Well, it gets damaged and shows leak inside, but it actually won't fill with water. It needs to take lot of damage before it explodes.

Creature attacks have cooldown; after attack they won't attack again for a short time.

and yeah creature attacks cooldowns and decoys make it pretty easy

Not sure of the exact health amount of the 'overshield', but yes; that's how cyclops works. The top part of the health bar is self-regenerating and doesn't cause hull breach.
