucked

#

It's literally the worst ending Ive seen ever

#

You chuck the antidote in and she's like, " I hab closure" story over

clear zealot
#

You mind telling me (in dms) what the closure is? I don’t really want to replay the game for the other ending

#

Or maybe sending me a link to it?

dire minnow
#

Why in dms

clear zealot
#

Because I don’t think this channel allows spoilers 😂

dire minnow
#

Spoilers are fine

#

The closure is just Robin feels like she has closure over her sisters death because she saw what happened with the cave in and was able to complete what her sister never did which was inject the frozen Levi with antidote as Sam wanted to do

#

As you learn form audio logs

clear zealot
#

What type of leviathan was frozen

dire minnow
#

Sam was always against the study and advancement of research into the frozen Levi and wanted to stop it against the Weill of her coworkers

dire minnow
clear zealot
#

Hmm

#

Ok, well thank you!

dire minnow
#

We just get bad descprions when we scan it like
Teeth for eating things
Claws for doing stuff

#

Things that are bland like that

#

They were the worst descriptions ever

clear zealot
#

😂

dire minnow
#

They were describing it like the lion has teeth to eat thing and has claws to grab things

#

So we didn't learn much of it

#

It was almost insulting to read

#

I don't even know if it was that good

#

Or if it jsut said stuff like, this creature has claws

#

I'll get the logs

#

Levi skull
Lots of room for a brain, but it's mostly bone and fat.

#

Claws
Claws evolved to retain traction on the ice

clear zealot
#

Tf

dire minnow
#

Teeth
Sharp teeth for tearing through bone and flesh.

#

It's insulting

clear zealot
#

Unless if that’s all shoved into one PDA log then that’s.. unnecessary

dire minnow
#

All we learn it was a carnivore clearly as we can see it has sharp teeth, it walked on ice since it where I lives clearly and that the face which doenst look muscelly is just fat and bone clearly

clear zealot
#

Better be in one area

dire minnow
#

It's 3 scans where you have to go down to the claws, go to the head and then go to the teeth

#

Each seperate

#

And it's just one bland sentance per

clear zealot
#

Might as well have a whole body scan instead of an individual scan process (if it’s still a complete body)

#

Anyways I’m gonna get off, it’s 4am for me 😂

dire minnow
#

It's complety whole

carmine bobcat

#

carmine bobcat
#

#

Do I bring a medkit and flare and mining scanner

#

so.... bring a beacon everywhere

#

not the scanner

carmine bobcat
#

Medkit and flare?

eternal garnet
#

never leave behind: scanner, repair tool (when you have the truck), one beacon
