i dont know if anybody else knows this but 8192 meters isnt the actual end of the void like if you set the speed to zero using dev console then warp to somewhere like 3 -9999999999999 34, You go deeper and trust me the screen goes so so like seizures and paintings i dont know how to describe it but i like it down there sort of.. it doesnt work in subnautica one sadly only in below zero

My deep regret about playing Subnautica. That is that I can never play it again for the first time. That sense of wonder when I jumped off the lifepod into the sea for the first time can never be repeated. Still played through three time though. Best video game I have ever played.

You could build on top of the ice sheets that cover the Sparse Arctic because it's all flat, but not really any good views on the land because it's all flat

I think what is probably the stupidest thing about below zero in my opinion is ||the main game is all about how the precursors struggle to develop a cure and only the sea emperor can produce the enzyme. but in below zery sam just happens to find two plants that work as a cure for kharaa. on top of that we know the precursors have already been to sector zero and built structures so surely they would have had time to conduct research on the different wild life to create a cure. but they never came up with anything. but of course sam just happens to find two plans that works perfectly as a cure. that's probably one of the things I hate the most about below zero||. makes no sense haha

imo they should've kept the Sea Emperor that used to be in the game in one of the Arctic biomes and you had to get the antidote from that. Maybe Alterra could've moved the Sea Emperor there from the Crater to introduce Enzyme 42 (a PDA entry says that they introduced it but doesn't say how). Sam creates a device that collects and concentrates the enzyme when you use it near the Emperor. This would make more sense than Sam synthesizing an antidote because she is a roboticist and would actually have the skills to build a tool. She stashes the device in the cave instead of the antidote. And then you just have to go out to the Emperor, use the device, and inject the antidote into the Frozen Leviathan like how it is now.

if I remember correct according to the story Sam is a researcher and possibly some has some knowledge of biology. Sam develops the cure and hides it in a cave. so my issue with the story is how Sam came up with a cure when an advanced species couldn't

Like I've said, the Precursors almost certainly had fabricators, and the adult Sea Emperor was producing less concentrated Enzyme 42 the whole time, so they had the scans

I don't know to me it's just not very well executed. you could really try to explain it if you want but I don't like the way it's done. they show it as being extremely difficult to get the cure in the first game only to be easily made from two plants in the next. as far as I know there's no official explanation of why the cure was so easy to make in below zero which means the player just feels like all the hard work for getting the cure in the first game was almost kind of a joke if Sam is just gonna make it in below zero. even if there's a good explanation it's not made very obvious to the player

yea that's a good point. we know that the emperor was producing the enzyme so surely the precursors would've been able to take water samples and study the enzyme to discover it's molecular structure and even try to replicate it with other organics like plants for example the once in sector zero

but like I said earlier. this is the only real issue I have with below zero. I still love the story and I still love below zero. I don't have it for giving the player the cure. I don't really mind it. it fits in that the player needs the cure. I just wish there was more of an explanation to how the player is able to get the cure so easily compared to the first game

Yeah a concentrated form was required to quickly cure the player but they didn't need to use it as the cure, just scan it so they can replicate the cure

the enzyme is most likely made up of some biological structures with DNA and such. we know the enzyme that the emperor produces is weaker but why is that? we don't fully know. but a theory is that the DNA structure is damaged because the emperor is old (or something similar). so if the structure of the enzyme itself is damaged and weak that means when they replicate it they would still only get a weak version of the enzyme

so I suppose the best explanation is that Alterra got their hands on the structure of the full enzyme 42 and was able to replicate it but because the precursors could only get their hands on the structure of the weak enzyme 42 it wasn't to much help

even while saying that it still feels a little unsatisfying. but I suppose it's what you make of it. the story of below zero is still very much enjoyable and I guess that's what counts in the end. but I also kinda like that we can discuss and theorize about the story of this game

They survive off of the detritus produced by the ecosystem around them, so producing and secreting enzymes that benefit the ecosystem by keeping then safe from bacteria is symbiotically beneficial to the Emperor

very unlikely. but like everything in the universe the unlikely will happen. I would say that there's more intelligent life in the universe but we haven't discovered any yet meaning life is to some degree special and unlikely. so if life can happen then so can other things. I believe it's also said in the story that kharaa has killed lifeforms on multiple other planets meaning the precursors has most likely already looked for a cure. it did say they had been looking for a natural cure and they found it. not completely unlikely when you think about it

bacteria do also sometimes share the same structure so if the emperor were to develop a cure for one bacteria I suppose there's a chance it could also work for another? but that's out of the scope of my knowledge so I can't say for certain

oh yea. that's another thing we can talk about. Marg lived for quite a while on the planet without dying from kharaa

I mean we know that the Degasi crew with Bart, his dad and Marg was on the planet and effected with kharaa too. Bart eventually dies from kharaa so it's interesting how Marg was able to survive

@spice seal I don't know all the details but in the old story Robin is on the ground at outpost zero with another researcher called Jeff. Sam is alive and is up in a kind of orbiting space station thingy called the Vesper, controlled by Alterra. Jeff wakes up the architect building we see towards the end of the new story. but a lighting storm hits and they gotta evacuate. Jeff first takes an escape ship but lands again because it doesn't want to leave the research behind. eventually Robin has to send a cargo rocket to the Vesper but Jeff has activated a shield around the area because he discovers Al-An and wants to keep Al-An for himself. and this is where I don't know much more about the old story. supposedly you had to disable the shield and go to space and out in space you would have to fight Jeff, I think? and even though when you first meet Marg all she want is to get off the planet but at the end when you're fighting Jeff she helps you and if I remember correct she even sacrifice herself for Robin

I don't think if I should mark any of this with a spoiler tag cause it's the old story so it's not really relevant anymore haha
