My personal headcanon for deep twisty bridges: Squidsharks were put there by Alterra to terminate Fred and make it look like am
accident. It failed. And, since the squidsharks were in a new biome without anything stopping them from eating the fauna there, they eventually ate a majority of the fauna and thats why it seems pretty lonely and desolate

And yeah sure there are also people that use it to actually 'cheat', but then you ruin it for your self and not for others. Thus making it your own choice.

You find her in her greenhouse, you have the cinematic there, and afterwards she goes in her base again.

At this moment you can go anywhere in her base.

The PDA even calculates a depth for you once you get into the Twisty Bridges. And if you scan an artifact, you get a darn beacon.
