Probably just as good as the original, if not a little worse
On the one hand, I love the new creatures, most of the new biomes, the new mechanics like weather and surface temperature, more on-land exploration and especially the new base parts
On the other, I generally have a strong distaste for snowy environments, and there are some fairly notable steps back like cutting the Seamoth and Cyclops for the Seatruck (which isn't bad mind you, but just can't replace what was lost in favor of it), as well as a few minor nitpicks like some creatures brought back from the first game having exactly the same databank entries, when they could've maybe explained how these familiar creatures survived in a radically different environment
