Subnautica 2 should introduce paleonthology, it should make a new machine to interfere with DNA of fossils and create a new set of arms for the exosuit
You can get a part of a fossil of any skeleton and "incubate" it, you can make a habitat for it and even bring it to life, obviously with thet they should bring more fossils of herbivorous fish, not only the gargantuan, that snakelike fossil that I forgot the name and etcetera, but like make an ecosystem of ancient creatures would be very fun, we should get like ancient peepers and other animals (thinking about the evolution of dinos into chickens or something)
I'm thinking like the jurassic world movie, when they create the dinos, they put frog DNA into it to fill in some spaces in its genectics, getting samples of living creatures dnas and implementing them into many fossils should be very fun to do

so i think the best route would be to beeline to the floating island for the various base bps there, (especially the planters) and grab some blood oil and deepshrooms while youre over there so you can get those growing asap, then to go get the prawn and ||neptune|| bps. in between those youre looking for scanner room frags and moonpool frags (the other bps that would make this easier are the upgrade console and the drill + grapple arm but those are all near each other by keen so you can get those while youre grabbing the plants there)
