while I'm here is anybody else having trouble with the sea truck dock?
i can't put certain modules
docking module must be at the end always
some modules created before BZ release will not fit into the tunnel. You can test them by handlebar driving
just destroy, make new
proably storage and/or fab
what modules be those?
exactly these
nvm i typed slower
so you have unique modules! But they look the same
wait so new modules were introduced and old modules retired, but work and look exactly the same?
yes, problem?
no problem, just wondering why
I suppose only diff. is the collision box
woah woah waoh DOES THAT MEAN THEY'RE RARE?!
yes yes
Worth a fortune, in useless vogsphere currency
I put off playing BZ for a long time because of what I heard, but I have to admit it's not as bad as I thought
it's amazing imo
I love the northern-lights-esque thing
wanted to say aurora but that means stuff in the games
can't believe there's no hoverfish emoji in this server

< hoverfish

titan holefish are the derpy derps of the derps

i love subnautica
They are indeed adorable. They're quite an interesting creature in my opinion, considering that they don't really do anything.
You can get oxygen from the titan holefish
Thank you; I know that, but their behavior is less than complex.
They just kinda chill and float along xD
How do you feel about eye jellies?
creepy af
Me? They’re annoying
I'm glad they exist, but the bubbling sound gets very annoying when I'm in my Seatruck at the ||Phi Robotics|| dock.
There’s so many near the dock over by Phi, I ram them with the truck and kill most of them by it so they’ll leave me alone and I don’t have to look at them lol
And I rarely kill anything
Other than the lilypaddlers which I’m worried will trigger a migraine, when building in lilypads, but now with custom game options I just turn them off (YAY!)
And yes the bubbling sound bothers me, I’m very sensitive to sounds like that.
Another one that gets bothersome for me is the ghost rays in the ||cove tree area|| in Subnautica
How do I go there
i have a mental image of them swimming away squinting and screaming
I try not to kill anything, if possible. I save every few minutes and quit the game if I run into a feather fish or the like.
Eh, the jellies, it’s not like there’s not hundreds more of them so I don’t worry about it
I’m only clearing the small area around the dock
They respawn, too, I believe.
but seriously tho, don't you feel like poking them in the eye?
just to see if they have eyelids
I think the bell/domed transparent section is essentially the eyelid.
Does anyone know how to go there
I may be wrong, but I think that's the one in ||Koppa Mining Site||.
Thanks
There was some weird bug with the jellies I forget now what it was, and don’t have access anymore to the ticket software to see what it was, something about they damaged you when they weren’t supposed to. But it got fixed, best I recall
I'm not familiar with that bug, but I hadn't played Below Zero until this August.
I think that’s the mine as well. There’s two entrances. As you’re following the crevices along, see if you can spot some light sticks to point you in the right direction. One entrance is obvious with some partly open doors to the mine, the other is through a series of caves (but be careful of some seriously hot spewing vents)
A lot of things in this game use light sticks to point you towards important locations
Imagine if you could pick them all up in the way you can with beacons you find.
Ty
I almost burned myself alive
One of those vents gets up to triple digits
I've done the same, except the almost part doesn't always apply.
Soo is the entrance of the thing in the biome with the spiky rocks thingies with those ugly sharks
the legendary ||255c devil's anus||
also known as a collapsing neutron star inside of an Einstein-Rosen bridge
Yes, that's it. Like Sh4dow Ech0 said, you can go through either the doors, or the tunnels. Either way, it's entered through the Thermal Spires.
The cryptosuchus, and yes in thermal spires that’s surrounding delta island. Koppa is southwest of the island (you should’ve been to the island and scanned a map of the facilities hanging on the wall of one of the quarters there)
While not the exact copy of the map in game, this one is close enough
Koppa is the dark orange one, southwest of the island Delta (yellow, with the triangle)
Oooh cooll thanks
Np, like I said you get almost the exact same map at Delta
actually, why is it koppa and not kappa, as well as zero and not zeta? everything else is according to the greek alphabet
Yeah I should have the map somewhere in my ipad thingy
Koppa is part of the Greek alphabet it’s just not used in modern Greek is what I read about it. I’ve no idea about the zeta vs zero thing, maybe with the game name idk tbh
Why go with Greek nomenclature at all tbh
If you’re doing that I would’ve stuck with Alpha, Beta, Delta and Kappa, ones people have most used in schooling, Phi isn’t that commonly used and as mentioned Koppa isn’t used in modern Greek at all afaik
you'd think alterra would be somewhat consistent in their naming
Actually it would be alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon (if going in order) but still, that’s better than using Koppa and Phi I think
Still, I’m guessing not a lot of folks have seen Greek letters in use unless they’ve done higher maths, physics, or such
i didn't know they were greek until i googled
phil robotics
Unhhhhfhejwjidowo do I need to look for light thingies
ong
who's phil
There's an entrance to the tunnel system just below ||Delta Station Dock||. Keep following it down; you're on the right track if you find oxygen plants.
tbh it always gives me anxiety trying to get to koppa via the hot springs route, cos i can never remember the way 😂
I always go through the doorways. But if you do try to force the truck cabin through, be sure to save first, since it’s not really meant to go in that way, just in case it were to get stuck😬 And don’t try to take anything but the cabin through is my recommendation if you try it
I found an artifact I wasn't even looking for, i didn't even have it pinged
Well, good I guess but i still can't find the other one 😭
Wait..is it..that location with the slightly open doors and that big deep hole?
Yes, that's definitely it.
I saved before this occurred, but I did get stuck in it once.
I went there some time ago for some other reason i forgot..I didn't think there was anything more to get i didn't know there was an artifact
But anyway, I still forgot the location
Can i force the truck trough the doors of the mining site?
nope
I just finished subnautica below zeroo!! omg am so happyy
You need to slide it sideways to get through, and only the cabin fits.
I'm making my big base in the lilypad islands
Just the truck, no modules. Go through sideways, and wiggle it a lot. Often not worth the effort.
What part of the biome are you building in? There are several different unique areas for a base (i.e. the seabed, the lilypad tops, the islands themselves...)
Its mostly on a lilypad
But you enter via a t compartment
In the water
Its not complete, I just deconstructed my old base so I'm still building and moving in
Well, I hope it turns out well. Is it really supposed to be as hard to get up on the lilypads as it is?
The most reliable method, I've found, is to climb onto one of the small satellite lilypads and walk along the stem; if you're at the surface and using the Seaglide, it's also possible, though difficult.
Guys
The sattelite that you see when you start a new save, is that the same one as the crashed one on the || iceberg || ?
Actually, the satellite in orbit is the Vesper, a remnant from the old story. (I think this is true.)
What is the vesper. Was it visible in subnautica?
The Vesper was a satellite from Alterra where your ||not so dead|| sister used to be.
And the crashed sattelite is just an alien artefact?
Yes.
So there was a different story?
It's green and stuff.
Thats cool. Idk if its possible to see the vesper in the sky
When it was an important part of the story you could see it.
Ok
How would the alien sattelite have crashed? It looks like it crashed into the iceberg
Perhaps it simply exceeded its operative lifetime. There are also large meteor storms on this part of the planet.
when I stop piloting the sea truck, sometimes I unboard entirely and other times I just stop piloting. is there an input for each?
If you have modules, it depends on your angle.
That seems logical
yes, I have modules. I always press E
If you seatruck is at an flat-ish angle you will just stand up, if its a steep-ish angle you exit automaticalyy
It's been over 1 000 years since everyone died
Fish game but ice isnscary
I havent played below zero in months. Im gonna do a new playthrough soon so my knowledge is not the best. I wanna do a run where im only living in my seatruck
Oh, this info is not from Below Zero
thank you
Are you allowed to have growbeds?
Oh
Btw is it possible to build small things in seetruk
But like smoll plants and pots? Or a locker?
Why does this game hate lead?
dying in my base or sea truck is completely harmless, right?
I’ve got lockers of the stuff I haven’t used yet…
Survival of the fittest, baby.
Made plenty of enameled glass and lots of seatruck modules already. Not sure what I’ll do with the excess yet.
Feed it to the trash can?

Didn’t one of you to that?
I don’t believe in the trash can. I have enough problems with materials sinking into the planet’s core…
But it's the trash can!
Can you put the trash can in another trash can?
You can put the materials to make a trash can into a trash can.
That's close enough.
Nope. I want to see a trash can in my trash can. I want to back into it with my Seatruck and dent it a bit, give it that lived in look. I want to put keep calm kitty stickers on the side to give it that personalized touch.

I'm going to get the MK 3 Seatruck depth upgrade.
No more freediving, it seems
Should I not build it? I still like freediving for the sake of agility and not having to worry about hitting/killing fish.
I'm just playing, please do craft it
You can take your aquarium module to deeper areas
I thought you might be, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be funner to go without it. I don't have an aquarium module, because I like having a faster and less unwieldy Seatruck, but perhaps I should make it.
I don't really like permanently capturing wild animals or releasing them in different biomes, so it's problematic, but it would be a fantastic mobile creature observatory will all of that glass.
I don't know how does the aquarium module work, exactly
I don't know if actual fish from the biome get inside or if it spawns new ones
You can put your own fish there, though, to stop them from stealing wild fish. Fill it up with baby seamonkeys
That's a good question, actually. I assume you've built it. I know that it can capture penglings, so it might capture fish from the environment.
I suppose one could drop a fish near a powered one and see what happens to it. I like the idea of filling it up with my own creatures. I've never placed a sea monkey or pengling inside an aquarium, though some of the latter have gotten captured in a past game.
What fish do you have in yours, and which do you think look best?
I currently have 1 singular peeper
I like triops (in general and specifically in aquariums) and have four in captivity. Three are in aquariums, two of which live together, and one's in my ACU.
They taste bad
I’ve only built it once, my assumption was that it would grab passing fish somehow like the grav ball does, but I never watched it from the outside to see. That would be a fun experiment to try.
I would never eat one! Based purely on the taste description, I would enjoy eating a cured spinner fish.
I think I will try it and share my results. I've always thought that it transferred fish inside rather than spawning new ones, but I could very well be wrong.
Wiki claims it captures fish that get too close. I’d get a bunch of fish and then release them around the module from the outside and watch what happens.
That seems like a simple but effective plan. I will do so when I get a chance.
I’m traveling tomorrow and will have some time to kill at the airport. Will be good to compare notes.
In #off-topic , where are you traveling?
Since I’m playing Below Zero, it’s still on topic. LoL. Traveling from Austin to New Orleans, then getting on a cruise ship for two weeks. Nothing more fun than playing Subnautica while on the ocean…
I wonder why noot fish can't be placed in aquariums. They don't seem larger than a pengling, and it's not because they're carnivores (symbiotes can fit).
I’m not sure about aquariums, but you can put them in the alien containments?
In inventory they’re only a 1x1 slot.
An alien containment unit can definitely accommodate them, but they can't be placed in an aquarium.
Very curious… guessing they overlooked that at some point when programming what could transfer and what couldn’t.
I would love to be able to put rockgrubs in, but that doesn't work either.
They would have looked cool there. Probably worth a bug report just in case we see an update down the road.
I've always thought it was intentional; can rockgrubs be placed in aquariums in Subnautica?
In other aquarium/ACU-related issues, I've had issues with symbiotes wriggling out of my hand as I take them out of containment and swimming around in my base walls.
Not sure on that, I don’t build aquariums often. You know my huge bases, that’s mostly alien containments on the inside. 😎
What better use could there be for such a large space? While I would pick an alien containment over an aquarium, I like having aquariums as options as well. I've got one in my bedroom in my Twisty Bridges base.
Totally agree.
I still like having fish that can fit inside an aquarium in the larger tank, though.
Hmm Chelicerate I Must Kill
He just wants hugs…
anyone know of a source of lead ive been all over this frozen hell scape and cant find any deposit or not
No drillable lead available
best spot then?
Can anyone tell me if those things are dangerous?
Yep its fine
Oh okay ty
WAIT
Since when can u merge sea trucks?
What do i need to merge them?
you can connect modules behind your truck
Oh
Do i need to find the blueprint for the module thing?
there are fragments for each type of module in various places
Cold fish alien game but scary
Use a scanner room.
But scan for galena outcrops and not lead (probably won't even have lead as an option)
Most lead can be found in: Twisty bridges, Thermal spires and thermal spires underground vulcanos and cave systems under delta island. Also a lot is on the underside of the floating lilypad rocks. Then further down in ||crystal cavern|| but a bit tricky to collect because... reasons. But there is also a good amount in the arctic shallows. But using either the handheld mineral detector or a scanner room significantly improves the chances of finding them. Also when going for a gathering run, using the resource highlight option in the menu helps to located resources, especially the galena outcrop is notoriously "invisible" because it blends in soooo well.
this may be beyond the scope of the channel, but any ideas on how to draw a map of my own of the game?
without using anything that's not in-game. At the moment I'm measuring the distance of the borders from my drop pod
Not sure if it's possible to draw accurate maps without some programs. You can use the Delta Island map, but that won't help with caves/underwater biomes
I'm ok if it's not that accurate. I just want to know where the major areas are.
You can use the Delta Island map as a base
It's accurate and the island is almost in the middle of the map
Dude
I touched some algae thing and then I died
it didn't even tell me it could kill me
do yall also have it too that the ||thumper ||is sometimes just glued to your hand?
team Potato or team Augstrobite?
I'm on team Potato
(Auggie counts as Augstrobite)
team talk about BZ
I like Chinese Potatoes, but I don't know what's that other word
the cat
the name of the cat
to off topic you go then
isn't it Below Zero?
sam's cat
well no live cats
HE'S DEAD??
WHAT
sam's cat is neither alive nor dead
because we have no idea what happened or will happen
the wiki says he's alive so that's good enough for me
Samödinger's cat
Thank you
all we know that is that cat's not on 4546b
do we?
if it were, did you think that the devs wouldn't have coded some sort of interaction with it?
oh my god I need a cat in subnautica 3
wasn't Sam with Potato when she was living on 4546b?
subnautica x stray
diver kitty
there is no evidence of the spud being on 4546b
there's no evidence he wasn't
we aren't arguing logical fallacies here
all i know Potato is a better name than Auggie
do mods have permissions to add emojis?
I need a hoverfish emoji if there's space
Well, I think we should leave space for better future emotes
what if
potato actually a flerken
The guy said that he found a body part or sm but i didn't get anything pinged
Potato is a good name for cats.
Is there a reasoning behind the name Augstrobite/Augie?
Hang in there is better, sorry.
Can the prawn suit get through the doors of the koppa mining site
Yes, but it’s a tight fit and you need to wiggle sideways.
Cool thanks
Uhhh the Prawn easily fits in between the doors. It's the Seatruck that you need to worry about.
that sounds like the instructions for getting the truck in
You can get in, sideways, top of the door
No modules
The Mining Site is very Modulen't.
I usually had to wiggle my prawn. You can’t walk straight through?
im stealing that and making it right
where are my coordinates?
camera world pos. Never mind the decimals
ok. is this a good place for my base?
You are asking us to interpret coords
Um, Twisty Bridges Shallow?
Doubtful. Maybe the southern part where it's deeper and closer to world center. Make sure theres a lot of room to grow
the pod is very North
Yeah, I tried to go nearer to the deeper end
south end is fine, near delta
👍
It would appear that the Seatruck aquarium module does indeed remove fish from the environment to place them inside the tank.
that's cool.
two questions (please be as non-spoilery as possible); 1) does the truck become noticeably sluggish after installing the 3rd module? It's what I've noticed.
- Is there any point to building the moonpool once I get the seatruck dock? or is it just for the vehicle upgrade console?
I realised to do a run where i only live in my seatruck i need all the seatruck fragments...
1)The more modules you add, the slower it gets, you can alter it a bit by installing the horsepower upgrade.
2) Pretty much, the seatruck dock is for the seatruck with multiple modules imo
with the horsepower upgrade, you get full speed up to 3 modules
Does it stack?
I got of the || Snowfox || and now i cannot get on it gain neither can i enter a base or a || Seatruck ||
Well, since you get the two together, the moonpool is really more for the Prawn suit.
do you mean me
Did the fish just disappear from outside or was there some mechanism you observed? A beam or something?
No I mean the Seatruck Horsepower Upgrade description being "Seatruck horsepower upgrade"
ok
It gives 0 clarification on what it does
@sacred jungle @fervent bloom thanks for the answers!
The fish vanishes with a clicking noise. I believe the concept is that they are sucked in with a vacuum.
Very awful and mean and cruel
I'll fill it with 16 baby seamonkeys to prevent fish from getting kidnapped
Where ya sealing those babies from? Monster…
: (
I bred them myself, and released the adult monkeys that hatched from the eggs I stole
I like hatching them, marking the nest with a beacon, and releasing them. There's one nest with two adult sea monkeys that live near it, so I like to think of them as the parents.
But the seamonke babies are the cutest things ever
✨✨
They're faster than I thought they would be, and certainly adorable.
Isnt it the first animal that has a "Baby" stage
What do you mean? There are penglings and baby/juvenile snow stalkers.
Like i dont remember any other animal not looking like its 'Parent' when hatched
Eyejelly eggs look like babies
Small Snow stalkers just look like big snow stalkers but snall
Nothing special imo exept the interaction and how cute they are
oh I mean i guess they look pretty simillar then nvm
But my point is that baby sea monkeys dont look a lot like their big versions
The PDA does point out the baby sea monkeys are defenseless, unlike many baby creatures on 4546B.
Thats why they look so adorable in the aquarium
I like how there are three sea monkey scans that go together: the baby, the nest, and the adult.
baby sea monkeys are actually amazing
This is true!
slow, stupid and delicious
Didnt know the babies had a seperate scan
Unfortunately, there's no image to go with it, but it's still nice to have.
Ok
I've never put a sea monkey baby in an aquarium, unfortunately. I should at the next opportunity.
There are quite a few in various sea monkey nests. However, they're only in nests in the Arctic Kelp Caves; nests in the ||Lilypads Crevice|| never have them.
No, there are a limited number of eggs in the nests. However, if you get two, you can breed sea monkeys and thus get a theoretically infinite number.
The same can be done with any other creature that can be picked up or has eggs, other than ||trivalves||.
cool
I'm getting a real weird bug. I tried piloting the seatruck and everything is unresponsive. I can see the chair sloooooowly unfolding
I can't "unstuck" myself either
back to normal now
dammit, stuck again. I tried exiting the truck now I'm swimming in place inside the truck. Any idea what's causing this?
I do not, unfortunately. Can you try reloading the game?
I can quit, but I'd rather not lose what I've built
i got a problem like this too
how'd you fix it for the first time?
i got of the || snowfox || and now i cannot enter a building or my seatruck
So, you can't save your game?
I'm gonna try saving and reloading
oh yeah that happened to me
i didn´t fixed it
I just waited
it happened to me so i closed the game and opened it again
what's up with the blank wall in the fabricator module of the sea truck?
A window there would be nice.
"this wall is intentionally left blank"
i need help
with what
after i got of my || snowfox || i couldn´t enter bases
pc or console?
steam?
yes
for safety, make a copy of your game save, then save, quit, exit the game, launch again and load in
Which creature do you think has the best egg design compared to the adult?
Also, I got hypnotized by a lily paddler while I was ensnared by a spikey trap.
I like the pinnacardi egg very much and the lilypaddler one too.
Lilypaddler, the only way to get high in BZ
I like the pinnacarid egg as well; I enjoy how smooth it looks.
The eye jelly's egg is unique, if not difficult to identify without hatching it.
I don't quite understand the connection to drugs, but okay
I like how they spin around, they're very cute
I like the rock puncher egg as well; it blends into the terrain, which is more realistic than one that glows and/or has stripes.
Pengwing eggs are great
I originally thought brinewing eggs belonged to pengwings.
Guess we will list all the eggs in the end. Do trivalve eggs count also? They are adorable as eggs too.
I think so; I wouldn't mind if they were less obviously a special, adorable creature, but the eggs are very nice.
I don't like Bruteshark eggs, so boring...
I would love if they had some sort of exoskeleton like their heads do
hiii
They're too similar to pinnacarid eggs in my opinion.
I like that the squidshark egg somewhat resembles the egg cases of bullhead sharks...
I agree
Those bottom feeder eggs, such as bullheads, nurse, etc, are all very similar
Bullhead shark eggs have unique ridges, though.
I suppose it's a good example of convergent evolution, but I could be wrong.
scariest creature in your opinion?
IMO it's the ||squid shark||
just so ugly
it's scary
I consider the squidshark sleek, majestic, and intriguing. I would say that the ||ice worm|| is the scariest.
Many eggs in the wild will tend to camouflage into the environment as a survival trait.
That's a good strategy, and one that often is not exhibited on 4546B.
Well, it’s a game, so that’s the trade off. But in the real world it’s all about what predators are about that might want to eat the eggs. If those aren’t an issue, then eggs can be more colorful and unique.
Good point; I didn't mean to be critical of the game. I was just noticing that that was not one of the most realistic parts.
True enough. But overall the game does a great job at presenting a fairly realistic environment. Or at least what we might imagine as being realistic, for an alien world.
I would agree, especially in Below Zero.
I know we were talking about the noot fish yesterday; I was experimenting with console commands and spikey traps, and I learned two things. Firstly, spikey traps are horrifying. Secondly, they are capable of catching and eating noot fish, unlike most small fish.
I think it might be intentional that noot fish cannot fit in aquariums, since they have at least one other characteristic that is similar to those of larger creatures.
That they eat the smaller ones?
No, spikey traps can eat noot fish, but they don't bother most small fish.
I still think it might be an oversight. Another one is if you craft another antidote, I don’t think you can drop it, Al you can do is put it in a locker or the trash can. That was actually the only time I needed to make one, then I deconstructed it. LoL
Guess the small ones aren’t worth the bother.
I like the trash can as decoration, and it is useful sometimes.
Could have been interesting to have some spikey traps around the base.
Apparently spikey traps can eat pengwings, eye jellies, pinnacarids, arctic rays, brinewings, sea monkeys, and lily paddlers.
They do have an appetite…
feeding yourself in this game is quite a chore
I also find I'm much less "guided" than in the first game, which kind of makes things overwhelming
I always keep fevered peppers and shrub nuts in my base.
What point are you at in the game?
And hopefully preston plants
I have those in some growbeds on the surface, actually.
They should be next to the fevered peppers and the fabricator
I have like 3 or 4 alien markers on my beacon/radar
Do you find it harder to catch fish than in Subnautica?
I actually like the more open-format approach, but that's just my preference.
That’s a good start. But a number of the artifacts won’t get markers, and other later game things won’t have a marker either. Exploration is a big part of the gameplay.
Once you find the grav trap fragments fish are easy to catch.
Have any of you done a vegan playthrough? I'm enjoying it.
And once you start growing plants you do t have to worry about fish.
Once you get the spicy fruit salad, no fish needed anymore.
I haven’t tried the vegan mode yet, I’m sure it’s a challenge.
yeah, that's what I noticed. but I find the open-format more overwhelming and stressful. markers take some time to travel to and you still have no idea if they're reachable at the moment or not. you may even end up looking for the entrance or access beforehand, too.
No, you get anemone hearts and scrub nuts quite from the start, And there is always creep vine 🙂
actually I feel liek the fish are easier and slower to catch. it's just that the character gets hungry and thirsty so often. it's the reason why on my 2nd playthrough of the first game I turned hunger/thirst off. It feel more inconvenient and frustrating than anything else
Most of the markers will be in caves that need a sideways path to reach. You just need to get close the. Look around for a path.
The map on the seaglide can be a big help there.
true
It's not as difficult as in Subnautica, and even there it is possible. Frost anemone hearts are a great early-game food and water source, though they cannot be grown so they're less convenient once you're exploring further.
Definitely slower and easier at night, they are almost asleep
I get much of my food from fevered peppers, though if you need a lot quickly at your base, antennae fruit give you 20.
can old or rotten plants still be planted?
Yes
Luckily, they can be. That's how I got Chinese potatoes.
reminds me of something. I tried planting stuff, but I couldn't get a foundation high enough above sea. Ideas?
This is kind of why I like playing the game blind. I just found the chinese potatoes and it was a nice surprise : )
Ice floes can work well for that, depending on where you are. You can build directly on them, or you can put a foundation there.
The foundation generally needs to be able to reach the ocean floor, but if you can build a base piece then you can build other pieces, like a foundation, higher up as long as they are close enough to the other pieces.
And you can then deconstruct the lower pieces if you don’t need them.
I'm not sure, but I think I was able to build a foundation on some ice.
I'm just curious if I'm missing something, but I have yet to find magnetite at all. Is that normal?
It's not an easy thing to find; however, the ||Glacial Basin|| is full of magnetite veins.
The ||Deep Lilypads Cave|| also has some.
mmm, I'm not sure I want to click those. But it's normal not to find them so far right?
What's the deepest biome that you've been to, and have you done any land exploration?
Regardless, it's definitely not something that should be easy to find.
I'm very lost in this game, lol. For land, I did find the Phi Robotics Land pad. But I got so lost in that labyrinth that I left it. In terms of depth? I did find a very small volcanic biome. Near some underwater Phi Robotics base. (it was underground and the gates had hte Phi symbol)
In that case, you could be close to magnetite. Also, it sounds like you found the entrance to the ||Koppa Mining Site||.
Is that the one with the gates connected to rails and the rock punchers?
Reading the PDA helps a lot, I'd recommend it to avoid getting lost in the story and map
That would be the location.
Is it possible to pick up hatched squidsharks after release?
no
That's good to know... if I raise them, I'll wait for them to breed and lay two more eggs.
Is there any logic behind which creatures you can and cannot pick up? Brinewings are released forever, yet you can grab a brute shark or glow whale.
Yes, but no magnetite there.
There is almost no magnetite early in the game. I’m convinced that I found it once early on but never found it again since. And you only need to find one to make the scanner HUD, after that it’s easy to find more if it’s around.
(The person who made below zero music for those who don't know)
He’s my most listened to this year, and I didn’t even know his name…
Not my fault he didn’t have a PDA entry…
Will i survive the aurora?
Yes, as long as you don't go behind it.
I tried extinquishing fire that i wasnt supposed to touch and went from 80 health to 0 in 1 second
I got ||prawn and neptune rocket tho so||
Just lost my seamoth but just in case i took all my upgrades out of it
Smart
is it true that you can play custom songs in subnatica below zero
yeah now i can hear coconut song 24/7 before i go insane
That still makes me sadge. I wanna listen to gorrilaz on console in the game D:
cococococococo nut
Guys my game forgot to render in the water lol.
Explain please.
You either disabled the fog or you're walking on the ground.
In both cases, it isn't really what you said.
I logged back in, left the alien lair in the twisty bridges, got confused as to why I wasn't ascending, climbed out of my prawn suit and proceeded to fall to my death in the deep twisty bridges
And now I'm trying to climb out of the twisty bridges via hope and weird hops
Didn't you say you died?
I reloaded lol still no water
I see. Can you go back into the sanctuary?
I figured dying wasn't gonna fix the water so I reloaded
...I uh...fell into the deep twisty bridges so I'm gonna need a bit lmao
You could use the unstuck button but it won't save your Prawn Suit.
You'll swim though.
Does that work??
Exiting the Prawn Suit will bring you back to walking.
I assume it's why you react like that.
This makes me sad
You have to find a way to go back in the sanctuary with the prawn suit.
If I swim, and save then reload will that save it
The Prawn Suit has a specific state that makes it "on land".
You have two solutions. The first one is to enter the sanctuary again with it.
The second is, if your game is on PC, to give me your save file.
The second solution might be a tiny bit technical.
😭 I'm on xbox
I see.
If I were on pc I'd just use the cheat bar to move my prawnsuit back to base and go from there lol
No command to move a prawn suit.
Also, you can use commands on xbox.
You could spawn another one.
But if you manage to go back to the sanctuary with it, it will be fixed.
It might be possible with jet jump upgrade and grapple.
I'd have to go back to base to get the grapple
I armed myself for mining and shooting at naughty leviathans
Let's just say I wasn't expecting all my water to say c'est la vie, ya know?
The water is a lie.
The game gives you different motor mode state depending on your Y axis. There is no "water" per se.
So to be able to walk inside something that is below 0 in the Y axis, the game sets a parameter on your character / vehicle.
To give you another motor mode.
....oh no
The trigger for that is at the alien entrances.
Guys I don't have the recipe for the grappling arm
Maybe you can reach the entrance without grappling.
I couldn't unfortunately
You have a Seatruck? Try to use it as a bridge. :þ
...do you think I'd be able to carry the suit on top
The grapple is insanely useful underwater as well, more than the torpedo arm
can i use wave musik for the subnautica below zero jukebox
wave musik..?
If you mean putting your own songs in the Jukebox, I think it's possible by dropping the .mp3 files in the Jukebox music folder
Where is your Prawn Suit?
and a WAV
At the bottom of the deep twisty bridges, but I'm making the docking module so I can go grab it
I don't think .wav files work
ok
They're also very heavy
What they say about the restart is wrong though, you don't have to restart the game for the musics to show up.
oh, turns out you can!
Ignis, what happens if you delete the Cheli model file mid-game? Do they become invisible?
Or does the game die
You probably get an error, just the model?
Yes
The entire prefab you'll get an error when the game will deserialize your object. If you just remove the model I don't know.
So it will be like they don't exist.
You might get the same result.
Ok now omw to pick up my suit, wish me luck
Why?
300 depth max, suit is at almost 400
Can squidshark grab prawn suit
No
It can't but it'll shock ya
But you shouldn't hurt it like Ignis did
Too big i think
It can grab Robin tho
Self defence is reasonable
kill animation?
What should you do? Letting it much on it?
Regular attacks
Of course!
But a repair tool needs battery
@cinder estuary don't do that.
It grabs Robin but she punches the teeth, I guess they have nerves in their bones...
Soooo I can't dock my suit while it's stuck like this, but I did find out that if I get in the suit, exit, and pilot the docking unit I can "swim" without oxygen lol
You can dock it, I did it above.
OH NO IVE OOPSIED send help
I'm stuck inside the docking module and I can't get out lmao
Use unstuck again.
Ignis it's not docking 😦
No it blew up lol
You should do it like that, but reload your save since it's gone, the docking needs to be attached.
When it's docked press unstuck to swim, and go to the sanctuary with your Seatruck and the Prawn Suit.
are ther infinet of the green glowing qubes
No, but there are a lot. If you're worried you need one for the story and one for a portal that is optional. The rest can be used for the alien technology.
Optional as well.
ok
Well i would scream my lungs out...
But punching helps too
yeah, pretty much the plan. in the first subnautica I would install and deconstruct scanner rooms all over the world map to find what I want that way
But you need power for it, or thats what im thinking. Or does it function on its own?
in the first game atg least a single solar panel would panel it until it sunset. sometimes that was enough. I think two solar panels were enough to power a single scanner room
it was scanner room + hatch + solar panel (or two). that was it.
does anyone know where i can get nickel ore
I don't know how far you are in the game, but I found some just after and below M||eida's base|| (some spoilers)
ok thanks
also did anyone else have a problem with their snowfox falling through the map
what should i do after ||maidas greenhouse||
well from their i set my sight on fixing the bridge
and making a snowfox
affter i planted all the food
Depends what you have not done yet. Which Alterra facilities did you not visit yet, what ||AlAn Body parts|| did not find yet.
The plan: Seetruk mobile base, and a base around the middle of the map to grow plants
For many salad
im using a pc to play but i want to use a ps4 controller, but when i plug it in my screen just keeps spinning. what do i do?
Teeth aren't bones, though. Also, if some small creature was punching my teeth, I would let go.
It appears they often feed more on small fish than on larger creatures, so I would guess that they don't like prey that fights back. Then again, most predators wouldn't.
You're right
But the "teeth" don't look like regular teeth like us mammals have
They're more like tusks
They're still not bones but whatever
I was thinking that... They definitely seem embedded in their jaws very firmly. Are they the entire structure for the projecting mouth?
It looks like it
The structure looks like two hands, almost like a clam but with spikes
The trailer made it seem more flexible than it actually is
It also implied that squidsharks were found in the Kelp Forest... it's less than accurate, but I'm glad they were included.
Do you have a better image?
Whale? Ohh
I was going to guess that it was a cryptosuchus, but that didn't fit the "giant stingray" description.
Btw, the last communication with an pilot is very Nearby of there my question is… is very complicate that zone?
@steel shoal (Srry for tag)
I don't know what is the question, but no, it's not very dangerous
Probably depth might be the biggest issue, depending on your gear
Ok look my English is medium bad haha I’m from vzla so… I meant, if on that zone there are oddballs
I see you have 150m limit on your seatruck...you can get close to the beacon marker, but need to dive deeper to find her (the pilot)
Yeh I should improve that
Especially once you get into the caves, you shouldn't have much trouble with predators. ||There are some creatures that will steal your tools if you're holding them, and if you see orange tentacles waving in the water, avoid them.||
Oxygen plants are very helpful.
Yeh that oddballs are so cute, but very bad with that
And tentacles? I’m scare rn 😢
Sea monkeys are some of the best creatures in the game.
And why the Jellyfish Are they approaching me?
That makes me nervous
The jellyfish are harmless. You can scan them to find out more (they're an interesting creature, and you might find out something useful).
They're approaching to do harmless things then?
Do they follow the player? I didn't think so...
Uhmm.. ok!
In what depth there is the leviathan? @fervent bloom
I saw that there are some…
One on the Mainland and the other on de underwater
Those jellyfish and the whale you saw earlier are actually classified as leviathans. The Purple Vents where you are right now have a large and aggressive leviathan called the chelicerate, but you seem to have gotten past it without trouble.
Actually, there are three aggressive leviathans in the game: the chelicerate, the ||ice worm||, and the ||shadow leviathan||.
Bruh
Not all leviathans are dangerous, though; several are friendly and/or helpful.
(You can ride glow whales.)
Ohh that nice!
And yes I’m was Surprised that I didn’t see that leviathan on that zone, cuz in my first time exploring the zone I saw and I quite the game lmao
Where is find the The high capacity O2 bottle?
You can also interact with the glow whale on the right side of its face.
I am missing one
That's found in a databox in the Twisty Bridges biome. It's near a small tube someone built.
Ok… I don’t now whats is that biome cuz is my first time playing the game haha
That biome It's like a cave?
It's the place with coral bridges
South of the pod
I was complaining before about getting lost. Well, I just realized this map is way bigger than I initially thought
That's understandable, especially when the biome names aren't really in the game.
Ohh I will go for there
The map is still huge, just not as deep
Yeh yeh, but with coords I can orient me
If in S or N, NO, SE, etc
If you go toward Delta Station Dock from your pod, you'll cross the Twisty Bridges.
One time (2d ago) I mistook southwest for southeast and ran into what you told me was in the Mercury ship area.
Btw bro, where is the aerogel?
You encountered the chelicerate? Did it attack your Seatruck?
Where is find that?
Aerogel requires rubies and gel sacks, both of which can be found on the way to the ||pilot||.
Not in that moment I didn’t have the seatruck
Ohh… nice and to get to that area I have to run into that leviathan.
I'm glad if you survived it, then. From where you were in the ||Mercury II||, you're most of the way through the chelicerate's territory.
Are very dangerous that things?
The chelicerate is the leviathan you encountered. They do a huge amount of damage, but they shouldn't attack you as long as you don't linger in the area.
Ohh
Well… I need the aerogel and that is in the territory of that leviathan class. This is great
The ingredients for aerogel are actually in a different area. The ||Pilot Last Known Location|| should lead you to them.
(I'll be busy for a few minutes, but I'll be back eventually, and I'm happy to answer more questions.)
Sure! Is prob that I have more question while play the game haha
Ty for all bro!
which do you prefer: reinforcements or foundations?
reinforcements , by a lot
I use both, for very different reasons
foundation has a big issue: cannot remove without destroying everything it touches
I prefer reinforcements because I couldn't remove a foundation after I placed one
yes
Foundation removes the big poles its under...
I dont like it when theres like 50 poles all through eachother
Hello!
I would prefer that there be more supports for the large room, though.
I would prefer when the base is not growing legs onto my parked seatruck. Its soooo annoying.
Perhaps they could use enameled glass and give no penalty.
yeah
Hi
Loll
I was looking at my full alien containment and thought "ya know what would be a funny bug?"
If there was a bug that caused all the creatures to turn hostile, and the moment you entered you were ravaged and mauled in a tornady of fangs and red blots of blood in the water
huh
Hmm
It would be fun to make it so you can install a device on the alien containment so you can choose what kind of biome it is
ooooo yes
i was looking at the air and I thought "ya know what would be a funny bug?"
if there was a bug that caused the air to turn into an alien containment without me having to find the blueprint and resources so i could put the sea monkey eggs i have in it
seriously give me my alien containment 😢
Perhaps you should try to find another parking spot...
Not possible, it is THE parking spot for my base. That's why it is so annoying. Why the base grows legs to a seatruck? Thats not how it should be.
build the sea truck dock
It grows legs because you drive there too fast for the legs to get rendered
I have plenty of seatruck docks in my 26 bases. But my main base still has the concept of two connected moon pools for prawn and seatruck. So no option. All that's left is to deconstruct and reconstruct the two tubes every time this happens.
No, it happens after I parked the seatruck, leave the area and come back later.
can't you use the docking module to dock the prawn suit?
That detaches when the Seatruck is docked in a moonpool, unfortunately.
with the sea truck dock I mean
I see. Still, it doesn't recharge or repair the Prawn suit.
meh, I don't thinjk it matters so much
but ok
maybe use both?
1 moonpool and one truck dock
I thought the point was that markus_trachsel didn't want to use the Seatruck dock for this base.
I thought they wanted to just have it connected
the truck dock is also really useful
yes that works
sea monkeys are the best
try their right eye
Have you ever tried the other interaction?
it's a tiny thing, but yes
don't spool it
Have you ever found a glow whale egg?
there are glow whale eggs?!
rare as hens teeth
I don't think they're that rare... many of the ||Lilypad Islands|| have one or two.
how are you even going to hatch it?
many? I suspect theres 1 or 2 ingame
The egg alone takes up 9 slots in your inventory.
I'm pretty sure that there are at least five. Squidshark eggs are definitely rarer. I'll have to see how many I can find at some point.
do you just put it in the alien containment?
Yes, though they're much smaller than their full size inside. You can also pick them up once you release them.
ahh
I can't interact with the whale othjer than ride it
YES
Try the right side of its face...
that's pretty amazing
I found like 5 in 10 minutes
I've never been entirely sure how they get their eggs in caves in the ||Lilypad Islands||...
Yess
I did it but it's too dark to see what's happening
i'm gonna try to find a whale closer to the surface
Theres only || 2||
Thank you, I know. (I was actually referencing the glow whale eggs with the last sentence, so I'm sorry for the confusion.)
guys when i try to use a controller my screen looks up and starts spinning uncontrollably, how do i fix it (im on pc)
I think it's because of steam
whyyyy
disable the controller for the game on steam
and only the game will use the controller
ok
Maybe they poop it out there? Or push it there?
Do you prefer that, or riding them?
definitley the eye
I need to ride those that dwell in the East Arctic more.
I still wonder how || maida || survived weeks in the || reaper || with just 1 oxygen tank and a repair tool
|| she || states that it had taken weeks to float to the surface
what did you expect? it's ||maida||
It took WEEKS
my point still stands
I don't know, her survival makes little sense the more you think about it
also ||she ate the fat of the reaper||
I mean im happy for her she saw birds and she is ABSOLUTELY amazing
Does fat give oxygen
she had a rebreather?
Its just a weird thought that someone KILLED a giant beast, went INTO its corpse, SURVIVED for WEEKS and then still lives
idk i can'\ts tand when people expose plot holes in media i love ;-;
She's more of a villain, I'm with Allie on this one
Staying away from the woman
Your average ultra high capacity tank is 225 seconds full of oxygen
||Margeruite|| is the best
she had official supplies
not ones from salvage and natural resources
Who's Allie?
||How I call Al-An||
I love ||Alan||
Oh, right. I wonder if he'd mind that name...
I don't think he'll understand nicknames
She just seems like a woman that uses what she needs, she states in the pda 'Speaking freely' in subnautica that the boy is usefull. But i suppose she didnt build a whole base in the corpse
she's herself so she could do anything
Bart is kind, but she's not the smartest person ever
Yup
Bart's great
feel bad for him
I liked bart. He had a horrible death
She's reckless and doesn't think too deep, she was half of the reason why they all died
Maida and Paul both did really poorly
But i just find it weird she was weeks in the reaper with just 1 o2 tank
Bart was the mvp
bart's the actual best
He wanted to cure kharaa and didnt fight
Bart was the only good player in the team
but ||marguerite||'s awesome i wish she could teach me how to ||tame snow stalkers||
also she really ||helped sam||
imo if that counts as ||help||
||She rammed a seatruck with a bomb into a nuclear reactor||
epic
wait she did that?!
WHEN?!
Ryley was selfish, only saved the planet because he had to
Maida willingly put others' lives in danger
but at least she tried to help
also ||when did she blow up a nuclear reactor?!?!||
||Omega Lab||
||alterra kinda deserved it||
But not the people there
true
Vinh was a junior, still
emmanual does deserve it though I want him dead :3
He didn't seem particularly proud of his work
Was it at || omega lab ||?
marguerite is chaotic neutral
Oops didnt read the following chats
Alterran employees are not evil, they don't deserve suffering or even death because of the higher-ups' intentions
Why did she ram || omega lab|| where they too loud lol?
||She blew up Omega Lab to stop any progress on the Kharaa mutation, and probably to keep people busy while Sam went to the leviathan||
at least she tried to help bart?
She was gonna leave Bart and Paul starving
with the reaper
She didn't because a storm ruined the crops
But she was thinking about waking up in the morning, raiding it all and leave on her seamoth
I think she has anger issues
And also, never truly helped Bart on the research, she either killed everything, or almost killed Bart
also she was kinda right about going deeper
The reaper leviathan was more of an insult directed at Paul, she did not did it just for Bart
huh
That's the only part where she was right, and Bart agreed on it
yeah
I guess the Jellyshroom cave was also fine
but she also warned paul about the storm
so kinda his fault?
about the storm
and the crops
Maida wasn't trustworthy, so I forgive Paul for that one. But he was wrong about staying on the surface
He was also very wrong in coming to 4546B
yeah
Trying to collect treasures instead of actually surviving was also not very smart from him
He should've allowed Bart to go around
was it that bad that she encouraged bart to go out in the storm?
I mean it's their only food supply
she could've done it herself actually
No, Bart himself wanted to go outside
It's weird, in the conflicts, either one or the other are wrong, they never agree on anything. And then Maida gets to survive...
yeah
though Paul at least tried to save Bart
Where can I find the repair tool and builder tool?
fragments
Well where exactly can I find the fragments?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Repair tool is already unlocked, habitat builder is in small bases and supply areas. Visit the coral bridge areas
Okay thanks
guys i have a confession to make
I never finished the game
;-;
Finally built the seatruck and went off to go explore and realized a repair tool might be a good idea
How come?
I highly recommend, it's very fun in the later areas
True
I was too scared and I cheated and I stopped playing because I was cheating and I felt bad so I just watched gameplay ;-;
I'm on my first playthrtough with no cheats currently
In the beginning its a bit slow
I never found it slow, only when I didn't have a seaglide
also it's more embarrasing because I played for 56 hours without finishsing it
same
also the game is incredibley underrated
The game has a ton of stuff to do, and it's all connected through the PDAs
I also love the map
Me too
mesa be jar jar binks 😄
and I don't get why people hate that there is no cyclops
it makes sense because the map is more dense
The Cyclops was really fun, but it wouldn't fit BZ that much
yes
The biomes are not as tall
also the seatruck is amazing i love it
sad that they didn't have the seatruck dock at the start
I agree, I love the engine noises
i love that you can attach many many many modules
It's so well made, but I get it
I've been reading stuff about the development
the dock is awesome
I wish I could play the old versions of the story even if it's the short portion that was available
The game is not 100% fleshed out, and it shows in some parts. It's really sad that it didn't go as planned, but they still made an amazing job
Mechanically, it's super good, and the biomes/creatures are stunning (Cryptosuchus noises succ though)
yes
I remember when I was playing for the first time and someone in the chat said "look up, the Aurora" and I was looking for the ship--
And then the sky was so beautiful
you stream?
Yes, but not anymore, life's been busy
In many ways, Subnautica feels somewhat primitive compared to Below Zero. It has a great story, but they definitely improved the gameplay and experience in my opinion.
yes, and I think the BZ has also more story
