Correction, according to a playtester

No they won't respawn. In Subnautica it's very simple. Aggressive fishes don't respawn if killed by you, except the warpers (due to how they're designed), void leviathans, crash fish (unless you destroy their plant).

That includes smaller aggressive fishes. Biters, bleeders, even ||lava larvae||.

There is a significant amount of them though.

Sea to Sea aims to rework a bunch of stuff but it can get grindy and kinda annoying to find/get through some things
If you're willing to take on something spooky try out Act 1 of The Red Plague (horror mod, I know some folks on the team so I'm shilling for them)

I would say the mesmer is the least dangerous. It does decent damage but nothing crazy, it's rare (I didn't see one until my second playthrough), and you can manage to break the hypnotising while it's pulling you in

The Seamoth perimeter defense system helps defend against creature attacks by releasing an electrical charge
