When you die in survival, the only thing that happens is you're placed in the last 'base' you were in, incl a seatruck with modules attached..and you drop all but 1 of any items that you've added to your inventory since you left that 'base' ...you keep all scans and whatnot, and if you don't pick anything up, the only real consequence of dying is being relocated

No additional cost. Game should stop you from deconstructing if there are built structures, but i dont recall if they fixed making sure you remove scanner upgrades.

that's the only thing that won't give you stuff back

take the upgrades out first

They aren't aggressive at all if you hatch them

that way you don't have to kill them all, you can kill them all and replace them with less aggressive versions that leave your stuff alone for the most part
