Because it's so story driven, it doesn't offer much replay value and the modding community is 2 steps away from non-existant. So I would normally just muck around with commands and find better spots to build my base. Including a "zoo" of sorts (using commands) fully aware and accepted my save file can break.

I'm lowkey disappointed in the resource distribution in the game tho. The early resources are way too easy to gather and then the more rare resources like magnetite and nickel i barely even noticed, and had to get a magnifying glass to look for them.

Nickel and kyanite are a pain

Magnetite is terribly distributed. If you find the right iceberg, you’ll get enough magnetite/gold/diamond to last the entire game

Titanium, copper, silver, gold, diamonds and rubies are all very easy to find.

Kyanite at least is visible, so no complaints there.

But magnetite and nickel are SO HARD TO SPOT!!!!!!

And i love the music in the game. I can only dream of being able to make songs that at the same time sound fire af AND build the world so magnificently

Yoo. If any1 here likes music, i've posted some in the art-room channel. It's inspired by Lily pads biome, and i can't hear it correctly anymore because i've sat making it for so long. I love the seatruck. I always thought the seamoth was so frail. Also I like a sub I can get out and walk around in. I feel like maybe a middle ground between the cyclops and the seatruck would have been better though.

Like the initial vehicle is the "seamoth" but it docks into "the mobile base" but it isn't as big as the cyclops.

Fair enough. The moth may felt more frail but it was very nimble. The truck felt slow and I was always getting stuck in some random crevice. But I always called it "Soul Train" when I have all the modules built.;

There is a convenient little handle to unlatch the tiny front module! I always used that for caves

Right. But even still. I found myself nearly always getting stuck. I ultimately just used it more of a diving bell than an actual vehicle when diving more than 300 meters.

Fair enough. I know most of the map by heart now. Not as extensive as the OG. So I'm more comfortable without it than my initial playthrough.

After hundreds of hours in both, I can honestly say I like below zero more. I play the first one when I want more of a horror feel, and the second when I want to relax. I like the environments on the second way more. Weirdly I like the seatruck more too. The surface environments are a fun break sometimes.

as someone who loves the first, i would recommend against spending your money on below zero

-> Couldn't place one from the second to the third large bedroom (or vice versa)
-> I could only enter the third through a hatch.
-> Can place a ladder from the third to the fourth.

Yep. I hated the Snow Fox controls. And since I really didn't have much of a use for the PRAWN in general, I booked it on foot as I typically do. I died more to the Snow Stalkers than pretty much anything else. And mainly because I kept getting twisted around (I'm directionally challenged in game and irl) that I stopped caring.

I want people to tell me what they liked about bz. I tried so hard to get into it, but it wasn’t the subnautica I was expecting, and linear, and that threw me off. I wanted to build a base in a central location instead of towing it around with me. So I want after a long while to give it another try; could people help me recontextualize it? How can I look at this game in a way that will help me get invested?

as someone who likes linear games, I enjoyed the smaller and linear world of below zero more. The world's size made it easily memoizable, and the maps made finding POIs really easy.
I went in having the story spoiled, but I did most of the exploring myself.
I treated it like extra subnautica dlc
and I am very biased towards the vehicles

Nothing is prompting when I go to this artifact, it's the second of the two ground samplers, and I've scanned both. I got the Al-An voiceline at the first, as well as at all other artifacts. I'm not sure whether this is intended, but it seems i cant progress the story while this is going on.

I finished the game literally just then, and I feel like it was relatively enjoyable, but the story is much worse than the first game, the world is less enjoyable, the vehicles are worse, and the caves on the land are tedious and confusing. I really didn't like how getting the antidote was a side thing, had to go out of my way at the end for the 100%.

That would be 1 km east from the radio tower. If you still have delta dock beacon in place, it's little further, something like 1300m and a bit south and not directly east
