I remember when I first went to the ship, went through the kelp forest and saw the thrusters and then heard the roaring, then I saw it coming at me at the last second. It grabbed me and I screamed really loud

I think I turned off the game at that point and hid in my room haha

Anyways, yeah some below zero's environments don't feel as lived in as well, like I think the floating lilypads, deep lilypads (the area with the spore mushrooms) and the sea monkey caves are great and show a lot of life and biodiversity but a majority of the basin, the ice chunks, the crystal caves they all feel so lifeless and boring to traverse

I think thermal knife ||does a lot more damage, but you risk taking damage. You do take 2 hits to die from them though. They are not insta kill like the others, if you're not positioned in front of them||

It collides in the grid system. A MP room is a 3x3 and the dock is 7x3 in the grid. Your T compartment is 1x1.

Build a I compartment first and you'll place it.

You’d also expect Alan would likely want the kharra bacterium destroyed due to the fact it (seemingly) wiped out their entire race and caused countless suffering.||

Because the very fact that the cure is hidden and the Frozen Leviathan is hidden too technically prevents Alterra from using it as she intended.||

The original goal was to find what happened to Sam, fly to the planet, and then leave safely. But Robin didn't know she'd hit a meteorite and crash. And in an environment where you have literally nothing, your goals (at least for a normal person) obviously change. Because no matter what she was thinking about before the crash, her only goal will ultimately be survival AFTER the crash.||

||Before you leave by entering the portal, Al-An will mention to you that if you have anything important you need to do, you should do it now. This is the perfect time for Robin to go “oh yeah my sister. I need to find out what happened to her before I can leave”||

Good timeline: ||A) Robin doesn’t crash land, she explores around, finds out what happens to Sam, gets out of there||
Our timeline: ||B) Robin crash lands there, she explores around finds an alien, alien says “I have a way off the planet now, is there anything you needed to do before we leave? We have near infinite time”. Robin would go “oh yeah, I need to find what happened to my sister||

The B option could’ve been solved by just having ||Al-An go “I am detecting a large presence of kharaa bacterium still alive on the planet, Robin, I need you to destroy it once and for all. My race couldn’t handle it properly, we can’t trust yours to take care of it either||

The game was anything but boring to me. I loved the aspect of getting the answers to questions left over from the first game, some questions I didn't realize I was looking for answers to.

If the game is boring then juice it up with mods. Subnautica especially, and BZ both have mods to help adjust/enhance game play. If the game is still boring then maybe its time to just move on.

Also there is co-op play. Find a friend, try it that way.

BZ is smaller in scale, true, a sea truck without modules attached is the same as a seamoth., the Prawn Suit is identical. Subnautica did not tell you where anything was located, neither does BZ. The weather adds a bit of realism to the game especially considering the artic location. The additional Lore you receive is truly worth the game.

@abstract wing Disclaimer: this was my personal solution to "want lore but can't find things", and it partially stems from my preferences. But if this sounds interesting, give it a try :D
||I present you a concept of Cheater's Map!
I can't really use coordinate system(weird keyboard settings) and fairly bad at navigation. And I do like finding stuff. But it is not interesting to look up every single thing online. There need to be a happy medium.
So I came up with a method (when it still was SN1), which I used in BZ

I have found blank terrain map, edited it to be really pale (so I can draw on top) and printed it.
Then, I went on SN wiki, open interactive map and just by visual, without opening each individual one, marked on my map locations of all Points of Interest (for SN BZ it were alien artifacts only).
Then I closed wiki, and have not opened it again. As a bonus, I got to decorate my paper map to my liking, and that is something I enjoy doing

As a result, I had map detailed enough to try navigate by landmarks and terrain, but at the same time vague enough to still have some challenge to it||

Most areas in subnautica aren't 100% safe,|| if you see red plants or purple trees, that area is likely just snow stalkers, if you see a large expanses of white with spires, it's more dangerous ||

I found the protag very unlikable. ||she constantly says stupid insensitive things to Al-An||, for one, which I wouldn’t do. Not to mention ||that she seems really pretentious. She’s a zoologist or something any tries to imply that she’s the same level of scientist as him multiple times, the guy in charge of the civilization-saving cure project???||

But the story is fairly good, ||rounds off bits from the first game, which I enjoyed||, and the mechanics are mostly an improvement over the first

First time playing Below Zero, why is the Squidshark considered a leviathan when it is as common as a Cryptosuchus?

Being common or not doesn't mean anything whether a creature is leviathan or not. Leviathan is simply a size category.

That's kind of a mistake.
Originally, the squidshark was a leviathan, yes, and they made the databank say that in all languages, but they changed it after that. It was too expensive to change that small thing across all languages, so they left it in.

You can do this with a Sea Dragon Leviathan.

Edit: Okay it is a leviathan taking a closer look at it but even then just because it isn’t gigantically huge doesn’t mean they’ve lost all perspective. It’s their creature, their design. It’s purposeful for a reason

I told you already. It's because the custom mode removed the survival, creative commands and instead you have to move your current game into a custom mode.
