Are you serious

#

Tell me what the materials are

To remind me

spice seal
#

Materials for what?

crimson quartz
#

For high cap tank

#

I just know it took me a whole 2 hours

eternal garnet
#

the problem is finding the blueprint, not the parts

graceful crag
#

Well, that was EASY! For literally the entire fight, he got stuck in the pit surrounding a thermal vent and i could just pound his skull out! He didn't even able to land a hit on me!

#

Well, i forgot there are two... 😬

eternal garnet
#

two? lol.
You aren't meant to kill them

trim forum
#

But you can

eternal garnet
#

you can also eat ants

frank pollen
#

Just finished below zero campagin it was pretty good

graceful crag
#

And that should be the second one

eternal garnet
#

when do we tell him there's 2 more

graceful crag
#

Oh, i already know about those in the ||fabricator caverns||

spice seal
trail socket
#

ramming speed around 10-15 times should kill most of them 😛

eternal garnet
#

that's not how you kill ants

trail socket
#

maybe you need like 20+ on the big ones 🙂

#

tbh the ram damage you take is way to low

#

think its like 1-2 per ram or something silly

prisma peak
#

Entering the ||ice spires|| for the first time on a legit world lol

#

Knowing what lies beyond is not good for anxiety

eternal garnet
#

the snow bunnies?

trail socket
#

haha

prisma peak
#

Hmmm

trail socket
#

have anyone mined the files to find out how the total resource potential of the map?

prisma peak
#

Maybe I should make some thumpers for mining

trail socket
#

my storage area is getting kind of big and I've not even cleaned out the shallows and the twisty bridges area yet

eternal garnet
#

That's not how to BZ 😛

trail socket
#

well I've gone through the story twice so far

#

and my GPU really don't like bases that are to big

#

at least not in horizontal area

prisma peak
#

Yo the resources here are definitely worth the risk

#

Just from veins alone my prawn storage (upgraded x3) is almost full

#

Mostly silver tho. Need more copper and titanium

trail socket
#

damn monkeys are stealing my tools again 😦

crimson quartz
prisma peak
#

Go find ||alan|| and it'll stop

trail socket
crimson quartz
#

I dont think al an is a spoiler

prisma peak
#

Technically is

crimson quartz
prisma peak
#

Anything pertaining to the story is considered a spoiler

trail socket
#

this is not a spoiler free channel anyway

#

the monkeys respawn after 10 minutes if you kill

crimson quartz
#

Ooooff

#

Go find al an

crimson quartz
trail socket
#

as I said I've completed the story so AL-AN is not in my head

crimson quartz
#

Oof.

prisma peak
trail socket
#

its not that big of a deal, just hide the tool if you hear them making that sound they do before trying to snag your tool

prisma peak
#

||Alan|| technically pertains to late game too

#

Since it's not automatically activated, only by proximity

trail socket
#

ehh

crimson quartz
#

If im doing something with the tool i cant just hide it

#

Frickin sea monkeys

trail socket
#

you'll have plenty of time to hide it

crimson quartz
#

My sea monkeys are stealth

#

They come from damn behind.

#

Which i think its a glitch

trail socket
#

and they make a very distinct sound before they try to steal

crimson quartz

I just turn around and see their smiley face.

crimson quartz
trail socket
#

oh wow

crimson quartz

Im not blind or super early,im just a wimp of the ocean

trail socket
#

think I found him in the first 30 minutes or so

crimson quartz
#

Leviathans dont scare me tho

#

Auto correct where are you when i need you

#

And auto correct just appears when i dont need him

spice seal
#

I found it right after I got the seatruck

#

I went in blind and did quite a bit of the early stuff out of order

trail socket
#

I noticed the clues as I was looking for other things like the truck fragments

#

and other tools/equipment

spice seal
#

Yeah I guess I didn't see any of that while I was getting the fragments

trail socket
#

think there are like 3 equipment platforms in TB and at least one if not two of them are close enough to notice the clues

pastel wasp

Just bought below zero

spice seal

trail socket
#

it was at one of those opening a data box I noticed

wise bolt

spice seal

same but bz is still good

pastel wasp

played subnautica a lot

wise bolt
#

I don't like bz

pastel wasp
#

why

wise bolt
#

Idk I don't like it personally

trail socket
#

story might not be as good as the first

#

visually it is much better IMO

wise bolt
#

Not really its teh same visually

pastel wasp
#

i think, generally speaking, gfx could be a lot better

#

like i could see how it could have crystal clear graphics for higher res and settings

trail socket
#

BZ have better textures and more detail

carmine bobcat
#

I got my base all set up

spice seal
#

The new base building stuff is good

carmine bobcat
#

Well most of it

wise bolt
#

Depends on what u play on if u play on a 4k screen with a good pc u will notice the difference otherwise you wont

trail socket
#

pretty sure the average poly count on things is higher in BZ

pastel wasp
#

i can see how the graphics could be better

#

for like 4k at least it all seems a bit blurry idk

trail socket
#

there is a distance blur in game btw

#

some don't like that

pastel wasp
#

idk

#

i still like it though, cant complain

trail socket
#

I think its fine. As I said, maybe not as good of story as before, but ok

#

some of the sounds scared me first time 🙂

#

its not nearly as time consuming to find new blueprints as in the first

pastel wasp
#

yea thats rly true

trail socket
#

98 hours in BZ and 122 hours in Subnautica it seems

#

so not much

spice seal
#

I've got 158 in SN and 107 in BZ

trail socket
#

none of the Steam games are my most played anyway 🙂

#

top 20 on Steam is around 150+ hours with Factorio at over 1200

#

no idea how many hours I've spent in WoW, but probably 4-5k or so

#

probably even more

fluid willow
#

does anyone know if you can connect power transmitters to 2 bases?

spice seal
#

You can't

#

only to connect thermal plants and solar panels to a base

fluid willow
#

i meant having a thermal plant area and connecting it to 2 bases

spice seal
#

Yeah can't do that either

fluid willow
#

thats unfortunate

#

i have so much power too

spice seal
#

Why do you have 2 bases close together though

fluid willow

after i finished the whole base i realized the other base wasnt getting power

#

yeah

spice seal
#

ooof

fluid willow
#

i found out i have to deconstruct a transmitter so it cuts one base off but leaves the other one powered

spice seal
#

You could put multiple thermal plants down and send the power from half of them to one base and the other half to the other base

fluid willow
#

yeah, im thinking of just putting a single solar panel down at the other base since it was only taking 0.01 power

there is one song in the whole game i dont like

i would rather it be gone and the others remain

how many architect componennts do you have

just barge in with seatruck perimiter defense and LEL i have 3 body ccomponents i just need to get to the fabricator caverns

prisma peak

Btw, a warning to those entering the ||ice spires||: if you bring your prawn suit, do not brave the ||ice worms||. They will tear your suit into shreds

prisma peak

If you avoid them, yes

eternal garnet

you trying to kill it or something? you can't

prisma peak

But if you try to walk past one, it will do around 40 damage a hit

sullen surge
#

I learned that when|| ice worms|| attack i fall of my snowfox

prisma peak
prisma peak
#

It's completely unrealistic and a massive inconvenience

sullen surge
#

sometimes my snowfox gets stuck

#

and i have to stay close to the ||ice worm|| so i can pack it

prisma peak
#

The only reason I braved that area was to get 2 full seatruck modules + upgrade3 prawn suit + half an inventory's worth of bulk resources

#

Worth it

sullen surge
#

I don't know if it's normal but I only had to go to the ||ice spires|| once

#

the entire game

prisma peak
#

Once you get the piece for the story, there's no requirement to return

sullen surge
#

hmmm

prisma peak
#

I went in for resources and grabbed it while I was there

sullen surge
#

I went for story, but i remember when i got lost

prisma peak
#

Kinda wish the area was a lot bigger tbh. It feels too cramped

sullen surge
#

i was stuck between 2 ice worms

prisma peak
#

I was hoping for massive, open field of ice

sullen surge
#

and didn't know the way back

sullen surge
prisma peak
#

Kinda renders the snowfox half useless since the icy areas are so cramped

sullen surge
#

yeah

#

i used the snowfox for temperature and dodging ice stalkers

prisma peak
#

Prawn suit is still better tho

#

Kill ice stalkers in seconds and dodge ||ice worms|| easily

sullen surge
#

prawn suit > all

prisma peak
#

Seatruck is better for long distance tho

prisma peak
#

I hate how if you stack large rooms, you cant put partions under any objects placed in the center of the room above

#

It's annoying

potent socket
#

The Seatruck was long and ugly. Everyone liked the Cyclops better the fact that it was spacy and sized.

vocal valley
#

^ True

#

I miss the Cyclops

#

People say it was annoying and clunky but I was good at piloting it

sullen surge
next current
vocal valley
#

If the made the Sea truck’s modules non-stiff and flexible then I would maybe say otherwise

potent socket
#

Also, to add on. Subnautica is not supposed to be a completely horror genre, meaning if you discriminate those who rather find this game as a little violent, you are a woke person. It's like this game wanted everyone to be so "transistical"

next current
#

I never found SN to be violent.

vocal valley
#

Same

prisma peak
#

The cyclops was easy to pilot lol

#

The seatruck sucks compared to it, but it's still better than nothing

vocal valley
#

Exactly

#

I never found it difficult

potent socket
#

Me neither, but there are those who favor non-violent games because of their emo-hipster culture and I find this utterly disgusting. I hate those transists who think they can dictate video games and if we don't find a way to mitigate this threat, they'll spread like disease.

prisma peak
#

It was occasionally difficult to fit through certain spots, but that's what happens when you're the only one driving a 40 foot submarine

sullen surge
#

One doubt

#

Can you turn seatruck inner lights off?

next current
#

No?

#

Why would you want that?

prisma peak
sullen surge
#

But it happened

vocal valley
#

I was excited to try out the sea truck because I thought it would be sort of like a “train” where the modules sway and move behind it as it moves so the vehicle can be more maneuverable, but the thing is practically just a long metal rod that’s slightly bigger than the sea moth

sullen surge
#

Now my seatruck is dark

vocal valley
#

next current
prisma peak
potent socket
#

Subnautica below zero I find was very challenging the fact that the seatruck depth was limited and you had to dive below 200 meters yourself to get the upgrades, modules and speaker logs.

next current
vocal valley
next current
#

1 meter per 3 seconds slow.

sullen surge
prisma peak
potent socket
#

ikr

next current
#

Pretty fast with the Afterburner Upgrade tho.

vocal valley
#

I actually hated and liked that at the same time

potent socket
#

But once you get the upgrades yourself, you realize that it was useless already. Lol.

prisma peak
#

I am currently trying to drain my 4 nuclear reactor rods as to not waste them when I go to move my base

#

This is tedious

next current
vocal valley
#

My current base in the caverns runs on 2 reactors in a separate building

prisma peak
#

Once I get a more adequately located base, I'll have it running on a nuclear reactor with a backup bioreactor and 4 solar panels, just to keep oxygen online if I accidentally drain all my power without noticing

sullen surge
potent socket
#

I meant the seatruck vehicle upgrade. If you dive below 200 meters down to get an upgrade of a seatruck that boosts depth by 300, 400, 500, 600, but in the end, you had to do everything yourself. Unless you get the prawn suit.

prisma peak
#

Even with the prawn suit, that's only a 100 meter difference per upgrade

vocal valley
#

most importantly how is that many modules maneuverable in the slightest?

next current
sullen surge
#

Why do you have so much modules

next current
#

Why not become the Seatruck King?

next current
prisma peak
#

Wait

potent socket
#

I feel like the cyclops made you feel safer from the leviathan as the submarine is huge in size, unlike the seatruck which makes you feel so small and weak. But if they're gonna it into a horror game, I'm not buying sub 3. I'm out. xD

prisma peak
#

Can 100 modules even fit anywhere on the map? That seems like it'd be physically impossible to move around

next current
#

Ever heard of the open waters?

prisma peak
#

It's not everywhere. There's actual landscape littering this game's terrain

#

I imagine the back end collides with objects or even leviathans quite often

vocal valley
#

I mean as long as you don’t take it underground

#

because you probably can’t XD

prisma peak
#

Literally

next current
#

The map for BZ is bigger than everyone thinks.

prisma peak
#

You probably can't even angle it lower than -1° because the modules won't go above water

#

Maybe the lillypads you could eventually lower it farther

vocal valley
#

Now in the first game it would definitely have more space

prisma peak
#

Yeah

#

Other than the shallows, the entire map was pretty open

#

Felt more like a proper deep ocean that way

vocal valley
#

That’s what I liked about the first game, the environment when you were new to the game was huge and ominous

next current
#

You people do realize that the Eastern Iceberg Zone, Western Iceberg Zone, Tree Spires, and the Lilypad Islands are all deep, right?

prisma peak
#

Imagine if the planet was pure water-

#

No land, no bottom

#

Just void

next current
#

Oh yeah... and the Water Void.

prisma peak
#

The ghost leviathan would flourish

vocal valley
#

If there was room for a third subnautica game at some point I would finally have a reason to live lol

next current
#

🤔

vocal valley
#

But as I heard BZ ended the story

#

as far as I know of course

prisma peak
#

Nowhere NEAR

#

If anything, it only made the anticipation of a 3rd game larger

next current
#

If it makes you feel better, they are going to return to the Subnautica series.

Story spoilers, nobody read unless you've finished the game: ||You serious? There are so many problems with this story that it's difficult to choose where to begin. So Sam synthesized a freaking CURE FOR THE KHARA, that in the first game required a unique enzyme to counteract its spread produced by a single species on 4546B, from a pepper and common water plant. What the hell? Then there's the comms tower fiasco, with the parallel processing unit. Then there's the wildly inconsistent conversations between AL-AN and Robin. It comes off as childish "No U!" for most of the time, not a conversation between two perportedly intelligent xeno-biologists. On the note of AL-AN he's apparently a singular and or collective individual depending on the whim of the writers, that is currently chilling within the cerebral cortex of Robin's brain....seemingly without any problems on Robins behalf. So much is wrong with that, that I'm not even going to get into it. Then at the end of it all, he goes back to his capital world to "make ammends" without bringing the pepper juice cure with him. There's just so much wrong with this story that I'd outright give it a 1/10.||

#

||Personally I had more of a problem with how it seems they took a step back from the attention to detail they put into the world and leviathans in Subnautica. The Crater Edge and Lava Zones had a reason to be there because the whole map was a dormant volcano, and the lifeforms that lived in both of those biomes had adaptations to survive there. In the Crystal Caves in Below Zero are just there to look cool and only have rock punchers and tiny fish which can both be found elsewhere and Shadow Leviathans. The void in BZ is still a sheer drop even though there isn't any reason it should be.||

||The Shadow Leviathans would require way more food than was available in their home biomes. They have no adaptations to living in those caves, they're just there to be scary and act as an obstacle. The Chelicerates are also just there to be scary and an obstacle for specific places, nothing interesting about them like a special attack method like the Reaper or some other interesting thing like having a fully explained lifecycle that fit into the world like the Ghost Leviathan, and have the same reaper grab attack as the Shadow Leviathans. The Void Chelicerates are just a longer variant of the normal ones that are reskinned just to look spooky. Other Chelicerates that live on the map attack other creatures like Cryptosuchuses, so we know that these void ones don't just feed off microbes like the void Ghosts in Subnautica did.||

I think it would have worked far better if they were consuming the crystals as a food source, and that they attack anyone in the area as a territorial concern. There could have even been little ones around the place, and the reason for there only being a handful of bigs ones, is that they kill one another off when they reach a certain size. Anyone having texture trouble? All of a sudden my solar panel are ALL white?

I have that sometimes

your device may be out of memory, or video RAM. If the texture is there, but really pale, it's just a lighting bug

Hmm okay. Mine seems very vague. Almost like the finer details are missing. I will try with an update of the GFX driver tomorrow. Have a nice evening.

kind of weird how you change that as you have to use the preset and reduce it from high to normal and then adjust the rest after that

After reading a lot of the comments on a Below Zero YouTube video I'm kinda disappointed that the number of people who think Subnautica and Below Zero take place on different planets is more than 0

Where can I find gold early game? I've found a few but I'm starting to get frustrated

eternal garnet

kelp caves, tunnels under the creepvines

Also in the north ice wall, there's a little cove 1m deep, with silver and gold in the wall. About where you first jumped in

Is it just me or does Robin sound like a man when she gets hurt?

Why did they remove so many upgrades from the game

eternal garnet

totally to annoy you personally

U done failing at being funny?

What kind of answer were you expecting for that kind of question?

slate coral
#

Balancing/game design perspective ?

#

Like, i think someone mentioned some modules not being used as much b4 release when the sea truck thermal charge got dumped

#

But it feels like an excuse to make us constantly swap power cells from the prawn to the sea truck

flat gull
#

I have no clue. But that question would have been a lot better and have some room for a decent reply. Your initial question is crazy vague.

#

Honestly i don't have any issues with that specifically.

slate coral
#

Wich someone migth have thougth would make it more challenging but its just annoying

flat gull
#

I might have too many hours in, but i have rarely ran out of power in any of my recent plays

slate coral
#

True after ion power it just becomes trivial, tbh i just liked the choice that og sn had

flat gull
#

I hardly ever build ion power cells or batteries

#

specifically for the Seatruck i don't really compare it to the Cyclops. It's way faster and way easier to take anywhere and there are also fewer hot areas so i am not sure it would help a lot

slate coral
#

If you liked to use flank on cyclops fire supression was your friend, but otherwise you would go for shield

flat gull
#

(and the map is smaller and it is less deep)

slate coral
#

True, that is one aspect i dont like on bz, they did say og sn was empty but that could be fixed if they just made stuff require more fragments

flat gull
#

Not sure i would have liked that. Was not a big fan of farming through loads of wrecks heh.

#

The games are very different to me. I enjoy both, but for very different reasons heh

slate coral
#

I wouldnt mind because the environmental design was so damn good

#

Id have more excuses to swim arround and enjoy the scenic view

flat gull
#

i recently went back to another playthrough of the original and sadly gave up. I still LOVE the atmosphere. But i am not scared anymore, i don't feel alone anymore and without that it's just a lot of pointless travelling involved

slate coral
#

Had they not scrapped so much concept art i feel sn wouldnt have those issues

flat gull
#

My biggest gripe with BZ is that i don't feel scared anymore and that leviathan's are not scary enough

slate coral
#

Hell, the put a frickin hat on the shadow leviathan

flat gull
#

That said, i realised in my going back to SN that it's likely just me knowing how to handle each of them heh

slate coral
#

They tried taking the stasis rifle away to make you defenseless wich just: ugh

flat gull
#

Never been a fan of the rifle. Feeling helpless against huge creatures is a big part of what drew me into SN

slate coral
#

If sn was a horror game sure

#

But its not

#

Not anymore at least

flat gull
#

Its whole design is geared towards NOT fighting. So i don't care about the genre. It's about the mechanics. And feeling afraid of even Stalkers in the beginning was a big part of the sensation for me personally

slate coral
#

It being geared towards not figthing is another gripe for me, you are supposed to stand there and be thrown arround by the wildlife trying to kill u? If you are trying to make a statement at least give the animals more personality than big n hungry

flat gull
#

But why? I found it well balanced and well explained. I find that a "massacre" being the reason for no more weapons in fabricators way more realistic than i wish heh

#

Anyways, that's just how i felt in the game. It was a big part for me and i seriously doubt Subnautica would have become such a great game/franchise/experience if i could have just shot a Reaper

unique willow

Thanks. I was kinda confused.

slate coral
# flat gull But why? I found it well balanced and well explained. I find that a "massacre" b...

Its not that the balance is off, (that is a whole other can of worms that i can get into later) is that the statement is flawed, a single massacre is used as justification to jeopardize the survival chances of anyone stranded in an alien planet with possibly dangerous fauna/flora "your ship crashed into a planet filled with giant superpredators? Heres a butter knife, hope your kids are fine losing a parent"

eternal garnet

previews is a word too, about seeing things early

slate coral
#

Yea, thanks for the correction

eternal garnet
#

she was refused to go there, so she sneaked in on her own money

slate coral
#

Tbh, she uses xenoworks equipment, idk why the hell she is still under alterran fabricator rules

unique willow
#

So was the protagonist voiced before they overhauled the story?

slate coral
#

Yes

eternal garnet
#

she had two previous voice actors. If not more

slate coral
#

They changed the voice actress (gosh i miss her accent) for robin and a couple of other characters too i think

unique willow
#

Was the story totally different?

eternal garnet
#

it's 80% different

slate coral
#

Robin was way more snarky

unique willow
#

I want to look it up but not if it's going to spoil the game

eternal garnet

You can still play the old story, on steam with a code. Ending is missing
