Some days you're inside the prawn. Other days the shrimp.
I need to make my battery charger
Look for smooth shiny rocks.
Why
What are they’re names?
Argentite or something.
Argentite
Argent for silver, calaverite for gold, galena for lead.
Limestone for copper
Eh, I think most players figure that one out.
:p
Though it is kind of amusing watching LPs on youtube from people who played the first game, and not expecting the changes.
Calaverite is the old sandstone outcrop, but now only has gold and titanium in it, instead of gold or silver.
And the rarer outcrops never made it to BZ.
How do I enter the ||vent garden||
Snarky side of me wants to say the butt, accurate side knows that isn't the butt.
From the base of the tentacles
Ok
All over the place on land, away from Phi.
It does that. amazingly stealthy for a 50m lobster demon.
Sort of surprising, really. Not ONE predator in the Subnautica franchise actually tries STEALTH.
Even the supposed ambush predators lunge and snarl giving themselves away well before they can hit.
I can't seem to get into the ||vent garden||
i got jumpscared by a shadow leviathan just for a screenshot of him
There is a hole on the bottom of it.
I tried to go through.
yeah under it
Almost got eaten.
Its kind of finicky to get into. Bad collision.
wait how big is it?
Yeah, I was thinking that question, too. It can only be the two stationary big vent gardens.
Funny to think some people play these games in VR.
Quite the contrary. It loves you like an Oreo cookie.
I'm being a homie and the thing tries to eat me
I'm just a homie, nothing else
Apparently it likes homies
It was hugging you
Nah, the reaper is the hugger.
What is this shrimp doin then
Interpretive dance. It is interpreting you as food.
I unpaused and the chelicerate dragged me to my max depth
I am just glad no sadist has programmed in a leviathan with Mesmer/Lily Paddler like abilities.
Delete that
oh you can definitely have giant lily paddlers with a mod
Eh, even if the devs do see it, it will probably be a passive leviathan.
So why does it hypnotize you
how i build bases on land
Reefback analog with a cloud of hallucinogen around it to make predators loopy and less likely to attack.
Ah
Same as in water.
some differences: Hatches get stairs. There's no risk of leaks. Water machine doesn't really work
And it was right next to my seatruck
And said stairs are glitchy as hell.
I want a squidshark as big as an adult ghost leviathan with warping wnd hypnotizing skills
Pls no
I was imagining two scenarios for a third game:
-Something like the Namib Sand Sea, a desert right at the edge of the ocean, so you have scorching heat on one side, and the depths of the ocean on the other.
-A deep sea cave system that never got flooded but has moonpool like exits out into the ocean.
That's what I was thinking
Land map with flooded caves beneath
The issue with the first being, stubborn players WOULD go out as far as they could in EVERY direction.
I just did a backflip In the seatruck
So the desert idea would need sand worms or such to eat the player for trying to go too far inland, but then leaving the edge between the ocean and sea REALLY hard to justify with monsters.
I want a 10x10km map
It already takes them a long time to make the 2km by 2km one.
What does the horsepower upgrade do
I have patience
Towing power for pulling modules without losing speed, I think.
Ah
I can create a aquarium thingy for the seatruck
I'll afk while I wait for the spiral plant to grow
I think my favorite spot for a base, is just south of Delta Island. Right at the edge of the drop off into the tree spire biome (I think. where the water goes purple). You can just see the first chelicerate and the juvenile vent gardens can migrate by.
Plus its close enough to the Mercury II for quick titanium, and Koppa for other ores.
Sorry
Sup my holy amigos
Wrong channel
Not you.
?
I said what
Why do plants grow slow for a video game but fast for irl
I just want my plant
68%
Still
I don't have god does that help?
Sure
Console can
He said yes
Yay
It now grows 1% faster
Subnautica creatures be like
Ew
what is that
Dried up sting ray
it looks like a cross between a baby a bat and a dragon
Lmao
Yeah i kinda does actually
aliens will find it in a few thousand years and they will piece it together to assume it was what humans looked like
It looks like it stinks
yes
Another fun spot, if you like Chelicerate watching, is the south end of the really long ice sheet.
It stretches from the land all the way south to almost next to Delta Island, and has a chel right below the end of it, that comes to the surface now and then, too.
no...
So why are they so small
i love the chelicerate watching
imagine existing then you see a chelicerate outside your window
Just gonna nope right out of that reality, thanks.
Though I would love if sea monkeys and pinnicarids had more interactions with your base. Tapping on the windows, looking in, etc.
that honestly would be fun
That sounds scary
I don't want things tapping on my windows
chelicerate tapping on your windows
Chelicerate doesn't scare me
See, THAT would be the nightmare. If the leviathans could and would actually attack your base. See you through the window, go in for the attack, and suddenly you have to run around with your repair tool.
It would make a lot of sense if they could tbh
in theory glass should break entirely if damaged
Yes
water pressure would help with that
your base would flood almost instantly depending on how big it is
The true nightmare if ever introduced to Subnautica: realism.
subnautica below zero in vr but a shadow leviathan spawns every minute
in a random location of the map
Current world record scuba dive (basically what we do in SN and BZ) is 332m.
dang
Death run introduces personal crushing depth and decompression
Makes everything more realistic
And harder
A lot harder
And it took him 12 minutes to get down there.
That's not that long
How long did he take to get back up
15 hours, it says.
Yeah...
dang
No thanks 👀
he needs an air bladder
below zero is kind of unrealistic if you think about how divers need to exhale or their lungs will expand too much
and explode
Nah, it was an official Guinness Record observed dive, so I imagine they took all precautions, hence how long for both times.
It would still take ages to get back up safely
all you need in bz is a rebreather and you can go however deep you want
Which sort of makes the alien tech that much scarier. Teleporting from a few hundred meters below sea level, even if in a cave, back up to sea level itself.
Yeah ....
i feel like they couldve done more with the bz story a bit
Teleporting from 1.4km to the surface
but i guess you cant complain because it has more story than the original
It HAS a story, rather than just lore to find.
oh
You could play the entire first game, and not encounter ANYTHING of what story there was, except for the final bit.
They should've made the 2 side stories required to complete the main one
And make squidshark leviathan
I dunno. it already cripples gameplay of many people out of fear
i was scared of it but it doesnt really grab anything
it just emits electric shocks
make it a little smaller, and remove all leviathan references to it
Nah, I say go for it. Rename the ones we see as Juveniles. REALLY let people sweat.
Even if they never put an 'adult' in the game after that change, it would stick in the minds of players.
That's why I want
I want this but worse
Credit where its due, he didn't jump when it attacked. Only spilled the coffee because the whole ship got shaken by it.
What's the point of putting this in the trailer if it isn't actually in the game :(
it provides no spoilers. It's good. And it's Fred
It provides lies.
no, it concievably happened
Though it raises a question: In one of his PDA entries, he mentions being chased into the shallows by something big, and hiding from it. Here, he shows no fear, so it seems unlikely that it was a squidshark that attacked.
Fred left when Alterra shut down, which was because of the accident
Plus, the whole trailer would have to be from before said accident, as it ends with him finding the leviathan.
Murgle was finally free from the bird droppings
I'm making a fourth nuclear reactor for my base
why do you need that much power
Cause I want to,and you never know when it could come in handy
It did happen
you can still find the coffee stain
Before you went on the planet
I don't care I'm just disappointed there isn't an actual grab attack for the squidshark against the seatruck
It’s for the trailer lol
The grab attack is already overused
The only thing using it is big shrimp
Yep sad
I made a base with 10 nuclear reactors once
its a hella time getting resources to power all 10, but the power is nice
never drop below 21,000
Grab attacks? ||Shadow Leviathans|| also have a grab attack.
That's arguable. <__<
Nope it's not :p
Yes it is... >__>
You have your opinion and I'll have mine. And this date will be okay.
Not everything needs to be a Leviathan I’m fine with the Squidshark as is
Yes.
I certainly prefer Shadow over the Squidshark as a leviathan
But Squidshark is good at the size it is
Squidshark wasn’t designed to be giant and it’s appearance reflects that
It’d look pretty weird scaled up huge imo
I too am fine with the Squidshark being a large carnivore.
hi guys
i would like to know if the next update for the game will be erase our solo story that's we have maid until now
No, there's very little risk of that
i've noticed that the previous update was in may
so i was curious about this cuz usally we were used to get an update each 3 mouth
and i also would like to know if the story is completed like can we finish the game 100 % or not
it's complete, yes. Since May 14
ok ty so that's means upcomming update will only be bug fix ?
I'm on "experimental". 2 days old. There's nothing new, only fixes. So I think yes
Things like: unscannable prawn arm, Parked prawn getting attacked by leviathans
I've never had an unscannable Prawn arm.
it's by the statue artifact
last time that i pllay there was a dupp bug back in february version is it fixed ?
Huh, strange. Everyone else is having bugs but me...!
Hit ore with both prawn arms (no tools attached). I don't know any other dupe bugs
What is this thing I found? It's next to the glacial dock and has one of those big architect cables running through it
I hope that in a future SN game that they BRING BACK THE SEAMOTH!
Laser Cuttable Ice Wall that can only be cut through the Arctic Spires Entrance.
What's in it?
The Seatruck is basically an ever-so-slightly slower Seamoth.
That Vehicle is shown in basically every underwater concept art for both games, it is Subnautica’s most iconic vehicle, and it’s more useful.
Other than the lack of space in the seamoth, I still find it iconic compared to the cyclops, seatruck, and prawn suit.
Well... considering that an Architect Cable leads inside of it, one can only assume that Architect Technology lie within.
mmmmm ok.
I've been playing through all of below zero without the prawn. It is so useless in below zero compared to SN
Well it doesn’t help that the seatruck can go to far depths, just like the prawn
Well, the Prawn was also optional in SN.
The Lava Castle had chunks of Kyanite that could be picked up.
But the Prawn was a million times more useful in SN. It made the seamoth obsolete
Mainly because the seamoth couldn't go to the deepest part of the game
I mean... fair enough.
Yeah but didn’t the original subnautica not have the smaller Kyanite chunks?
Also it lost its speed ability
It did, in the Lava castle.
Prawn is much faster in BZ, as it can boost forward now
Seatruck is so cozy
Can the seamoth play tunes?
But it lost the grapple arm boost
Sleeper mod
Sleeper Module is for the Seatruck, not the moth.
Oh right sorry
Therefore, the seatruck is very arguably superior
Seatruck is good. Only downside is speed when it has modules attached
That's fair. Also it's size can get a little unbearable with too many modules.
It'd be awesome 😎
I mean, The creatures in BZ are already big enough as they are now.
Well if the squid shark would be slightly bigger and able to grab a sea truck it'd be super cool 😎
And that there's no planter module 😔
Yeah idk why they had to make all the separate small compartiments, I'd rather just have one big one.
The planter module existed once
I'm stuck in the game and there are no directions. I have built the body but I can't do anything with it. What do I do next?
Why was it removed
Wdym you cant do anything
is there a wall blocking you from touching the body?
Like an invisible wall
yes. Save and reload, that fixes it
Ok
Are all the parallel processing units in the ||mercury II?||
I have only found 2 of them, can't seem to find the third
yes, but the ship split in 3 parts. So there are more wrecks
I have to find another wreck for the third one?
Or its in the same wreck?
I'm in the lilypad wreck
I don’t know
I don’t think a reason was ever given
Just not seen as very useful
Stupid
Capacity would have been quite low
How is it less useful than aquarium module
Waste of your resources
I thought you could breed fish in it I swear
And scanner battery
Damn, thats harsh
Anyways potato help me out
@lean notch
No accident just pure ebic gamer skills
Then I realized you have to get 3 fragments

Ah yes.

I've been looking for hours man, can't find the third
Idk if I'm missing a door or something
Well the aquarium module actively collects fish
In the like small electrical boxes you have to open with laser cutter
It makes sense to me
I've opened every chest in that wreck that I've seen
I dont see how a planter modules where you can grow food would be less useful
not a chest. And 3 of them are not behind a panel
What do you mean
Theyre not all sealed in the boxes
units are not in chests
Makes sense
some are behind panels, some are missing the panel
Should I look more into the lilypad wreck?
I don't know which one contains 3

so... just find the purple vents wrecks. Two of them
Ahh alright then
The bow wreck,, fhe one in lillypads is the biggest i think so probably in that one
but thats where he was
Yep
There's rooms that are kinda blocked in that wreck too
And it's a maze
I've almost died cuz i ran out of oxygen because i couldn't find the exit there multiple times
Now I just beat the game
I have had no crashes on PC. But there have been no PC update since may
Yeah I haven't had any crashes either
Well I have, but cause was GPU
I went back to the lilypad wreck, and listened to you about them being behind the panels, I had to cut through with a laser cutter
Got my frags and did the ||satellite radio||, and after hours of searching for Margarette's damn ||green house|| she gave me a PDA about her and Sam talking
But it isn't helping me at all
@lean notch I need your help
she also gave you a food recipe that is way overpowered
Oh the salad...I didn't make it, how is it overpowered?
cure the frozen guy?
I have found all the artifacts that Alan signaled me to
Who Tf is the frozen guy
Haven't found that yet
South-west bit of the glacial map. By a tower
The map has a big clue about the cure
Yo yo don't go too far, based on the Ps4 trophies I'm only missing 3 except the platinum
One is using an|| antidote||
Second is|| constructing a vessel ||
Third is leaving 4546B
Someone said there are || 15 artifacts|| I have only found 6 myself
after 10, you get no more rewards. And you won't get more clues now
The glacial basin map
Which part of the bridge is it showing? The one that has Ice worms?
Or the one that has the || phi robotics center||
told you. South-west, that is bottom left innit. And tower.
Does flares burn out???
it appears they don't, if you don't throw them
I was in a snow stalker territory and the flare just disappeared
I was in water tho, might have dropped it accidentally but just wanted to make sure if they burn out or not
I heard they burn out after a minute
H u h
oh but there is. Around most places you aren't allowed to climb for one thing
Oh hmm?
eg. on top of outpost zero
Ah i see
i have never seen a snow stalker apart from the one with marge
I was messing around in creative and prawn suit parkoured my way out of bounds
XD
then you have not explored the basin
They mostly roam the Glacial Basin. Some can be encountered in the Arctic Spires.
you know outpost zero use dto be the spawn point in early access
yes yes
like the spawn point when you make a new game
Beyond the glaciers are flat
where you aren't meant to go, can be super flat and boxy yes
Well yeah, that's the Tundra Void. You're not really supposed to be up there.
also in early access the big salmon leviathans only ate other leviathans and prawns and seatrucks but not you.
on steam, you can still get somme of these early versions
🤔
i still have an early access version i have 3 different subzeros but only one of them is full game other 2 are early access
On Steam, almost all Early Access Versions are available to play.
the first one doesn't have a glacial basin (well, it does, but it's just ice), no cryptosuchus, no deep parts etc
guys do yall pprefer subnauticas soundtrack or below zeros soundtrack
I prefer OG over all but some of the BZ tracks are great, and the jukebox tracks are epic
I never cared much for the original’s soundtrack, I haven’t properly listened to BZ’s I should do that
it's really pretty. ice falls and stuff. For escaping outpost zero when it collapses
So far I definitely prefer BZs soundtrack by a long shot
So we used to start in outpost zero
Basically means we used to be with samantha?
no, she talks to us in an orbiting station
Oh
Yeah she used to be alive and talking to you
So outpost zero collapsing due to avalanche had an event?
Yes
You’ll be able to find old videos on YouTube probably
I preferred older drafts in all honesty
I play on ps4
From the deleted biome
Thats a fully fledged biome
it's not big
Cani access it using prawn suit
I haven't heard that before. Not really a biome, just unedited land. it's barren snow
What game did you guys prefer, BZ or the original? I’m just curious for opinions
Both
Yeah that place was nice.
there wa san avalanche disaster that struck outpost 0 in early access
I personally preferred the original, even though I did like BZ. BZ just didn’t have the same level of terror and fear the original had, I was never scared to go anywhere besides the void in BZ, In the original I was terrified if I left the red grass zone or safe shallows
Also the leviathans just were not as scary personally, I didn’t even the chelicerate was a leviathan until I scanned it, because it’s not scary
Once again, I mean no disrespect to the developers i did enjoy the game, I just think the original was so much better because you felt so much more isolated and terrified, I’ve played subnautica 16 times at this point and it’s still scary every time
In BZ by two hours and my first encounter with the chelicerate I had pretty much zero fear
Idk it’s just my opinion, I still enjoyed BZ, but I just didn’t fall in love with it like I did the original
I mean I’ve beat that game 16 times with a bunch of different self-imposed challenges
BZ I was good with my one completion
I'm there. Spot whats in the distance
Outpost zero
MINE!
The child
You can still get into the frozen river with console commands, just not through normal play.
I preferred Subnautica for lots of reasons, like the Cyclops and some other world and leviathan reasons I went into detail about here #below-zero-ps message
BZ was still great but def not as good
I got there with prawn only. But there are a lot of invisible walls
What are those power transmitters doing there?
yeah you don't need power transmitters for stuff that's attached to the base
oh ok
you can even put them on the ground within a couple meters
I 100% agree. BZ was pretty good, but I just didn’t fall in love with it like did sn1. I mean, the first time I saw a chelicerate, I didn’t even know it was a leviathan. And part of what I loved so much about sn1 was the terror and the fear factor the remade exploration so invigoration and made it feel so exciting
Yeah the terror in Subnautica was great, you feared leviathans because you could hear and see them from far away and you got scared of what they could do to you instead of purely them scaring you. BZ Leviathans can't be heard from far away and you can't see the ||Shadow Leviathans|| from far away pretty much at all in their home caves. They even follow a patrol route around the biome so a big part of the fear in them is just jumpscares when they come out from around a corner and immediately attack. In SN all the methods of avoiding leviathans were very defensive like silent running which contributed to the fear, in BZ the only option is just to shock anything in your way so they'll run and leave you alone for a few minutes.
Yes for sure. One thing I noticed is that everything is very bright in BZ, pretty much everywhere in the game there are things that are bioluminescent. In subnautica it wasn’t like that, it was much darker and big part of the terror was hearing something and knowing it was there but not where. Even the inactive lava zone was decently dark, but in BZ the deepest areas in the game are lit by a bunch of crystals
Also the feel of isolation you get in sn1 is pretty much eliminated with AL-AN and marguerit introduced. It’s not completely gone, but it’s certainly nullified. In the original there was absolutely nobody. The only thing that ever talked you was the pda and a leviathan you can’t talk to until nearly the end of the game. In BZ you have an alien literally in your head and another human as well
And like I’ve said I mean no disrespect to the developers, I enjoyed BZ. I just think the original was more the right direction for a game like subnautica.
Yeah exactly, it was still a great game and the base building and qol additions were great
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
And the ||ice worm|| is actually pretty good imo, you can hear their roars all over the biome and they fit into their environment well. I do wish the breach animations that you can see in the debug area happened, I don't think I've ever seen that happen.
Iceworm is original
What?
I mean. The ice worm is a Crabsnake on land if you wanna say that
no, the Subnautica leviathans fit into the ecosystem, BZ ones aren't like that
Iceworm adds a challenge tho (alot more than its aquatic cousins)
There’s not much original about the Ice Worm conceptually… just a cool animal.
If you want more challenge don’t use perimeter defense
Yes
The leviathans are bad yes
There isn't any other way to defend yourself though other than that
But iceworm feels different for me
Every leviathan between both games makes no sense from an “environmental” standpoint
I don’t think the leviathans of BZ are bad at all
Aggressive leviathans that is not the passive ones so much.
I think people had overinflated expectations to be “scared” when in fact, there’s only so much you can do to make a “big scary sea monster” imo
What if the devs hired a new team for thd third game
After you’ve played Subnautica you’re expecting it
No i played bz first
I wouldn’t like that
A new team of what?
For making the third game
The world design team especially has done a great job and improved massively between the games
It’d be a shame to drop that for no reason.
ok maybe not
Sea Dragons are huge and live in places without a lot of food, so they go up to the surface biomes to hunt smaller leviathans. The Ghost Leviathans have a fleshed out life cycle which means that all the places where you can find them makes sense. BZ ones are just kinda thrown in wherever they needed a scary roadblock, we have no clue what they eat most most of the time.
BZ is all around a much better game it’s just different & that’s fine if some people don’t like it as much as the first, but I don’t think the design is at fault
Ah but you miss the point that they’re huge in tbe first place for no reason
If we wouldve gave the devs like 1 year more time i think we wouldve gotten better game
Better how exactly?
Ecologically it makes very little sense for a Reaper Leviathan to be 55 metres long
And even less for a Sea Dragon to be 112
they are huge for the same reason pretty much all creatures that are big are, so that it is harder to eat them and easier for them to eat others
Snacking on a few sandsharks & stalkers doesn’t come close to meeting what would be expected to be caloric needs for a reaper lol
the size disparity between them and the next largest stuff is enormous
In the end most of the stuff is to be explained away by a broken food chain as a result of Kharaa
They might be unreasonably large but they at least tried to back that size up with what they eat
Most likely
The shadows are huge and they just live in a cave with rock punchers and tiny fish, that makes way less sense than the ones in the original even if what they ate still wouldn't realistically be enough
I could imagine it happening tbh
The Ice Worm is the worst between both games by far
Why is it that big
What does it eat
snow stalkers we can literally see them do that ingame
They’re kinda just a patrol/nuisance
They do grab snow stalkers but what else could they get to
How does it tunnel without absolutely destroying the area it lives in in a very short time
Yes how MANY snow stalkers
It is 95 metres long
It is producing enough heat to boil water in its horn
They have innovative ways of moving around through ice and new attacks, both other leviathans just have reaper grab attacks slapped on
Again they’re so big & to make so much energy for heat production they’d hunt snow stalkers to extinction
The land animals are a mess
Land has 3 animals that live on it potentially all of them are predatory and one of them is 95 metres long
I think the shadows at least have a cool design I’m not gonna overthink the ecosystem, because neither game has a fleshed out ecosystem
The pda entries in BZ are really great though I was impressed
Hm.
There’s a few that are nice
The Eye Jelly’s is pretty much just sentences lifted off of various Wikipedia articles
Well i mean
Others make errors that are also clear evidence of that
I can picture a diet
For the shadow leviathan, maybe it just preys on red feather fish and eats ribbon plants
But at least the science is there for a lot of them, coming from a strong biology background & also having some cryobiology knowledge as well (we get a little in medical training, not a lot but some) it was pleasant to read
The shadows mouth seems acidic enough to eradicate a seatruck
hi
So it might have a diet of ribbon plants
Considering crystal caves has alot of ribbon plants
I mean same but that’s why they irritated me lol
Hi
Like how the entry for the Glow Fungus mentions the molecule luciferin
Luciferin is not a molecule
Which isn’t
It is a blanket term for any type of molecule that combines with an enzyme to produce light
It is not a molecule
Its molecules?
There are various completely unrelated luciferins
The correct wording would have been that the Glow Fungus uses a luciferin molecule or a type of luciferin
But does my shadow leviathan diet make sense?
Or even calling it a protein, some are though not all.
The chelicerate are like a mix of reaper and ghost leviathan but slightly different
the only thing that doesnt make sense to me is where they breed
The entries from the first game were bad in their own ways and the entries in this one are bad in different ways. It’s not all bad I don’t mean to sound so negative.
I didn’t enjoy Tom’s delve into phylogeny in the first game. He made some… strange links
The ghost leviathans had a physical appearance of their breeding grounds
wait a second
How do reapers breed?
Probably the same way almost everything else does
We don't know, they and the Sea Treader don't have eggs anywhere ingame
I don’t recall any specifics
but presumably how pretty much everything else does yeha
I don’t know why you’re questioning them when they’re not the only animals that we don’t see with eggs or a breeding ground
I mean they could give birth like mammals
It's a chemical reaction isn't it, so it's not producing that heat normally
You’ve got to put quite a lot in for a reaction that volatile
The energy doesn’t come from nowhere
yes but what if the reaction took in a span of a long time
A lot, but there could definitely be other areas where snow stalkers live outside the areas we're able to explore in game past the ice walls
The whole pda entry about the horn reaction doesn’t quite make sense but by then I was just like..yeah sure ok whatever😂
Reason : it sounds cool so put in
Oh I completely forgot what that was
What did they say I did read it one time
The wiki is out of commission rn..
But even if there isn't enough food to sustain them, I find that more realistic than having just about no food to sustain them like the shadows and void chelicerates especially
All the ores are real tho
Shadow leviathans have food
Something about the horn reacting violently with ice to make water & heat?
Jade membranes, ribbon plants
ohhhh yeah that must be why I can't find the databank entry for it on the wiki page, I just remembered it
No they just melt the ice
And then use the tiny spikes on its body to move
The wiki is going through a merge
It was due to some chemical in the horn
Rock punchers, tiny fish, plants. Not really
Ammonia?
We are merging together the Below Zero and Subnautica wikis and currently the Below Zero wiki is all messed up because of it!
Alkali of some sort I think
Ribbon plants, jade membranes as easier source
It will be okay eventually
Oh yeah alkali metals I assume
I suggested that as a possible explanation ages ago
Seems I’m not the only one with that idea
yeah I said plants
that's still nowhere near as much as they said could sustain leviathans in the original
I mean its digesting blue fluid can destroy a seatruck
Shadow Gorons xD
that ribbon plant acid is strong ._.
Sorry, Legend of Zelda joke
Np
rocks still aren't sustenance unless ig if you were made of rocks
Whoop
They eat the rock grubs I think
No, they eat the rockgrubs off the rocks and throw the rocks out
Hmmm
You can collect the rocks they leave behind
Ive seen a seamonkey bring nickel
Not sure how they get supersonic punching ability
one time I parked my seatruck close to the ground outside koppa and there was a rock in the cabin when I came back
Lol what
im kinda forced to say subnautica because i have 600 hours in it and only 40 in bz
They collect minerals, that doesn't mean they eat them
The real question is how do the rock punchers bring Rockgrubs to their mouth
Yes ik
Rockgrubs are small shrimps
I got magnetite from a sea monkey in the kelp caves from having a recipe pinned with it in it so they really will bring stuff you need if you have it pinned
there's a whole animation of them eating ingame
Man.
Shadow leviathans could just eat rock punchers
Rockgrubs have claws
Lemme pick up this ant with my wooden club real quick and delicately place it within my mouth
it picks up the whole rock
and even then most of my time in bz was me forgetting to close my pc when i go to bed
Ever eaten crabs? Not a lot of meat. That’s why you get a mess of them and a teeny tiny fork
Rock Punchers should have been designed with 1 puncher and a grabby arm.
Shadows leviathans could just eat the grass thats below ribbon plants
Is the shadow leviatjan just a large angry cow
Might be
This is compelling
😂
I've got 100 hours in BZ from beating the game once and clearing a couple biomes out of titanium, building a base in creative, and my sister played on my pc for some hours
My sister played on bz too
she likes forcing me to switch because she wanted to play
I’ve got like over 500hrs across platforms and I seriously don’t worry about what the different critters eat lmao
The mouth of the shadows seems like it would be used to suck on dead leviathans and then eat them that way, but there's no way there are enough Chelicerates to sustain them, there are 4
If they didn’t move around so much you could propose a life style like the giant squid.
They can eat red feather fish and stay dormant most of the time
and that's fine but one of the things that made Subnautica so great is how the world it took place in felt like it could exist without a player to scare or something, and this convo started with me using how BZ doesn't feel like that to justify liking Subnautica better
They literally constantly swim laps around specific patrol routes in the caves
I do not know how you ever felt Subnautica could exist lol
Personally never felt that myself
The world never made any sense but it’s cool.
I can tell
I don’t notice such things tbh
But like I said I think it’s fine some people like one or the other more. I find they’re quite different in approach so I don’t try to really compare them a lot in my mind, other than the things that are so much better in BZ of course like the QoL & other stuff
My entire interest in Subnautica stemmed from the animals
And from the viewpoint of speculative evolution
then why do you not like them so much
But it didn’t really go as much in that direction as it was originally conceived as
Thank you for continuously coming up with these things it’s a great read
I’ll take nuclear powered shadow leviathan
Yea it kinda makes sense
The sea dragon already eats lava we gotta go to the next step
The rock punchers and outcrops supply the shadow leviathans with urinite
You misunderstand me
It’s aquatic Charizard xD
seadragon charizard
The larvae are the charmanders and the lizards are the charmeleons
waterizard
I remember back in the day theorising that the Sea Dragon was an alien-created Lava Lizard mutant
That was a long time ago. We had very little to go on back then…
The only problem with subnautica is that it requires A BEAST PC else is ok
Soo
doesn't have any roles 🤔
it's nuclear waste
Idk if it's a bug or the bioreactor is just this good, but my bioreactor has not consumed a single item for several hours. Is this a well known bug?
putting gatorade in the bioreactor makes it run forever
basically these items alone have been keeping it running for at least 10 hours
not sure if it's a bug or not
it might be because the solar panels take priority, but the bioreactor still runs at night
The bioreactor animation is just that, it’s not tied to energy production (highly doubt it) so you’re correct the solar panels will create energy when there’s sunlight & store it like a battery. The bioreactor will start consuming energy when the solar panels are depleted, if there is still energy draw occurring
Fish are generally good for energy value, so are gel sacks. Idk about ribbon plants but since they take the place of acid mushrooms in BZ & mushrooms were pretty decent in Subnautica they’re probably pretty decent as well. So I’m not surprised those would last awhile
Those root pustules also give the most energy out of anything in the game
Heh suppose that’s good you can use them for something😂
You don’t use them much for anything else
Like 2 of them that’s it
Can someone help me please
So in the alien cave part I got stuck on some debris and cant move
What should I do
Ok hold on
Sorry it took so long lol
im stuck
Yea
Here
I tried everything already
Ive tried jumping
Everything
Thats fine
Heres a clip
press F3 and click on enable console
do F8 to get a cursor
Ok
and click on "disable console"
Yea
and do comamnds and stuff
What do I type
idk about the commands but u can find it in the subnautica: below zero wiki
what do i type to get into the commands
How do I get into the commands
Console or pc?
Pc
Press F3, then press F8, then find and click the "diable console" checkbox. If the checkbox is empty, press enter
That should work
Where are you stuck?
^
Can't help if I don't know the details
Is that at sanctuary zero?
Not sure
Ok, one second
Thanks
Once you have console commands enable, open the console and type "warp -551 -199 -488" (without the quotations)
This will warp you to another location in the general area, probably right in front of the gate to Sanctuary Zero
You can then walk out as you please
Np mate
@carmine bobcattold ya someone would know 😛
Lol yea thanks buddy
Once you learn console commands, it becomes easy to figure out how to fix minor problems lol
Yep. If you get stuck again, try to figure out where you are. Then google it's coordinates, and enter that command (but replace the coordinates I provided with the ones you need)
It'll warp you to an area that should allow you to move around again
It's actually still cheating if you suck
uncle iroh
Not really. The console was primarily designed for things like this. That's why it's main name is "debug console"
It was meant to help the devs test for bugs, glitches, and problems in the game (without doing an entire playthrough), avoid them temporarily while they continue to test, and allow them to report the bugs to whoever would fix them
But, they left it in the finished versions of the game
I'm assuming so that nobody in the community would have to lose progress if they ran into a glitch
Too bad the console can't help with crashes >:[
Lol I missread "stuck" for suck
Lmao
True it's still considered cheating by the game tho
Only because there are cheats you can activate, and it would take too much more coding to decide which commands keep achievements and which ones disable them
It was easier just to say "if the console is enabled, achievements are disabled"
There should just be an unstuck button
Good idea. In the pause menu, press "I'm stuck" and it warps you 10 meters back in the direction you came from
Ok, maybe 2 meters instead...
10 might be too much
Any suggestions on cool places to put a large base?
Also, where can I find these ||"Ice Worms"|| you guys speak of. I've never encounted one on the ice
Despite running around all of the glacier area around the ||phi robotics and excavation site||
I'd have expected to see something, but nope. Nothing but a small hole with a PDA referencing them
Arctic spires
For the ice worms
Can squid sharks grab the sea truck?
On the lillypads maybe?
Sadly not
I saw it in the trailer and was very scared of the lily islands
I meant more somewhere on the ice lol. I'm on the lilypads rn, they're neat but kinda underwhelming
They can only grab players
Any recommendations on where i should build my base
Glacial forest maybe
That the place with purple trees?
Ye
Or at the glacial bay dock
If you mean the place you go to to find the robotics...
That might not be a bad idea
Yep, that place
Looks cool
That could be decent
Oooh. I wonder if I can get on the cliffs...
Oh wait, I can
types ghost into console
I need to get the parallel processing unit
Kinda wish the game had multiplayer. Having a massive seatruck would be more viable for transportation of players and supplies
And it'd make big bases more necessary
Multiplayer subnautica sounds amazing
Agreed
Well nitrox will probably do below zero after they're done with the first game
It'd be epic.
I'd literally pay an extra 20 bucks for a multiplayer DLC
They could make a good boost in profits off that lol
I don't think they're allowed to
No I mean the devs, not the modders
Well the devs said they won't add multiplayer
Their loss 📉
It'd attract new players and give them extra profit if they made it a paid DLC.
And it probably wouldn't take very long if they buy the progress the modder made, then put their entire team into finishing it
Mhm
If I were the one making the choice, I'd take the profit over nothing
The point of a company is to grow with profits.
If they're not taking the quality opportunities, how will they get very far in the long run?
Kinda wish one of the devs were to see this and realize the potential-
Subnautica is understandable bc it's old. Not worth it
But BZ has room for improvement until they announce a possible 3rd game
3rd game or multiplayer sounds amazing either way
Hi chat
Why not both, and more? Combine game 1&2's maps with a new area, spread a large story throughout it all, include all habitat parts, vehicles, and resources, AND have multiplayer/coop (But for the sake of profit, no dedicated servers [someone has to host])
That'd be absolutely epic
Hearing my friends scream over a shadow again sounds fun
Smgksnlmg these things are huge
But why does it kick you off the snowfox when they breach?
That's literally the OPPOSITE of what you should do if something that big is trying to attack you
Idk
are you talking about || the ice worm kicking robin off the snow fox||?
All I know is you should be VERY careful exploring the arctic spires
Yeah. Why does it do that?
No matter how far away I am from the breach it happens
But the ore out here would be totally worth the risk. There's so much...
YOOOO what's that creatures name in the crystal biome ??
The one with the Cyan mouth
The leviathan?
Yes but what leviathan
||shadow leviathan||
He is so cool but so annoying
That's the ||shadow leviathan||
I found ||kyanite|| there in 500+ depth
I know now why people say this game is easier
So thats where it is
Bro just SAYING the word leviathan spikes the nerves
Very dangerous biome tho
Easier? You've got to be joking
Bruh i get nervous around the shrimp
Not at all, subnautica was harder than this game
Bruh subnautica was ez for me
Same
Not even reapers were a threat
Im not going to talk about that
Lmao
Getting stuff is easier in BZ
Its the only leviathan that actually really scares me
I had my worst experience with the lava larvae tbh
Definitely
They were SO annoying
Or the dunes
Ok, the dunes scared me at first
But I needed silver
So I braved it with my prawn and it wasn't so bad, because they're spread out
I went to the dunes back in the day for the cuddle fish egg, totally worth it
I went over the edge on accident in my prawn suit
Big fat F
Mushroom forest or lost river cashe
No reapers
Lost river cache was the easiest imo. You gotta go down there anyways at some point
The ghost leviathans were annoying, but the stasis rifle fixed that problem quickly
I never made it
Ok, but like
Is it in bz?
If reapers and ghost leviathans were in this game?
Id cry
I'd actually consider it hard
The stasis rifle made everything so easy
From gathering food and water to fending off leviathans
Or just shooting it for fun
But because it's not in BZ, those creatures would be a threat
I actually killed a reaper with the stasis rifle and a knife lol
Took a while, but I did it
Why the shrimp
They act the same way as the ghosts in G1
Wait these ones glow and they are white
There will be 3 if you remain for too long
I left as soon as i got the message
Potato
Help
Where do you normally find Nickel??
I found Kyanite before nickel HOW does that make any sense
@lean notch
hey guys
Sup
is there an autosave feature in below zero?
I don't think so
No, gotta save yourself
There's nickel in the crystal caves too
because i spent 4 hours working, i built a massive base, scanned the entire of phi robotics centre, met mareguit twice, and got every module for the seatruck and then closed the game without saving
bro, I don't wanna go there ever again
Where is the normal spawn for Nickel
shadow leviathan flashbacks
Alternative is deep lillypads caves
I'd be more scared of the fabricator caves
He cornered me for 10 mins
The place where body cache is
Im more scared of reapers i think but i haven't seen the shadow yet
Where body cache is
The one you get a signal for
The shadow leviathan is very smart, I was Hiding behind some crystals and he turned around to attack me
The place with the giant cotton stuff?
Yes
I have the body and the tissue... where's the last piece?
I only have the skeleton, lucky you
The skeleton is the easy one. No leviathans to deal with
The tissue was not fun. Leviathans everywhere
Dont say where it is pls
Not gonna
I wanna find it myself
I actually happened across it as I was exploring a place i hadn't been
I mean, I knew it was somewhwre around there, but not exactly where
I found the parallel processing units myself and I was satisfied
Anyways
that's not fun
Where is the tissue?
I always mix them up
Don't spoil
I know all the places
Don't click the spoiler bar lol
Just put a scanner room is deep lillypads

||in the ice spires||
He meant to find nickel lol. The scanner room is handy for that
Ah well the organs are in the ||crystal caves cache||
Oh yay
Ah well nice tip
So uh
Its so hard not clicking on those bars
How do you put up the spoiler bar?
Lol
Are there 2 places like that? One with red and one with purple?
You spoiled it
