there are very hostile fauna here and the base is built underground which drains power when trying to leave and enter the cave system, not to mention how easy it is to get lost

A few things I love when making a base: 1. verticality, 2. Integrating the base into the terrain, 3. a place to overlook the base, 4. plants as natural exterior lighting, 5. MP rooms over large rooms (the latter are just too big)

lots of eveyrthing, massive storage place and is so big it doesnt fit in one image
powering it is 10 or so solar panels set on the surface and 3 thermal reactors in one of the thermal spots near the delta dock
supporting my base is a second set in the lilypad islands that has a nuclear reactor and second storage serving a connection spot to restock
one also unfinished arctic spires base but we dont talk about that one since i never use it and just serves a relax place near snow stalkers
1 day and 15 hours on this save, story completed and everything is done i mostly come here to have fun and mess around and build more things
i really like this base and everything i made in it, and im intrested in your guyses opinion

I have this really good spot that's right next to the blood kelp trench, the kelp forest, and the safe shallows that's also fairly close to many other biomes somewhere in the grassy plateaus

It's also right next to wreck 2 for easy loot

I've been using it for my whole playthrough and its never let me down

I think the only problems is its kinda far from the mountain island and its next to the dunes so just dont go too far in that direction I guess

this is my megabase which I've planned for for a year using a fairly complex spreadsheet system which counted up every component i used to build it and all the materials I'd need for it all, as well as hull integrity. somehow i still have loads of materials left over so im not sure how that happened but more is better than not enough

Just some tips I’ve made. Hope these help with your builds.

1. Purpose, what is your base(s) purpose? Build it around it, make it make sense gameplay wise.
2. Size, only add what you need, less is more and provides better access to all compartments.
3. Layers, 2/3 layer bases are the best imo. Reducing travel time and compacting the base nicely.
4. Jigsaw puzzle, play with the space and mix and match building pieces to build something that feels right.

all the oculi and reginalds in my 5-storey alien containment are infected and i dont really wanna have any other animals in that one so i converted my large room into another aquarium space then build another large room on top and moved all the interiors into that one

it was tedious, especially moving everything from the lockers, but worth it

also didn't know that the alien containments did that glass thing in the floor, i really like that

If anyone in here wants to make really cool looking bases, the biggest tip I can give is to add varying elevation.

I don't mean just big multipurpose room towers, I mean connect hallways vertically with ladders, have multi-level foundations with winding hallways that connect your vertically-varied sectors.

Also abuse glass halls and windows. They never look bad 💯

A common build I use is a airlock chamber
I place a I compartment and then I put a hatch and a bulkhead and reinforcements then a window
It makes it look and feel like a proper airlock

So this base has been a long project I've been expanding on for quite a while. I started building this on my xbox a few years ago and was able to complete the void section, the breeding tanks, and everything up to the lost river entrance. When I built a pc, I was very happy to see that the save file was cross platform. I wanted to build the end right up to the final door, but due to crashing on saves, this is where is ends (about 25m short). Every moon pool is fully equipped with food, water, repair equipment, and storage. I am very happy with how the base turned out. I died. A lot. Warpers suck.

I just finished this base that I’m planning on building in below zero when it comes out to mobile there’s a couple things I have to tweak but I have one question I have do aquariums located in the first level multi purpose rooms I don’t think you can see them but they are kinda in the way should I keep them or nah
