It isn't that rare for them to die though. Because sure they won't die with one or two encounters, but if you have predators around your base they'll drain their HP little by little. Especially if you ram into them.

my first mega base used so much power it needed 10 thermo reactors around 15 or so solor panels and 2 nuclear reactors maybe i shouldnt have that many water machines

so first there are nuclear rods and control rods nuclear rods are the ones that react and generate huge energy which is then transferred to water therefore making the water hot control rods control the temperature of the reactor then the hot water is turned into steam and pushed through a generator that makes energy which then goes on grid and the remaining water can be circulated back into the reactor
