For the bioreactor, it is the best renewable resource for deep bases that have zero thermal nearby.
I personally steal crabsquid eggs, place them in a big aquarium in a big room, same room as my nuclear reactor and bioreactor.
They will hatch and they will breed. Every time there’s at least 3 in there, you can grab one and chuck him in the bioreactor, or just start storing them in your storage for power later.
With the bioreactor, you could take all the materials you need in a cyclops to build an entire self-contained and self-sufficient ecosystem of a base. All you need is materials and the fish for breeding.
I suppose I could add mesmers in too. Due to the crabsquids size in the inventory, I still have a bunch of spots in the bioreactor that I could put small fish into.
