Why? My way is put a chair on your cyclops bridge and when you come close power off the engine and watch until it goes away then move on. You can also use decoys it's very effective. But usually you don't have to face any reaper to beat the game. Even in the dunes you can avoid them when you know what you're looking for.

I also do 100% runs. The Dunes wrecks I do with seaglide because I know the way by heart and otherwise my cyclops strategy works very well and Decoys are totally underrated. My best advice always run on slow mode and power off your engine as soon a reaper comes to your radar on the right. And then sit there and watch until it goes away. Slow but no reaper contacts and in case of emercency a decoy.
