In Creative, I went south then west around the edge of the map, then north along the western edge of the map until I found this gap, which I think corresponds to the northern boundary of the map. This little alleyway extends for a long, long while before there is a wall. I was hoping it went all the way across the map, but alas.

Phi is the other one. Those purple vents make a good base area because it's central in the map.

If you get a thermal reactor blueprint you can also use the fumaroles (the purple vents themselves) for 24/7 power that's just a touch weaker than solar (but 24/7 so more overall).

worst things that could happen:

• you run out of disk space and cannot save anymore
• game crashes during autosave (but then it means whole save system is broken)
• game saves when you are fighting -> make autosave wait until you are out of aggro, and avoid saving below 25% hp or such. The game would freeze for couple seconds, but if you're ok with game freezing occasionally already, its not a big deal. Things don't move that fast here

The water gauge should show zero before you actually get zero.
Right now, it will happily show 2-5% left while number is already zero. You start taking damage, then after several seconds the gauge shows zero.
Also, its using some kind of segmented display instead of scaled bar. So you think you have some left, but in reality is should display as empty already.

Near ventgarden there is a bit of flat space at 600m deep, vertical wall to around 900m, then under it is a hollow crevice that goes down to 2400-ish where you find another sand seafloor that continues for couple hundred meters every direction, then a straight drop to around 3-4k, then just void down to engine limits.

Cheli is covered in soft chitin and the VGL has rams and enough torque in its eel-like body to employ it to devastating effect. I'd say VGL would critically wound the VC in 100% of scenarios where the VC successfully bites and latches on anywhere other than right behind the head. It also doesn't have any tools for killing; just eating.

VGL is faster, more maneuverable, and aggressive because it's territorial. In the VC's turf it turns around and leaves immediately. In its own it just beats its shell in until it sinks, then continues to swim around eating.

Reaper vs. Cheli is a better fight IMO; it would be a vicious grappling battle.
