near the ||degasi base (500m) is a good place. I would bring 4-6 extra vehicle batteries and a few equipment batteries, 6 units of water, and all your tools, as well as ion cubes and tablets. and the stasis rifle||

you kind of need the prawn eventually. but in my game I haven't even built one yet

You for sure should get prawn and drilling arm, as there's lots of valuable clusters of minerals

And if you do use cyclops then i recommend Taking more, maybe even 8 of upgrade batteries (idk whats it called in english) as you will lose lots of energy on silent Mode or on running away and defending from ghosts

mk3 for seamoth ||900m will let you explore all of lost river but not anything deeper. and there are 1 or 2 rooms where you'll have to park the seamoth and get out.||

In the Dunes there's so much prime real estate for Reaper-watching, and it's so easy to find time capsules there, not to mention there's enough minable quartz there to last a fee lifetimes.

I mean, look at this shot I got with a camera drone

The spots to set up observatories for Reapers in the Dunes are near-unrivaled

Aside from maybe the Crash Zone Mesas which I also built in last save.

I set my first base up in Jellyshroom in my current hardcore run because the erupting vents down there are easily the best heat source for thermal plants in the game (along with the vents below the underwater islands).

4 thermal plants in those erupting vents keeps 2 water filters, scanner, moonpool, and multiple power cell and battery chargers running simultaneously without breaking a sweat

And I never have to refuel it at any point.

When I build my Northern Blood Kelp megaproject base I'm gonna use the vents under the underwater islands to power it with thermals.

You get some lore, some cubes I think, and a cuddlefish egg from going inside (it’s optional though)
