ur good
and thanks
Outpost Quantum is on high alert. A Chelicerate Leviathan followed one of the researchers back to base and is now lingering. We are discouraging everyone to stay within the base. The baseâs Seatruck (The Quantum Vessel) and P.R.A.W.N. Suit (the Quantum PRAWN) are both out on a mission to explore a recently discovered cave system which we have named the âCrystal Cavernâ. The Leviathan has, luckily, not yet hurt anyone. The Mercury IIâs remains have been discovered, as well as a Vent Garden Leviathan. More research is currently being conducted on the Crystal Cavern.
I was bored so I did this
You either need to light that up with some creepvine seed clusters in exterior growbeds, or take a ss during the daytime.
Floodlights and Lightsticks work aa well.
nice i also did something while i was bored and it was do a 4 cyclops 4 seamoth 4 robots i think and a ton of nuclear reactors
and my ps4 was almost dead when i did that
but nice base
took me 45 mins to build in creative
i am creative
didnt take a pic of the mxawellmoth area cuz you alreay saw it
rate my base
10/10
OK, my creative builds are tubes all over the place, yours is really good tho
i made maxwell suit and thanks
you can have the world file if you want
Np
Sure

@rustic goblet dmms
@rustic goblet wake UP!!!
No windows, no trees, no voxel shrubs? đ
Not everybody likes windows, trees, and voxel shrubs. But I do. Especially voxek shrubs they look purty. :)
theres windows
there is windows but i havent donea nything with the trees
yet
woah thats cool
void edge base
came up with a really cool base concept, basically the one from earlier but better
its so expensive tho
9 multipurpose rooms, 6 large rooms, a scanner and a LOT of compartments
and 3 moonpools
the plan is to head to STP to gather all the lithium i need, then go to crash site and fill my cyclops with a ton of titanium, then drill for quartz in the dunes
reapers might get annoying but if i keep track of them and get out to blast them with a repulsion cannon they shoulnt be an issue
i wanna see if i can get a forklift inside of it
Heres its location btw
I built this during my first complete playthrough
So empty... Needs plants
how do you split the aquarium in two like that?
on the penultimate image
is that a mod ?
no mod, the aquarium always takes up two of the center spots in the large room. When I built it I was actually expecting them to connect.
There are three places for a containment in a large room. you can have one on each end, and a small gap in the middle, or one centered in the room. If you have one on each end, and have another large room directly above or below, and then place an alien containment centered, like in that pic, it will actually merge all three into one large tank.
If you have a large room above another and have alien containments stacked on top of each other, they also merge into a single space. But this method gives it a whole different shape.
And for me at least, quite u expected when I first ran into this. I just assumed that since they werenât directly aligned they wouldnât join. I had quite the surprise when I returned to my base after building thatâŚ. I had about a dozen varieties of fish with one each in the containments, and was starting a new area. Joining the let the breed like crazyâŚ
Exactly, mine goes over 4 levels.
the ground level has one tank on the far end, the second level has two tanks, the third has one in the center, and the fourth has one on the near end.
I used to like stacked large rooms but now they look like brutalistic buildings to me.
Full of alien containments inside the middle two towers. Left side was just for balance. đ
and it looks like there's more underwater...
Good luck decorating that...
Not a lot, just parking and some water filtration.
ah yeah, not much
Yeah, I never quite got into the interior decorating much, other than plants.
Outside plants are cool though.
My almost finished survival base, at the moment all that needs finishing is the interior
I like survival bases. It shows some effort put in the construction. Better than those megabulidings which consists in a pile of large room habitat and made in freedom mode
Iâm indecisive as is. I donât wanna spend a ton of time collecting resources and such just to go ânah, I donât like it, Iâm gonna start overâ. Plus, I just like building for fun and story purposes. All power to those who can build a survival base that theyâre happy with, I could literally never. But I canât help but agree with the âpile of large roomâ bit, too accurate lol.
Definitly not "against" freedom bases. Just a personal preference. All tastes are in nature â¤ď¸
All of my bases are in Survival. đ
wdym makeshift
lots of corridors afaik
Maybe glass tunnels surrounding it.
and a moon pool underit
yes
a moonpool under it so when u go out its waiting for you
or just a glass tunnel leading to the base
In the void? What? At the bottom?
Right next to the void, I assume.
no right next to
thats cool
What's the screenshot button on pc?
F11.
Thanks
i just moved bases and i managed to move everything in my other base that i had, and i dont wanna move again
Yeah, I always try to build as minimal a base as possible starting out, and then figure out where I want the main base to be. Less to move.
i like to build a big base, i dont really know why but i just do it
Oh yes, I always build big bases for my main one.
That's actually a great idea. I should do that.
Basically just something I can put some wall lockers in, charge batteries, etc.
Also build a number of scanner rooms when I can to find resources and fragments.
Once I have my big vehicle, either Cyclops or SeaTruck, then I start planning the big base.
laughs in no self-control
Did you put that screenshot in a time capsule? I got one yesterday that looked exactly the same.
Thoughts on this interior work I've done recently
Looks real nice :D
No trees đŚ
no
Oh
yeah
I think it looks very nice. It feels very lived-in, with chairs slightly askew and the arcade gorge toy on the bed.
Future base layout, any thoughts or suggestions on it
I like to build up a less visible core of MP rooms to hide a bunch of reinforcements, so that I can build elaborate glass things around it
Currently I have it set up so that the back where the view is terrible is currently just a bunch of reinforcements
The way the multipurpose rooms are staggered looks fantastic!
Horribly, outrageously beautiful and nice
Ty

Why are you pinging random users? You're not even complimenting some of them or anything.
I am not pinging them. I have the ping off.
Also, I am building a base.
@fading trench
You pinged everyone except me.
There's an @ symbol on all those messages, except for the one replying to me.
Nope. I don't see those @ symbols currently.
You can copy the links to a server of your own, no need to flood this channel.
hi
But guys come on itâs just a ping stop being so wiki!?! đ
Current status of the base
Does your base start losing hull integrity below a certain depth
yes
each piece takes up more integrity as you go deeper
Finally built my first bioreactor for my base! Any thoughts?
How
Why does it look so... damaged?
Nah its fine
What happened?
I built a bioreactor
But it looks exploded
Its fiiiine
And thatâs not what they look like what did you do?
Someone suggested me to put a reaper leviathan in it
And i mean it gave me a lot of power
Im sure it can handle another one tho
They spawned a bioreactor fragment.
Oh
It would kinda be cool if you gave it too much power it would blow up or something even though that would be annoying to deal with
Giving it too much power makes no sense, as it just processed what's inside to create power. Now, if the items added as still alive and fighting to get out, that's a different issue...
Looks perfectly fine no problems here
Minerals

What
ItâsâŚlingering. Waiting. WeâŚmay need to send someone out in the Quantum P.R.A.W.N. to lure it away. We are still unsure for a plan of action.
Very nice
Given that a Chelicerate followed a crew member back to base, perhaps the same can be said for other leviathan species. There have been rumours of a Void Chelicerate existing in the Arctic Void of Planet 4546B.
@soft bane Hey, we've noticed you haven't posted any bases for a while, and yet you are still talking here, telling a story. Just wanted to tell that this isn't the right channel for it, this is for sharing your bases, gardens, etc!
(unable to capture the base in all its glory due to the render distance)
Outpost Quantum, Precursor Research Facility.
I can just see all the titanium you gathered and how painful it was
half-right
Have you built that base in Creative mode ?
This was fun to build
The vault
Nice
Here's a little base tour! I am still improving it, will probably make a garden inside the ACU. The garden was really hard to make (there are too few plants)
My favorite lesbians on the desk, mhm
Thinking of hiding the reactor with plants, not sure how though
Ooh I really love all the plants especially the outside colors!
I use signs inside too, very nice indeedđĽł
I can hear the rommm rommm of the reactor lolđ
I found out that not using my headset makes the rommm rommm barely noticeable.
I should probably mention, this is my first and only base in BZ, I'd love to hear suggestions. I really love this place, it's deep enough to have fish above the dome, but shallow enough to be slightly above water, and to see the Aurora from the lower floor. The OST is phenomenal as well (Twisty Bridges my beloved)
If only we had more to decorate with (next game, PLEASEđ)
I just had a photoshoot with Wormy in the Arctic Spires, they work so well in picture frames
Great base, lots of details. Well done!
Iâm working on a new one near the ventgarden. Previously had various ones around Delta and also up on an iceberg.
I like it!
Lantern trees could work well; they provide more coverage than other plants of similar size.
I'm building a Below Zero base above the Deep Twisty Bridges. It's 152 meters deep and just above an ||Architect|| pillar. I might post an image if I can figure out how.
yeah, why?
Cool
Are there any more fauna in a second level? Also, you'll soon have quite a few eyeyes in there.
in general, I want to build a base in the form of a tower, where there will be many floors up and down and a central room with a staircase will connect to a large aquarium
It's a pity that there are no spiral staircases in the game
Where are you building your tower? I would love any staircases in Subnautica, spiral or otherwise.
So far, I'm building in the blood kelp zone, near the entrance to the lost river
I plan to move to the Active Lava Zone
That's not going to be an easy base to build. May I suggest that you build a second one there, rather than moving the first?
Yep
but I will need tons of materials
for now I use this base as an intermediate point from the surface to the lava zone
That's why there are so many lockers)
Ah... I like your plan!
I want to make each floor have a specific task
Scientific floor, recreation floor, residential floor, restaurant floor, transport floor, warehouse floor, generator floor...
But I absolutely do not know what to do with the sea dragon
They can't actually hurt your base, so that will help, though vehicles are still fair game.
In general, I planned to kill them
But then there won't be a good view from the window
One could be a greenhouse. I know you already have another area for that, but still.
Having a lab kind of place is fun
Like, counter, lab equipment
Vials and such
Nuclear waste disposal looks cool
And is cheap, so I build one for the looks even if I donât use a reactor
That could work
Observatory with plant pot in the middle is super cool too
I like lantern tree personally, but anything would work
I don't know if it's awesome yet, but I'm enjoying what I've made so far
Base idea
The middle part over the garden is bedroom with observatory
Any tips? Let me know
You could use a screenshot for the map, it's kind of confusing
The moonpool itself is not as big as you interpreted in this drawing
The large room is also not large enough to fit in a 2 room + corridor radius
What you can do is make 2 moonpool (for seamoth and exosuit, or maybe 2 exosuits for different purposes) and connect them with a corridor
You can also connect 2 rooms with one moonpool using a system of corridors like this
maybe i dont place a tube between the multipurp rooms
maybe they fit then
Then that would result in one of the rooms being off center from the room in the middle
A large room would fit, but not a moonpool
Also i do hope that you realise that placing a room in the middle of foundations is not possible, maximum what you can do is this
But i would imagine that you would like your base to look something like this, right?
(Without the hatch on the left room)
I would personally just add more glass, to make corridors less claustrophobic
Maybe in a moonpool area i would also put 2 large rooms, which is a little bit expensive, but could work as a really large storage area (and having really large storage area is always nice. You can organize it and do whatever you want with it) with 2 moonpools either like on the left or on the right
ok
Also if you will choose the variant on the right dont forget something on the wall to make only 1 corridor
yeah i know that
i will post a picture of the final result. probablyin a afew hours
Alright, good luck with it
ty
Creative mode
Oooo, looks really really interesting!
I like that
Ty
Now to get SO many glass and titanium
I had to do a bit of a twist at the left side to make the multi purp rooms for
OH I
forgot the moonpool
Just you wait until i get posters etc.
Titanium - aurora
Glass - safe shallows
But you can also usually get enough materials from safe shallows alone
đ im starting a survival save rn
That looks fantastic! I approve of the amount of glass.
Work in progress Survival base near the Ventgarden.
they stationary? have yet to play bz
The adult one is, there is a juvenile version that moves around.
Ty. My base always looked do bland and i started to play with windows and plants and now its much better. That was in creative tho... now to make it in survival
Thats cool! Is this tge stationary or the juvinile one?
The Adult (stationary)
đ
The Juvenile ones are mostly in groups of 3 iirc, and tend to roam a little, about as big as the player I think
Im gonna need a LOT of reinforcement. Im thinking of placing it in tubes where theres no Windows
Anyone got any photos of above ground BZ based? I need ideas cause I ain't creative đ
That's really cool. That gonna be main base?
Sorry I responded so laye
Went to bed đ
I thought they were supposed to be 22 meters tall.
Iâm mis-remembering then, if thatâs the case, mb
Main base. First time doing multiple seatruck docks, three there now. Still mulling things over.
Problems finding Stalker Teeth for those sweet glass roofs?
Contact Farmalots trading post on Planet 4546B or build yourselfes a farm:
- min. 9 foundations and at least 6 modules tall (they need their space đ )
- can be build at depth with a roof or in shallow waters open to the sun
- raise 5 stalkers from eggs and drop them inside with an piece of wreckage for each (The yield of a single night is almost a full wall locker)
I actually started doing something like that but it was too much work. I ended up finding a few stalkers in the wild, dropped some metal and a grav ball. Grav balls picks up the teeth when they drop, just grab them and wait for the next ones.
They WILL drag the grav ball away over time so you need to keep an eye on it.
I probably had a dozen teeth or more in maybe 15 minutes? It was a while back so I donât recall exactly.
Side note: raised Stalkers seem to vanish after you load the game, only the lured in "natural" Stalkers persist through saves
Interesting...
No such thing as too bigâŚ
Seriously though, you have to design against what you want from a base. I mainly go for exterior looks and lots of alien containment on the inside. I donât really create living spaces, but I understand the appeal.
Large rooms are ideal for plants and alien containments. I rarely use multipurpose rooms unless I can think of a good plan for them. A while back I used one to hold several water filtration machines, that was kinda cool.
Cozy. I get it. You may want to try to get creative with the corridors. Ladders can often disrupt the flow. I sometimes will use an I-corridor to branch off just to have a ladder thatâs out of the way.
I just had a crazy idea for something totally useless. A maze of corridors and bends and dead ends connecting several rooms together.

a little ~~hamster ~~ survivor maze?
I need a good idea for a outdoor garden in the middle of my base
Thats gonna take a lot of reinforcement
Wait this is actually usefull
Lemme screenshot that real quick
Not too much really. I already had the reinforcements in place on that pic.
I eliminated the vertical bit going up from that pic, I was trying to get some solar attached directly to the base but it didnât work out like I wanted, found a better solution with some thermal directly attached. Might get a pic posted later. Still thinking about the dock placements.
I often like those better. It's a style more like the Degasi bases from Subnautica rather than the Alterra bases in Below Zero. I think they often look better from the outside.
đ
Ooh that works too
Maze of doom...
Creative, didnât feel like getting the resources to do that in survival. Fun lunch diversion. LoL Find the right path to get around. Lots of dead ends.
That's brilliant! Sometimes I like to try building something really unusual in Creative - if it doesn't work out they way I want it too, it's not a problem!
Excellent use for that mode. I use it pretty rarely.
I am the same. For example, I might try to build a ladder up the side of ||Mountain Island|| in Creative.
Nice
Now if you want real doom you just swim around outside it
Needs windows, but looks really nice and cozy
Not a lot of windows but othereise my base woold flood
Reinforcemens thoughhh
Theres some walla planters and plant pots
They loook really well on corridors
I know but i need l i t h i u m
And my luck in the jellyshroom caves wasnt the best
Im gonna go back after i get the seamoth mk1 from airora
I stopped playing cuz i had to do something so i get more lithium tommorow
Base update tomorrow confirmed???
What do you mean?
I like it. It's well laid out and looks cozy. I agree with Spooky Landy about the windows, though.
Maybe i will add more glass and windows like andy saod
The problem is. 1 reinforcement is not enough. So i go to jellyshroom cavaes and get lithium. And then maybe when theres more glass post a base update picture tomorrow
If you need lithium, there is a lot in the caves on the ||Mountain Island||.
There are separate chunks and shale outcrops.
Im planning to go to || mountain island || when i get the sunbeam marker
Still need to improve a bit, but I think it's worth sharing with you all. I will add more compartments in the future.
Exterior garden is obviously not complete yet.
That looks goooood
Hi fellas etc, my first message here. Is this the right place for AA-meeting for being hooked to the base building in Subnautica?
pic 1. Here's my pet cage. Sadly it's little snug for my Greg whose tail is peeking drought tho I really tried to make them a nice big yard.
pic 2. The yard
pic 3. Greg saying hello :3
I've never seen such a well-designed leviathan cage base. It's beautiful!
Nice! I like your greenhouse level especially.
yo thats really cool ima take inspo from that
Thanks, feel free to do so!
I love stealing Andy's brain creations, they're pretty cool.
How did you get Greg inside? Did you use console commands?
@pseudo rain best way to do it without the hud all in the way as far as ik on xbox
Dang, Looks really nice!
thank you!
im taking some interior screenshots atm, kinda proud of how it looks so far
Alr
I see why you are proud of it, Looks fantastic!
thank you that means a lot fr
i have all the basic ones atm
still gotta build the ||rocket||
yea im replaying, actually my third time lol
Ah, niice
fr, b4 i bought it id watch my friend stream it for hours lmao
Mhm
Oh also, When youâve gotten and finished Below Zero i have a game you might find interesting
Itâs called âNo Manâs Skyâ
Pretty similar to subnautica in some things
Huge map and loads of fun
yk ive tried playing and i just keep getting lost lmao
can never figure out what to do after the first planet
Sounds good
So theres 4 windows now
Not enough quarts sadly
I added some glass, a 2nd floor which is a bedroom amd a plant room. I added floodlights and a growbed for creepvines
Im really proud of it
what should i put here? it was originally a observetory.
i was thinking about moving the observetory back
i moved it back
I think it looks amazing; you should be proud of it. I love the glass dome especially.
Ty
When i go deeper i wanna keep it also as simple as this ond
Maybe i just copy it
And then expand
I like the simplicity. It's small, but feels plenty big enough and looks nice and cozy.
I was shocked how nice it looked with al the windows
I always put on as many windows as I possibly can without my base flooding.
Yeah its simple. Nothing too crazy but its good enough for all the neccesary needs
I had to grind some lithium for some reinforcement. I put that in the hallway to the scanner room
And the front part is 2 storage rooms with a bulkhead for even more reinforcement. And it looks like a mini vault
The storage rooms are the I-compartments with solar panels?
Yes
2 bulkheads is like +4 or +6 reinforcement and it looks stylish
It feels very industrial, which isn't great for a bedroom, but is great around a moonpool or something.
Yeah
Do you have any interior base pictures?
Not right now
I can do it tommorow i cant play rn
I will try to film a base tour or just pictures
Sounds great! I'll watch for it.
Im not very good at multitasking so a controller and phone would be a challenge đ
Yeah, I believe it. I might post pictures of my base at some point.
Where is a good spot for a base in below zero
Bc mine is in the kopa mines but I am probably going to move
That's actually a cool location, if not necessarily the most accessible. I've been wanting to build there.
Lots of good spots, it really comes down to what your goals are. Big base, functional base, central location, interesting scenery, etc.
i need suggestions on what to build next
An interior garden. An exterior decorative garden involving all plants you can find.
Probably lilypads, you can also build on land but ive never done that
ooooh I never thought of that!
I know EXACTLY where I'm building when I get to BZ now! :3
đ
đ
A moonpool (there should be plenty of fragments in your area) and a storage area
Also are you using this oxygen thing? Because i dont see any tubes
đ
Base tourrr
The first picture is the bedroom, the sexond my moonpool and the third the main room. The last is a storage (same on both sides)
And in the bedroom you can see a room connected to it. Theres gonna be a 2floor tower with bio reactor and acu
Need plant pots and several more voxel shrubs
I think i have some voxel shrubs on the right wall on the third picture
Its a small pink plant
Now is the question where are you gonna dock your cyclops
Build a base somewhere deeper. Maybe kushroom forest
Are you always online?
Do you mean mushroom forest
Not always. Ususally in the morning and evening im online.
Yes
Question: do lilypad tops count as land? Also, I would definitely prefer to build on the underwater rocks rather than the floating leaves.
7/10
It looks solid, but it could use more decoration. I can't see the whole exterior. I like it, though.
ty
Only 75m, Iâd add a handful of solar panels, they should generate good power at that depth.
Decent amount of room for lockers, space for a water filtration machine when you get that far.
Add a foundation to put them on and enjoy the extra integrity boost.
where do u get water filration systems? is it in the Sparse Reef?
there should be one by the ||Degasi habitat in Jellyshroom caves||
I honestly donât remember without googling.
You can also find it in the Dunes and Bulb Zone wrecks
how deep is it
250
Good stuff to scan there.
My current Jellyshroom base, needs more decor
I like that I can properly see my indoor garden outside
đ
Too organized, it doesn't look like a jungle
mah ocd
You may use the final floor as inspiration <3
I like it; I approve of the glass usage. The creepvine glow is nice in the dark purple caves, too.
I was able to build solar pannels on the lily pads. So i think you can build a base on top of it
I saw so many good plants || on the floating island|| but i dknt wanna go back and get them all again. Imaginaire having to boat your way to there for 1 minute
I didnt have enough space
Hi, what are the best place for a main base?
Wherever you think is best
Behind the Aurora. Around the trusters
isnt that where well ya know
yup, dont go there exept if you kill em all
really friendly people
They like hugs
Thank you; I know they are effectively land, but I was asking whether a base on lilypads would count as a land base.
Definitely don't kill them all; it's not the reaper's fault they think your vehicles look tasty.
I think so
They also have a attacks cooldown
Exactly!
I had an absolutley awsome Jellyshroom base on my hardcore world.... Turns out that it was probably not the best place for a first base in hardcore....
Watch out! The skull is gonna take a bite!
I always realized that it was big, but that somehow shows the true scale of that ||skull|| better than anything else.
I hope you didn't kill the ghost leviathan, though.
i regret it to this day
i had even named him
he was called geralt
Poor Geralt. Did you name them before or after you killed them?
I did die once setting up the thermals to their max, lmao
I almost did too lol, but died to the crabsnakes instead while installing windows.
oop
VERY cool location. I like a lot
thanks : D
dawg thats actually rlly cool
can only imagine how much titanium was needed fr fr
I could actually do the maths... give me like a week
oh alr lmao
Excluding furniture like fabricators and such... I've used around 550 titanium in this base
damnnn
i could never fr i always run out so quick
Plus 60 on the outdoor gard
Good base takes a lot of resource collection. Time well spent.
nice spot without the other rooms it looks like a small lunchbox.
That's hard.
But... funny also.
before lmao
but he was disrupting my base building, so he got assasinated
Why did you decide to name them, then?
My current project, at the moment I am designing this in creative but I plan on attempting to rebuild it in a survival save, it will most likely have to be adapted though due to how I'm not entirely sure if its structurally secure.
If they have not actually patched that bug where hull integrity does not work above the water - then its almost secure. You will just need some walls and foundations underwater
Hopefully your right, I suppose I'll find out after I finish the design and actually attempt to recreate it in survival
That looks fantastic! I think it's intentional that hull integrity is not an issue when not underwater.
bro why do you need a base so big
That isnât big đ
It wasn't that funny when it happened though....
I love all the glass.
I don't need it, but I can build it
Ty, glass helps make it feel less man made and artificial, it's amazing what a simple view can accomplish
I feel the same way - it adds interest. I also like to have plenty of plants.
Plants are a major part of making any base feel alive and colorful
What are your favorite types?
I just watched the full video of your base and I would describe it as "fantastically vast".
I like putting pretty much all of them, a good wide diverse collection is always better then a few specific kind, though I am partly bias to the few flowers
I've never loved voxel shrubs (sorry Andy Landy if you're reading this); I like the ming plant, pink cap, bulbo tree, and grub basket.
It's not a bug as far as I know. Hull Integrity applies to water pressure but since there isn't any out of the water hull integrity doesn't matter.
Yeah idk why integrity would matter as much above water unless it causes things to collapse
No integrity issues above water is by design.
What's the temp on those reactors on top of your base? I'd have thought having them on the ground would be better?
It's temporary. Temperature - 70°
Some of the finished rooms of the base
Nice!
Oh my god, it looks really really cool!
made some kinda lighthouse, planning on upgrading it soon
such a good view (dont mind the 6 seamoths just chilling there)
Is that below zero? If so how are there seamoths?
dont type "spawn seamoth" into the cmd bar in BZ,worst mistake of my life
You could also use some spotlight with your floodlight. It could give a good effect
Pretty much impossible through normal means.
I just completed my 24th base in my game, the east arctic vulcano base. Its a base that starts at 211m depth with the seatruck dock. From there you go down the ladder to the main facility at 274m. The main facility is just above the vulcano. From there you go down the ladder to 498m into the east artic vulcano. There you find a laboratory and three obeservatory to study the alien artefact inside the vulcano.
It looks great! How much reinforcement did you need for all of those windows? Also, I can see that you released a jellyray - one of my favorite creatures.
People who use hatched creatures as decoration are so cool
Agreed; is that better than having interesting creatures there already? I don't like to mess with the ecosystem.
I build in barren empty areas, so it doesn't matter much
I prefer locations with plenty of creatures, such as the Lilypad Islands seafloor or the Twisty Bridges in Below Zero.
I find the best looking creatures and scatter them around my base. Clear water biomes work best for me.
I've always found it funny that there are no biomes in either game with particularly murky water. I suppose it would be less interesting, but it would also be more realistic.
What creatures do you choose?
I suppose murky water would make exploration a bit more difficultâŚ
First game I usually do main base near safe shallows, gorgeous water, coral, etc. Iâve done bases elsewhere but I was never totally happy with them.
Below zero my main base usually is up on an iceberg with an attached underwater area. Lots of pengwings up top that I breed and release.
Colorful fish underwater, I usually try to get a good variety, space allowing. Canât have too many of the larger ones swimming about.
built some kinda diner in my base
here it is from the outside (yeah im standing on a foundation)
Be my guest
OH MY GOOOOD
DUDE
It looks so cool!
A lot of details, pure vanilla
Just perfect
I was proud of my base until I saw this
You are just not done with it, keep it up!
Thanks
I just love deocrating my bases to the max. And I am trying to do the best with the material the game gives you. Which is unfortunately quite limited.
I think yours looks great! If I had a suggestion, it would be to add more windows.
Hold on... Aurora toy? Science tools?
Are they still placeable in bz? I thought that they are bugged now
I haven't been able to pick them up... it's the same with the flasks in areas other than ||Phi Robotics||.
Yes, you cant pick them up, you can only spawn them with commands
But i thought that they are not placeable anymore?
I wouldn't know, then.
||Lava Lakes base.||
And it has jacuzzi.
Yeah, scenic swimming pool
Need a jacuzzi in Below Zero, something to take the chill away. đ
fumaroles are already in bz
That is very impressive, especially in Survival. How long did it take and how did you avoid dying from leviathans/warpers/heat on the exterior parts? Also, what did it take to get the resources down there?
I've always liked the idea of a base that starts in the ||Primary Containment Facility|| entrance and leads out into the ||Lava Lakes|| to avoid predators.
I have the base near the portal system. I bring the materials through there. The heat wasn't so much of a problem. I mostly would build a hatch and swim around the areas I was near and then dismantle it. As for the fauna, I'm cured, so no warper issue, the work was done mostly while the sea dragon was on the other side of hte cavern, and my only issue was the lava lizards, which I have 4 med stations for continual healing. Plus I keep my food and water full, so I regen.
I love the ||portals||. It's so satisfying to go through to get supplies from the ||Lost River|| or something. Do you just keep a hatch nearby if the ||sea dragon|| returns?
Yup, and he does. He loves to turn around and sneak up on me without making noise.
It would be a better hunting strategy to be mostly silent, but I do appreciate the warning. At least the reaper leviathan is given a reason.
Whats for dinner?
Sorry for the late reply, here we go:
Looks abt rihgt can i have the number 1
Alterrans be hating that menu. Where are the nutrient blocks?
Go find them
I wish you could make your own nutrient blocks, rather than finding them only.
There's at least 1 mod for this, but it's super weird.
If I recall correctly, it uses the uh... Sea Treader stuff to craft them đ
Kek
That's unfortunate. What else do you need, and why would anyone put that in the recipe?
I think that's honestly just it.
But this isn't the place to talk about it, maybe #off-topic or something?
Okay, that works.
No Leviathan Chowder?
If Maida would come over for dinner I would ask the chef to put it on the menue.
did you take that photo on the right, it looks really good
I'm trying to get some good photos for my base
I believe its a poster/painting if its in bz
ah ok, i'm in sn not bz
Bro asked "What's fear?"
But seriously, awesome base
PS5
it ain't awesome if it's all flooded
I already fixed it
Itâs drained
Woooow. That needs a lot of reinforcement
Yep it did
Rip
How long did it take
4 hours or smth
You have a lot of patience i guess
Well it was worth it
This is my seconds base ever rate it out of 10
I need so much more quarts đ
Do you know a place I could get some?
Currently a 6 imo. Its a bit too big for ME. I like things snall and simple. Its also ofcourse not decoratated yet.
Near the || drf ||. And dunes and mountains
Or like
Crag field or grand reef
really well done
u could add more vertical space with the second floor and make the large room have a glass roof
Thanks! There is another large room out of sight of the camera that has a glass roof
What's the interior of the large room used for? I like the design.
nuclear reactor and alien containment
I gotta design the interior still
Ah, I see. What fauna are you containing?
jellyrays and cuddlefish
I love jellyrays đ
As do I! I like their bioluminescence and noises, and they're adorable.
They really are!
This is my Below Zero base - Arctic Ray Station, built in the Twisty Bridges.
Love it!
Thank you! I have the moonpool and Seatruck dock, but I prefer to have only one module for maneuverability and thus park it on the foundation.
Thatâs why I have two seatrucksâŚ. Short runs and long ones.
Something new on this save.
That's a good idea. I avoid killing animals, so I would prefer to not have an extremely large and unwieldy vehicle, though. Additionally, the Seatruck dock is perhaps overly large to fit well here.
there is a seatruck dock?
Oh, yes. It's a massive glass tube that can dock the Seatruck and its modules.
woah that is cool, when i start my bz run after finishing subnautica, ill make that thing first
Unfortunately, you don't get it right away. It comes with the moonpool blueprint, which is found fairly deep. You only need one "fragment", though.
kk
actually
@signal raptor ill give you a tour in public vc
wait
i cant stream there
oof
ill just use images
the nightsub!
I like your Cyclops. What's the story with the random peeper swimming around in the interior? Something similar happened to me with a ||lava larva||.
it showed up one day, now hes a resident named jeremy
the one and only main base!
Itâs not great tbh
But it worked
I like the linear design scheme. What are the different purposes of the multipurpose rooms?
What were you planning?
more decorations, upstairs bedroom, nuclear reactor+another filtration, more corridors leading to rooms of storage
also my seamoth seems to have dissapeared
i know my prawn got destroyed by a||||
bruh
||sea dragon||
but i thought my seamoth still existed
it was the nightmoth originally
same with the nightsuit
the nightsub seems to be the only one left
im thinking for my actual base ima have part of it flooded, like maybe the storage rooms for ease of access with upwards connectors
use bulkheads to make sure whole base dont get flooded
ram it with my nightsub to flood it
my most valued possesion:
where do i find it?
i want it for the new base
Even with a flooded base, I believe you will still need to climb ladders, and vertical connectors cannot attach to multipurpose rooms.
Corridor go outwards, verti corridor go up, normal corridor go sideways, multipurpose
That would work, then. Good idea!
Can they attach to large rooms?
Vertical connectors only work for some compartments.
No, unfortunately. I was confused until I read that they only worked on compartments.
Oof
Also btw Iâm away with friends so wonât be on much, if you ping I prob wonât respond until later
Now that I can take screenshots in Subnautica by plugging in my keyboard and pressing F6 to disable the HUD, I have been able to take a great many wonderful photos of my (nearly complete) main base of operations, of which I shall show you all
Upon entering the main habitat, youâd find a quaint little workshop to your left. It has my fabricator, modification station, battery charger, trash can and an assortment of other purely decorative items
Further along that wall is a small casual area, complete with a bench, vending machine and lovely wall poster. You can also catch a glimpse of the bioreactor room
On the opposite side of that doorway is a little kitchen area, including a locker to store cured food and salts. You can also we the door to my personal quarters, which weâll explore later
While weâre here, hereâs a peek into that bioreactor room I mentioned
On the opposite side of the main habitat is the entry to my organised storage area. Heading through here weâll find the hallway to the moonpool
And hereâs the moonpool! Nothing special, though it does have quite a view
Upon entering we can take another right into a long corridor, which has a nice big window for more scenic views. After exiting, we arrive back where we started, which affords the chance for some decent wideshots of the main living space (note, I plan to add more here, including an alien containment unit)
Heading into my person quarters, youâd find it to be divided into two sub-spaces. First is the lounge (only half of which is complete), and a little further on is a very cozy bedroom/office
When building the main structure, I was struggling to add the scanner room in a way that I liked. That was until I decided to build it as a separate unit above the reactor room. It even has a nice little relaxing spot
Just behind the scanner room on a nearby cliff is my exterior farming setup, which suits my needs perfectly (and looks quite nice, I might add). All those crates and that scrap against the rock was painstakingly moved into place with the propulsion cannon
And on the opposite side of the base, is a little interior farming habitat, complete with a lovely workstation
And to finish off, here are some lovely wide-shots of the base in its entirety
When I put the finishing touches on the main habitat, you guys will be the first to know! Iâll also show off any outposts I set up
Oh my goood it looks good!
Absolutely loved the ideas and decor you put into it
And the wreck props! The wreck props!!!
I dont really see them used much, tho they are SO good when it comes to decorating outside
Thats really good base
Thank you, all
whatâs your power supply?
Four Thermal Reactors in a nearby cave
nice
thats very cool have you considered adding plants
Your alien containments look great! I've been getting better at interior decoration, but it's quite difficult, especially when large rooms are involved.
I did consider that, although I donât know how to properly decorate in any game
There is no proper way do whatever you feel best suits your base
Put counters and plant pots everywhere until it starts feeling pretty
This thing is looking absolutely fire
I will be taking the inspiration
Thank you!
here is my base and the interior of the more interesting rooms ik its kinda bad but im pretty new to base building
The exterior is extremely amazing - how many jellyrays do you have? I also quite like the look of the garden from above.
thirty or so
How many did you raise, and how many are wild?
What about crimson rays? Do they go against your theme?
Also, do you need the Prawn suit propulsion cannon arm for that?
yeah
yes and theyre a bit too annoying to move
I see. Are crimson rays annoying because of the biome they occur in, or intrinsically because of the size or behavior?
The biome they're in it makes it difficult to move them because of the danger and verticality
No matter how many bulk head doors I have, my base keeps âbreakingâ
Same
I had 1 large room, and a couple pipe tunnels to connect to the multipurpose room and it just got flooded. So I added the doors everywhere I could and it still didnât fix it so I had to get rid of the multipurpose room
And I canât even add a glass top to the large room either with out the same problem?
Base physics are weird sometimes, I also noticed that sometimes it just takes -1 away if you build glass and sometimes a weird number like -1,5 or -1,7
The subtraction is due to depth. Above 100 meters, I think, it has the basic penalty (-1) and it increases the deeper you go.
That explains it đ
Makes sense
Have you tried using reinforcement? That gives a much higher increase than bulkheads.
I low key forgot those exist lol
The only downside is that they take space that you could otherwise use for windows.
You can also use foundations
I finished my Island living base, there are not going to be any fabricators or such, itâs just a place to hang out
I like your design and glass usage. It looks like a lovely space to inhabit.
Thatâs fine, specially if I use the glass top. My base is currently close at 900 M down so I need as much reinforcement as possible lol
Craig field
Interesting...
Build in the ||Northern Blood Kelp Zone||.
I've never built there, I may try this.
My base I spend a couple days on
Putting the finishing touches on the main habitat module of my base, filling in all the empty space with decor and clutter. I even managed to find the blueprints for the alien containment unit!
In addition, hereâs my Cyclops decorations. Very limited due to oversights by the devs, which cause most wall items to float away from the actual wall
sick bases. when i build bases i go for practicality. fully kitted out cyclops, liveable in for as long as you need. then a small main base fully kitted out with moon pools and spare vehicles.
How many spare vehicles do you have?
In SN my main base always has two moonpools, for prawn and seamoth. Usually donât have spares of those. One save though I did go crazy and believe I had another prawn and total of 5 cyclopsâŚ
Current BZ play I have two Seatrucks and a prawn. I had planned to make more prawn and havenât gotten around to it yet.
What did you need 5 Cyclopses for?
Who said anything about need? LoL I was building a large base and by the time I built a docking area for the cyclops, I figured I needed another to go along side. Then thought a third would look cool. Then a 4thâŚ
Right - what did you do for the docking area?
Basically a number of I-compartments and some T sections. The I-compartments were about 75% the length of the Cyclops and were at surface level. I basically wanted them to look like a row of buoys floating on the surface. I think I may have some pics but Iâll need to dig, this was on the PS4 and I donât use that much since I got my Steam Deck.
any1 know how to expand a base?
What do you mean? All you need is the habitat builder, the necessary resources, and enough space, but are you asking for input on how to do it well?
idk rly
May I see your base? What do you want to add to it?
Multipurpose rooms need corridors in between, if that helps.
No they dont
rate my starterbase
Not too bad. Add a scanner module and youâre all set.
Just one solar panel, is that right? Iâd throw up one or two more when you have the chance. Easy enough to disassemble them later if needed.
Today I started out with a Bulb Zone base. Don't know if it will further develop but there will be more gardening. There's already a huge base in my favorite spot Safe Shallows.
Thatâs a cool biome.
looks great, i like the biome
those large bulbs are just free food too
Yeah it's great. In my previous playthroughs it was only passing by and never spend much time there. First I finally found the table corals there. They are everywhere when you know for what you're looking for.
what is the location?
on the left you can make out Lifepod 12 under my office.
oh i see now, smart
i have a bioreactor aswell
Some pictures of my storage base located in the Lilypad Biome near ||Omega Lab||.
I like how the Seatruck dock is visible through the large room's ceiling.
The ||Lilypad Islands|| are one of my favorite biomes.
Never thought to use lockers and partitions that way, super cool!
Only problem is that I might need to add even more storage, as I went mining in the Crystal Caverns and am running out of storage.
That's a really good deal. I might create a second storage base or rework the current one to include them. Good thing is that I have all the resources needed to create multiple bases without issues.
is it okay to build my base under the spawning pod 5?
Yeah, but it might be more beneficial to build it somewhere with better resources, and such.
But thereâs nothing wrong with it
It looks good... I've always liked the idea of a little base with an X-compartment. What biome did you build it in?
looks like midnight crag field to me or it is the void
but it's somewhere deep because even a bit of light doesn't reach
I'm a pioneer of rocket penthouses, the neptune booster's hitbox is a little weird so most of the supports are just dangeling off the side but i don't think they intended for people to build on it.. thats just me though.
you don't get views like this in the lost riverđŞ
Your base is very nice, I love the location (Rocket thrusters got to be one of my favorite biomes)
Love the prawn standing watchâŚ
he's finally free from fighting leviathans (i don't know how i'm going to get him down)
Just build some I-compartments and a vertical connector. Or leave him there for future visitors to worship as a god.

I actually quite like this base. In my opinion, compact bases look much better than sprawling ones.
I did not know that was possible. I've never built the ||Neptune escape rocket|| (until today in a Creative game; the interior looks very comfortable).
Bases that blend in/fit in to neat spots have my heart the really big ones just don't look right idk what it is about them
That's partly why I think large rooms are problematic, though they can definitely be nice if you try.
I like building bases where they are not the most prominent feature of the terrain. It makes them feel more natural.
Actually my last SN base I built right on the other side of that wall, we were neighbors!
I like having a mansionâŚ. đ
how could one single person use this much space lmao
How many large titanium deposits did you destroy to make that?
atleast you have space for you 6 trillion titanium ores
I'm guessing you also needed quite a bit of lead for those foundations.
There are so many lead deposits in that spot, when I was building there i'd go out and think "oh nice a titanium deposit" then i'd go up to it LEAD next one LEAD IT WAS ALL LEADđ
I don't really spend much time in the ||Mountains||, but I think I remember the lead deposits...
Its good if you wanna teleport somewhere or if you wanna throw hands/drills with reapers
I've had good luck with time capsules there as well.
Yeah, lots of lead and titanium in that picâŚ
Canât really tell but that back left corner had the foundations a bit higher, did that for easier access to the two moonpool back there.
Those plants took forever to place the way I wanted. Never did really finish the middle parts with the plants. I wanted a lot more originally.
Now that you point it out, I can definitely see that.
Didn't you just plant creepvine?
Creepvine alternating with the bloodroot, or whatever itâs called. The silver color reflects the light quite well.
The middle grow beds had almost every plantable plant that I could find. Though I may have missed one. I was going to go through the wiki again to be sure, but started playing BZ again instead. LoL
Which was the one you might have missed?
Thatâs what Iâm not sure of. With all the available plants Iâm just guessing that I probably missed something.
I asked because your wording suggested that there was a specific one you might have missed. There are quite a large number that can be grown, especially when compared to Below Zero.
That said, I like almost all of the Below Zero plants. Antennae plants look especially nice, in my opinion, and they're very useful.
True. Sadly BZ has a number of plants that are just scenery and canât be collected. Especially with all the beautiful creatures in that game.
I understand about many of them, but I would love it if things like the reaper's wineglass, pouch bulb, jade membrane, polycage, violet snowcone, and those unnamed, latticed green plants that grow in the ||Glacial Basin|| could be harvested and grown.
Iâm holding out hope that they might go back and fix some bugs, and maybe add in some of the various requests the community has commented on over the years around the time that the next game is completed. Would make for an outstanding three pack.
What requests/bugs are you thinking of?
Just scroll back through the bug reports channel. LoL thereâs a pretty good list there. I know a fair bit is being at the mercy of the game engine, but other things like the items in the game could be expanded on. More seeds in BZ, more habitat builder items, things we find in the game that we canât scan/create, etc.
Interestingly, there are several plants in Below Zero that are obviously more than generic grasses/plants but can't be scanned. For example, the cliff lantern, mace plant, and two unnamed plants from the ||Deep Lilypads Cave|| are fairly prominent, yet the game has no information about them.
Yup. It was said that they ran out of time to do the graphics for the seeds and intermediate stages of growth, but no idea how accurate that was.
I wonder what the plans for the frosted leaves plant, snake plant, spine plant, and armored plant were.
my base after two week in survival
it's a lot of pictures but before the alien base base and the rocket penthouse this was my main base through the game.
live love sub lyfe
also i was picking up random scrap with the gravity canon and i saw the back of this one (which was just metal) and thought i'd make a cool diving board out of it but it's a menu from the aurora!?
i can bring it into my base from the moonpool but i can't pick it up inside the baseđ
and you can gmod flight glitch it lmao
I don't know if this helps, but if you save, quit and reload, the plate loses the gravity aspect, so you can jump on it all you want without it falling
That is a well-decorated Cyclops. I like the bedroom area in particular, but you arranged everything well. (Go, sea treaders!)
I have a base there... though it's low down at the entrance, so I can still stick a Cyclops in there.
Mate that isn't the worst place
What about the ||sea Emperor containment||
Isnt the gate into the containment right outside of my base in that picture? The only real differance is that I couldn't bring a cyclops down there
Can you even build down there?
Dunno
But no your base is not near containment it is the quarantine facility
Aka the big gun
You can build stuff inside the sea emperor facility, I've done it before
king of the hill
this is just cruel
imma do it rn
My base is still a work in progress but I love it so far
how did this person get these plants?
Mods. they also have a tiny bench which is only available in wrecks
I don't know, but it's a popular one
where do I find such things?
That seems like a question for #subnautica-modding (I genuinely don't know the answer)
Pretty sure those mods can only be used in Legacy since the update broke a lot of older mods
No, this is actually a mod called "decorations mod", which works on 2.0, however there might be some libraries issues when used with other mods
See you can build in it
I wanna build a cyclops in it
And other places cyclops aren't meant to be
I also want to build the rocket in it
My base still needs some decorating but other than that I think it's good đ
Did you really kill the only funny thing in the lava zone and put a base on it
I mean who wouldn't
Would love to see the insides
dooooooooooooooooors
a lot of mods already catched up.
Decided to throw my hat in the ring when it comes to designing bases that look cool. Don't mind my leviathan friend. I call him Tiny and he's real nice lol.
Yeah the big guys like Tiny are attrackted to crash into bases and stay there forever in some saves. And the interior design. Could you fill all the Big Rooms?
The stack of big rooms on the left is for living quarters, auxiliary power, water production, and general storage. The stack on the right is for containment tanks, growbeds, and general science stuff
Haven't finished fleshing out the interior just yet
mainly only have the living quarters finished
I'd like to see it when you're ready to show us.
đ
0.2
0.2 in a scale from 0 to 0.2 is a pretty good score
Here are all the "Rooms" (three are missing due to them beeing only storage)
And here are all my Aquariums (I tried to keep everything Biome Matched)
Donât mind the line going up, itâs just another moonpool with my seamoth above 900 meters
What biome is the one with the cuddlefish?
Also, I love the blood kelp tank with mesmers and crabsquid!
The cuddlesfish one is just random plants because I didnât know what biome I should make
The eye stalk plant looks nice in ACUs, I think.
There are several spots to find the Cuddlefish eggs
Thank you! I was actually asking about which biome was simulated in the tank, not where the eggs could be found.
I think itâs Sparse Reef
I think all the "essential" plants would look nice in an ACU. Never tried. I'd love to plant small mushroom trees.
I wish; unfortunately it is impossible. It does make sense with the lore that states that the main trunk structure can be over 50,000 years old.
I quite like ghost weed as well.
Would be funny if you could plant the fungal sample, but it would take years in the game to sproutâŚ
just crazy hard to light XD
Alternatively, since it's a sample from the cap, and I believe the "tree" is composed of multiple organisms, perhaps just the leathery cap would grow in a growbed/alien containment.
Itâs a mushroom, I believe, so this wouldnât happen.
Unless you salavaged spores, then nothing would grow
Since spores are typically located in the cap, however, itâs likely that it should if weâre consider earth organisms.
I don't quite understand your point.
Are you saying that it shouldn't grow because it's a sample, not spores?
That it makes sense that a sample would grow
It should grow because of the spores
If the sample were from anywhere else, it shouldnât grow unless spores randomly drifted there
Right, that's a good point. Mushroom trees are very interesting.
But having it take a long to grow makes sense
Mushrooms are either a grow and die in a few weeks, or live to be 100 years old kinda thing
Then again, they don't typically grow on coral underwater.
I believe only the main coral structure is said to be extremely old. It doesn't say anything about the caps...
Fungi grow pretty much anywhere
The coral is likely quite old
That's a good point... fungus-like organisms are certainly found underwater on 4546B, including the acid mushroom.
Wait, are there aquatic fungi on Earth?
There are fungi pretty much everywhere on earth
observatory style base (creative mode)
I love how many growbeds you've utilised...
if i was a reaper id mess up that base with pride 10/10
The Mansion
those reapers gon eat you
is this in dunes?
WIP đ§ I got bored so Iâm building a communications tower.
Aurora the new triple view with a glimpse towards the end of my sun terraces.
yo can plant jelly shrooms?
Looks like the border between SW grassy plateaus and sparse reef
Indeed you can! Crabsnakes come separately, though.
bros got 5g internet
What a ripoff!
sparse reef border on grassy plateaus
yesh
made a HUGE lava base. Nearing the size of my shallows base. here is a picture.
I did it on my PDA because i don't want to go through the lost river again.
Did you build that in Creative mode? If not, it's very impressive to gather so many resources.
I feel like a gust of wind is gonna come and knock it over at any moment.
Just got my second base done in the under water islands now Iâm going done to the lava zone
No, I did this in freedom mode. I edited out the health and O2 and replaced it with some water from farther away. And yes, it took a MONTH to get the resources needed to do this, and I am planning to go all the way to the Aroura. That means I have to get a lot more resources. After, I am going to do the same thing in survival.
That's amazing! Where do you get your titanium?
Limestone Outcrops, and metal salvages. But I usually get it from the Crash Zone.
Not from deposits?? Thats impressive icl
||going to lava lakes to show lava base ||
btw this is from the cyclops
very far and very long
Your dedication is auit impressive
I never realized how much metal salvage is in that singular biome.
You can have tons of metal salvage in almost every surface biome. From Shallows, to Mountains. But most you find in crash zone.
I haven't had much luck with metal salvage in the ||Mushroom Forest||.
That doesn't mean that you're wrong, though.
Most of the time I collect everything I need from grassy plateaus, kelp and crash zone. But since I explore other biomes more. I figured you have scrap metal everywhere especially around wrecks.
That sounds about right, though in my experience, metal salvage is much more common in the Safe Shallows than the Grassy Plateaus.
There's also a lot in the ||Bulb Zone||.
In my experience Grassy Plateaus rule per Wreck you have to go twice with a seamoth and 4 storage modules to get them all per wreck. And scrap metal is scattered all over the map. Even the Dunes and Mountains have plenty.
I actually get a lot from the Dunes, partly because it's near my base.
