you have to change your sea truck in the moon pool so it is a different color from the other compartments and instantly connect when you release from moonpool and when you stop driving you can swim around in you compartments

Finally sat down to play Below Zero now that it's close to being out of testing. Subnautica before was loads of fun, I dumped more time in that game day in and day out then I ever did in most of my games.

Yeah, I realise I miss the cyclops. I never realised how much that thing really added to not just the atmosphere of the game but also your strategy. The cyclops was an unwieldy monstrosity whose goal was rather simple: It could be used as a mobile base and offered utility.
What it couldn't do, you had to seek out other alternatives like the SeaMoth or the Prawn such as when you needed to reach extreme depths or had to quickly scout an area around it. It was the epicentre of whatever mission you set yourself out on. It was a workhorse and a platform to be used for exploration, transport of materials, and a safe harbour.
But it couldn't do everything. It created pressure on you to need more bases in Subnautica's original map. It guzzled fuel. It needed upgrades. And all the while it felt like an investment you had to maintain to keep it going so you wouldn't die.
I want to like the Seatruck, I really do. But as I'm coming to find, what made so much of Subnautica to me, what forced me to endure the environment and problem solve, was the cyclops. The seatruck by comparison is just uninteresting. Visually it's nothing special, and for visibility it's atrocious for something to be used in an environment that requires exploration.
It's also very lethargic and cumbersome. There's a trade-off for adding modules for storage or whatever else, but I don't think this actually adds to the seatruck or the game but detracts from it more. And that's the problem I'm having with it. It's pulling me out of the immersion I want in the game, and I'm somewhat disappointed and letdown. Mostly because there's no alternative. I'm using the SeaGlide more to get around and trying to avoid the truck as much as possible.

you need to scan a water filtration system to get it for your base and I usually like to have a separate multipurpose room to grow marblemelons, potatoes, lantern fruit, preston's plant, shrub nuts, and fevered peppers (which I think is all the edible plants anyway lol) the melons, potatoes, and preston's plants each get their own full growbeds while the lantern tree, shrub nut bush, and fevered pepper bush/tree just get small plant pots in the corners
but that's just how I grow my food you can do whatever you like

Yeah. I'm going to look at a few mods, or see if I can add the cyclops into the game. Otherwise, I may just uninstall it and go back to Subnautica. :/ Seems silly to quit a game because I can't like the truck, but it's integral to the gameplay and is just that bad to me.

if you look at (a stupid game example sorry) Runescape 3 and Oldschool Runescape, OSRS is a 2007 remake (sort of) of RS3 from a backup. but it just became sooo different in its own way, you cant compare it anymore with the newer game

fun fact: you can leave your truck just above the 300m line then swim the rest of the way there or perhaps even use your seaglide

What i learned from BZ is that this game really encourages you to go deeper then your seatruck can go by going out of it and swimming the way.

twisty bridges goes down to about 400 but you can find gel sacks at about 320 just above the caves
there are diamonds in the caves though but also 2 squidsharks

in the lilypad caves theres no enemies and a bunch of sea monkey nests with good frags
just dont go exploring too far down or u might run into crystal caves with a shadow levi
