Honestly the earliest place that you go thats good for rubies is the Deep Lilypad Caves. You go there for one of ||ALANs body parts||. Its not super dangerous (a few squidsharks and some things in the ground that grab you).

Does anyone know why there are so few plants you can grow in Below Zero as opposed to the base Subnautica? Half the seeds in the game are old Subnautica seeds, and most of the new plants you can grow are "exploitable" as opposed to simply decoration. First Subnautica game, you could grow just about everything! Not to mention, you can no longer acquire seeds of some plants that were in the first game and have migrated to this game! You can't scan these ones, either. This is very sad for me, as recreating biomes in alien containment and growing gardens in the water were one of my favorite activities in the original Subnautica. (I am playing on my computer, so related: has anyone made a mod yet that expands the seed selection in Below Zero to more plants?)

Real answer though, ||in the purple vents area there’s a large hole, goes straight down. There’s a fossil excavator, turn away from it and look for a massive purple vent. Go past it, and then go down into the deeper caves. Bring a repair tool. :3 ||

Story isn’t bad, it’s just…the parts we have are good it’s just I wish there was more. It doesn’t feel quite fleshed out.

I think Below Zero has subjectively better creatures, better biomes, better soundtrack, better map, better lore, better gameplay and better performance, but Subnautica has a better story, and this unique feelings of loneliness, wonder and sheer terror

Overall I liked BZ more but thats only because of my personal preferences and both games have something unique to offer

So, thinking about it, I feel like I have to make a vehicle-less run down deep, at least past a certain point. I don't believe they've fixed the leviathans going after unmanned vehicles yet.

And I don't want a repeat of my first run, where I go inside, and come back to an eaten prawn suit.

I like how the environment of BZ feels more full. Subnautica was big, but it had a lot of empty, unused space. BZ you find things left and right. But there’s a silence in Subnautica that is haunting, and a silence in BZ that’s comforting.

Then there’s the seatruck with its storage modules dividing their space between 5 different lockers with names that take up the majority of the face of it so you open the renaming menu instead of the storage half the time

A compliment from both games is how disincentivized you are from killing things. No material rewards, and they respawn fairly soon. I enjoy the pacifism, and the focus on preserving the worlds you find and the creatures you encounter. Alterra from that perspective is an excellent (if underutilized) villain. A space dystopia so bad that crashing on an alien planet with huge monsters feels like a reprieve! Id go full Captain Planet for a glow whale in danger

But anyways, I don’t think cramming every biome space together necessarily makes the game better, it makes for lesser impact when you do find cool or important things, and it also discourages building more than one or two bases

I honestly wanted a bigger map, i beat the game so quickly and was disappointed, i hope a DLC will be added

The only biome that really felt like one of the old ones was the Lilly pad biome

I went and ||extended the bridge kinda near phi robotics landing pad, and ALAN mentions something important to Alterra, more important to him|| and mentions a direction I didnt catch. what am I looking for? I've ran around found Ice worms thumpers and am lost as can be while in an arctic version of Tremors without Kevin Bacon

I guess it's fast but the PRAWN Suit can drill stuff that you might find along the way and takes less damage
