The reaper is louder, there’s more of them, the biomes they’re in typically restrict visual ability and when they grab you they move you away from your original position

The Chelicerates main benefit is that it sort of blends in with how passive it is sometimes.

So you could be in a biome that you think is safe then get grabbed by one

Just did the same thing, enjoyed below zero just as much (I knew most of the plot of the og, as well as biomes and creatures so it was a little less interesting). If I were you, only google something if you've put a dedicated 20+ mins into looking for it and don't watch yt on the game until you've finished story

Spoilers for the ending ig || I understand if you didn't enjoy it, that's okay, but that doesn't mean it's completely bad. The story is a lot deeper than the one in the previous game, it explores the gray morality of both sides. I think the weakest part of the story is Maida, which happens to be the only part people seem to enjoy (I wonder why...). The insights into how the Aliens worked, and how Alterra is structured are really nice. And the ending was the best thing they could've done. I get it, not everyone likes open endings, but I personally do, as do many others. They allow for some really fun fanfics,,,, but andyways, the open ending was the best thing they could've done. If the Aliens were alive, the story of SN1 was pointless, Al-An's mistake was pointless. If they were dead, then it's already too late, nothing's worth it anymore. This would divide the community a lot, so this way they theoretically can make everyone happy.||

However, you can't make everyone happy - if they fully gave in and made BZ just like SN1, people would complain it's a copy. But because they didn't, people complain that it's different. "Humanity clings to suffering, because it is familiar".

You were either influenced by someone who didn't dislike the story (bad reviews cloud the reader's judgement) or you missed something. Sam was definitely important, she shows how fear and biases can lead to blind wrath and destruction. Al-An doesn't care about the infection because it was cured 2 years ago. Maida is in the planet for 12 years, her existence is a plot hole. I don't think the story is at all unnecessary, though I know it's a common sentiment for gameplay-focused players to dislike it when the story gets the spotlight. Several people think God of War's story is unnecessarily long and breaks the flow of the gameplay. I get it, Mimir has more voicelines than the game has in content, the cutscenes are long, but that's not really a problem of the story. GoW is one of the best written games out there. It's just that people prefer different things. People back in PSP times were a bit upset that we barely learn about the character, because the games were so gameplay focused they only fit a bit of story. Now, they're story-focused, so a different audience is upset. The way BZ and SN were made, it's clear they have different target audiences.

I'm glad that lately, some YouTubers that participated in the BZ trash-talk parroting have given the game another try, and are actually enjoying it. It's surprising for sure.
