The map in the scanner rooms gets bigger, the things you can see with a scanner hud chip stays the same

Speed upgrades are generally not necessary unless you’re a bit impatient, but it’s a matter of personal preference

Also, when you have the HUD chip, you are still going to have the scanner room mark things all the way out to 500m without any range upgrades.
You just won’t see all the topographic holographic detail of where they’re located while you are inside the scanner room, without adding the range upgrades (which imo doesn’t generally matter once you’re out in the environment looking for the little HUD pings, but if you really think it completes the “experience” then add the range upgrades, personal preference and all that)

So, I'm dogsitting at a relative's house for a week. I brought my laptop, and I got permission to hook up to their big living room tv, which has a sick soundbar setup. So, I figured I'd give it a try with Subnautica.

This was the best bad decision I've made in a long time.

Holy crap does this setup give the game a different feel. Everything is so much louder and sounds so much more real. I'm flinching at every noise. And worst of all, it's so dark because I play on Filmic as a soft rule.

To make matters worse/ better depending on your perspective, I just made a trip down to the ||Inactive Lava Zone|| to pick up some Kyanite...

Now, this is part of my "no seabase" run where I can't make a base for anything except the Vehicle Upgrade Console, so naturally, I had to take my cyclops... Which was low on Power. See, in my head this was fine because I would just grab some ||Kyanite|| and make a ||thermal reactor module||... Only one problem.

I didn't have any salt to make hydrochloric aside and by extension, Polyanaline, so no ||thermal reactor.||

So I started panicking. At first, I tried to find the entrance to the ||alien thermal plant|| so I could ||open the gate that leads back to the Quarantine Enforcement Platform|| so I could grab some salt from the surface... One problem with that. The ||sea dragon|| was close by, and I was on 16% power, which wasn't nearly enough to stick around to find the entrance.

To cut a long story short, I ultimately chose to go back the way I came up to the ||Cove Tree|| and just try to get as far as I could. I thankfully got away from the ||Sea Dragon|| before running out of power, but I wasn't out of the woods yet. I had to get in my prawn suit and get the heck out of there. And there were still ||warpers and Lava lizards|| around.

I made it out of the Lava Zone... But not with my dignity in tact XD Hearing the ||warper|| noises with surround sound scared me senseless. I actually saw one coming towards me and my flight or fight kicked in, so I drilled it in the face XD It took a small chunk of out of my prawnsuit (11%), but nothing major.

The plan is to grab some copper in the ||Lost River|| so I can try to make some more powercells at the lifepod, and then make triple sure I have everything I need prefabricated and ready to go before I go back down... Wish me luck y'all
