We get the biome maps from the files.
But we have to put our own coords for places of interest on there manually, which is why they maps are all outdated.

If you know a way to get the coords for stuff straight from the code and accurately add them to the map that'd help a lot.

well we'll still need to provide some coords for stuff like the ilz entrances because I don't think those are explicitly marked in the code, but it should still be possible to have it automatically mark them on the map based on their in game coords

Even just getting the coords for things like leviathans, wrecks, and thermal vents would help a lot.
And it does appear to be to scale, with one pixel being one meter.

The pixel position of any point in the game on that 4096 biome map is simply x= (pointx+2048), y = (pointz+2048)
Although it may need a bit of rotating but thats trivial
Heat sources like vents are stored in the batches too, so that's convenient
Although due to the nature of deserializing every single entity cell in the world and querying them it would take like 15 minutes to generate the whole map
Which is still probably magnitudes faster than manually creating a map 🤔

When I made my leviathan map finding where the origin was and then writing down the ingame coords and placing them down a certain distance from that origin point took quite a long time.

We've talked a little bit about downloading the wiki and hosting it ourselves. No promises, but we hate the ads on Fandom too.

FANDOM has ads, but it also has many good features--.css and JavaScript allowances, Forums/Discussions, and Chat are the ones I think of right away.
Given the choice between http://subnautica.wikia.com/wiki/Subnautica_Wiki?useskin=oasis (FANDOM) and http://subnautica.wikia.com/wiki/Subnautica_Wiki?useskin=monobook (probably all other wiki hosts out there) for a layout, I would prefer the former--but that's just me.

Aquariums max amount of fish isn't based on the amount of fish
but rather the total inventory size taken up
That includes fish and eggs in the aquarium
Fish won't breed or lay eggs once the limit is reached
Also it takes half the maturation time for a fish to be ready to breed again
If you want, I can compile a list of fish maturation times and egg hatch times
and you can work your wiki magic and make them look cool in a list or something

Standing at your pod you're in safe shallows, Heading towards the Aurora I believe is south in game. So North takes you towards the Dunes, East takes you towards the Mountains region and Mushroom tree area, West takes you towards the Blood kelp, and South takes you obviously to the ship but next to it will be the grand reef.
