You are meant to repair the bridge, considering there is an achievement for doing so (for all platforms that support achievements/trophies). Similarly you’re meant to build the snowfox. You don’t have to use it however🤷‍♀️

It’s not like Subnautica where you need the drill to finish the game

I worded that a bit strange, what I meant was prawn in general to finish the game (because most will use prawn with drill and grapple combo to finish Subnautica). It is also true you don’t need the prawn at all but again we’d be getting into extremely rare play territory, not what majority of players do (we both know that).

So while you are correct, for all intents and purposes, what I said will hold true for probably 95% of players if I had to guess, if not more. Only certain speedrunners will do vehicle-less runs, and I doubt many other players abandon their prawn just to go forth into the interior of the ||lava castle|| to get individual pieces of kyanite when they could easily drill for it (or risk not having their prawn at all and seaglide across that distance unprotected). So sometimes it’s just not worth listing these rare exceptions imo unless someone is making a big deal about absolutes. It’s ok to speak in generalities.

You can pretty much build wherever you want, or wherever you find convenient
Early on I build right near the shark cage thing, just to get a starter base going, but not be right next to the starting pod. It’s still fairly convenient. Later on there’s all sorts of options.

For diamonds there’s a few early locations, but you’ll need to explore.
Places like the Koppa mine which is I believe southwest of Delta, or deep Twisty Bridges

prior to the bug i hadn't rebound the keys, but i did try to reassign keys to see if that would help. it didn't. i'm on pc but no controller connected. if i start a new game or load up one of my old games i can interact with things. i use mods, but uninstalled them all and reloaded and the issue persisted.
