Could literally just be the scanner, multi purpose, and observation rooms... Require them to have a dock connector between them and a base and then back up and "hook" the sea truck. Now that would be useful!!! Could even make it so the room was inaccessible while being moved

Well again, whatever the technical reason, it's a downgrade that shouldn't happen in a sequel. The vehicles in SN were fun to use, and changing that for the worse is a bad thing. But yea, the map is BZ is very cramped compared to SN, so taht's another criticism.

Some of the technological limitations are too arbitrary. Like the HUD chip for the scanner room which sends a signal to your HUD to display things. It should also allow you to remotely change what material to scan for. Or the mineral scanner being a hand tool instead of a vehicle attachment.
Cuz if you can make a passive scanner so small that you can hold in your hand and it doesn't require any activation or aiming, it should be no problem to attach it to any vehicle.

So the mineral scanner is different from all other hand tools, in that it doesn't require any user involvement. You just pull it out, and it scans. No need to aim or activate, nothing. It's a passive tool.
As such, it makes sense that it should be attachable in a vehicle.
Basically it's a mini alternative to the scanner room. But for whatever reason, the devs skipped the vehicle atachment and just made it for the hand, which forces you to unequip the seaglide to use it.
That's really annoying.
