LOL Personally, I often will build a small structure right next to the drop pod so I can place some lockers inside, and also take advantage of the fabricator in the pod. Once I have a fair bit of stuff and have explored around, I'll make a new base elsewhere, then come back for what I had stored and move it.

You can pick up the snowfox and use it in any dry land area (no need to have hoverpad everywhere). Also you can use habitat builder and decraft the hoverpad and then rebuild it when you want to charge and repair snowfox (or change battery and use repair tool)

You use the thermos in coffee machine to fill it. Then you can drink it for + heat (and some water loss)

Nah I think it's the opposite, there are plenty of materials and resources in the BZ, since it's 4 or 5 times smaller than the original game, so resources spawn on a close range
