No. You just need to get in the vicinity of an artifact. Or get enough data to get a body piece. Sometimes Al-An won’t give you a location but describe it so you have to explore for yourself

||in the first subnuatica it was stated ( im 90% sure) that apart from the map where we play on, the rest of the planets life had died due to the virus, hence the ecological dead zone around the whole map, only reason the area we played in was alive was the fishes like peepers carried the cure around the area (or at least a mild cure) and given they are the center of the food chain (peepers - reapers levi- dragon levis etc)

why is there so much bio diversity in life around in the north then?
Surely everything that wasn't land based or frozen would of died.

The dead zone was around before the Kharaa. It was just an ecological dead zone that nothing could live in except Ghosts and zombie Chelicerates with plankton. Peepers didn't have the cure, that's how we had the virus lol. There wasn't a cute until end game. the PDA said 95% of the planet was the dead zone. And when we left the planet we see the Arctic which means it was another piece of land that existed.

often building attachments don't seem to work but if you move about and try different angles then they do. To clearly see obstructions go to options and turn on the accessibility highlight option and the hit box of obstructions will show as you hit the object.

Didnt get it on sale did you. The selling point of this game is that the environment is totally different and there are more challenges. Its easily a 30-40 hour game for new players. And for veterans, it has amazing sandbox potential for building and exploring all the details of each biome.

Personally i dont use the grapple down there except to flee. Best place for combat? Against the wall or one of those ravines. If you get it to push against a wall there when it runs from you, you can stand on its head and just go to town with the brain surgery

"Why not set beacons at those places?" Because the they aren't as helpful in maze-like areas, since the beacons don't tell you HOW to get there.
