If you're offline on Steam they'll work, if you don't have a connection they won't.

And in vanilla they don't appear in the scanner room. But there is a mod for that if you play on PC.

Oh you have an aquarium on the top too. What looks really nice, is to build two multipurpose rooms on top of each other, build an aquarium in the lower one and making all the walls green. Then the aquariums gets filled with creatures and plants of choice (kelp is a good one), before shutting the entire lower room off (no hatch or ladder). The top room now has a really cool floor.

you can solo leviathans with the prawn with little experience

literally the only things you need to complete the game are an mvb and cyclops (not even to use). you dont need to scan anything else
