Not sure if that's so much a bug as it is how games work; a 2015 save file is now just about 7 years and has seen so much content being changed around that it's not too much of a surprise you will experience issues

However, there's unfortunately nothing you can do but check if you have backups of it. Given you've played on it for such a long time there is a decent chance you have a backed up file floating around somewhere

Have you tried loading it? One time I had one that said it was damage and it actually worked. Try it, mine said the same thing it reset the time and date but was still playable

It’s not actually from 2015 it just reset to that date for whatever reason

I had that happen, the game file isn’t from 2015 it’s some sort of bug that actually resets the creation date to say that. Mine actually still worked despite saying it was “damaged”

That’s the world streaming bug I’m guessing, tell me did the world stop existing in certain areas before you lost your progress? Kinda like in this picture? And you tried to leave but the game got stuck saving?

The only thing you can do is force quit the game, because if it gets stuck saving, it pretty much kills the save

#

Sadly, most of us try to quit thru the menu, which means it’ll try to save, which ends up killing the save ohno

Believe me, I know how frustrating it is, I’ve had it happen before, more than once. And I can assure you this is being worked on to find a way to fix it, prevent it from happening. But it’s proven very elusive in terms of recreating

If it should happen again, force quit the game. Because it’s better to lose progress than lose your save.
If it starts happening, I’ve found you should die in the game, that stops the process of it trying to save corrupted data if it gets stuck in a save loop, THEN force quit. Same principle, you’ll lose some progress but hopefully salvage the save.

This goes for anyone who hears about someone experiencing this issue, tell them to force quit, not try to quit regularly as that’ll end up in a save loop

Oh wow. The last time it happened I was about 12 hrs in, so I was much further. That’s why it’s been hard to track down, there’s not been much consistent with it, which if there’s no reproduction steps it makes it almost impossible to try and get a fix for it. Gotta understand what’s triggering it ya know

The map is a lot more close together than the og game, it was easier to get lost and a lot of places are super open and dark/murky so you couldn't see the landscape nor leviathans as easily as you can in bz so it was nice to have it for the og one but bz doesn't really need it

Never had early access, so I speak only from what was in final release, but it mentions they got hit and had to stop to make “emergency repairs”
Then they got hit again trying to leave, which again a pda mentions from the captain I think, they hoped it wouldn’t mind them leaving (but they left crew behind that were sick) but the ship wouldn’t be in 3 pieces if it wasn’t hit, with catastrophic effect. I guess if you want to say theoretically there were survivors, sure go ahead, but from a pragmatic standpoint I surely doubt anyone survived that blast to our adventure time lol

no there is straight-up a PDA in the game that takes place after they take off
it's one of my least favorite PDAs because the PDA where they make the decision to do the emergency takeoff would've been such a good place to stop that plotline because it lets the player figure out what happened on their own
but instead they just keep it going with that last PDA that has two characters survive against all odds just to relay the obvious to the player like pls

a lot of people who play BZ have likely already played SN so they'd already know how the QEP works and they'd know it's not a good idea to take off
and for people who haven't played SN it's still like. this one fella's really banking on it not happening again if they take off and the player can see for themselves how well that went just from the existence of the wrecks
and that feels like such a stronger end to me than just kind of having that plotline fizzle out with two people suggested to have still been alive

||at the very beginning of the story sam mentions that alterra was going to use kharaa to create bioweapons but no effort was made to ever establish this as being true, in fact it was established as being the opposite because the only plans for kharaa we ever heard about was from one of the researchers who suggested that studying kharaa could advance us by years and that it could be used for life saving treatments and genetic research. there was no moment in the entire story that would've made us go "oh my god sam was right all along!! alterra is bad!!", even though they try earlier on to hammer in "alterra bad" despite never delivering on "alterra bad". they don't even establish any of the significant Alterra personnel as being evil-natured, some of them are secretive and one of them cheats at board games, but otherwise they're all generally good people who are humanized throughout the game by means of PDAs that talk about their families and lovers, plus all their personal belongings||

I definitely don’t want to debate this like it’s an IRL thing, I have to sleep for an appt tomorrow. Do we know for sure they were going to do bad things with it? No. But mutating without having impartial oversight is not a good idea, that’s why we have IRBs for research today, it’s not perfect by any means and that’s granted only for those seeking funding doesn’t really cover corporations but I’m just saying there was plenty of reason for concern when you’ve got a company like Alterra, that based on SN1 made us question their practices, just on their own with no outside supervision handling a pathogen that nearly wiped out a more advanced species and killed untold whatever it was millions? Billions? Not gonna believe Alterra was purely seeking altruism there vvShrug I’m just not that optimistic a person
