These larger bases are more about how they look on the outside. If you were given a tour of the inside, you'd see a lot of the same thing. So if you wanna go for a large project, just focus on how it looks externally.

Since instead of roads I have all these corridors I can compact it quite a bit, and I can stack stuff on top of each other, and I have several square kilometers to work with, adding up to several tens of cubic kilometers, I can compact something comperable in size to only 500-600 meters from one side to another

What isn't shown is, that is the 200m deep sparse reef, and there is a vertical tube up to the surface, because I have something of a fixation with having living quarters up there. So its a LONG climb to go to bed.

Look at most seabases in fiction, and I think you could count the ones that are built like towers on one hand with fingers to spare.
For mine there, the only reason I have even 2-high room stacks is because those are ACU rooms, where I am going to house every plantable flora and breedable fauna.

@cerulean onyx coffie machines i put radios low over counters so they look like there sitting on top lab equpment if you go into the arora you can find a little model of the arora along with a little toy car

apologies for butting in the conversation, but i don't think any of the entrances can fit a cyclops 😅 i think you can spawn one inside using console commands, however. using the prawn or the seamoth is more advisable (esp. the prawn, since there's a bunch of large resource deposits in the caves)

I have bio reactor in multipurpose room on left with a water filtration and marble melon farm in bottom one
i Have Serenity, my seamoth in the moonpool
got observatory room and scanner room on max range but might add a speed module
and center room is just got fabricator and battery charger and single storage
plus outdoor farm that i will add every needed plant too
