To access the documentation of Unity directly from Visual Studio, Go to Debugging -> Options, then in Environment -> Keyboard, look up for 'Help.UnityAPIReference' and set the shortcut again, as it might not work.
In Tool for unity, change 'Use external browser' to True, I've also activated Automatic class renaming.
nvm Automatic class renaming doesn't work, but the other stuff works fine π π

Hey peeps, so I am a games design lecturer and obviously during these times I am working remotely. Due to this I have started a YouTube channel to make tutorials in 3D modelling (to begin with) and I will later move on to a video series teaching you how to make a game from scratch to finish in Unity, and then another series within UE4.
I don't have many videos yet. But I plan to upload a minimum of 1 a week, (this week iv uploaded 2 already!) I will be doing challenges and other stuff in the future, but for now, I am creating tutorials for 3D. If you are interested then go and check my channel out here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPPfDcwQwHEkHjVlwmEMp2g/

Hi, all. I gave a series of talks on physics constraints in games in Taiwan, and here is a re-recording of part 1, constraint basics, in English.
I'm in the process of re-recording part 2 & 3, where I'll talk about collision contact constraints and soft constraints (numeric springing).
Even though the examples are made in Unity, the underlying math is independent of the tools & engines. I hope you find it useful!

@neat veldt I took a look at them and honestly they are kinda dull and just not very interesting. I'd recommend the Complete C# Unity Developer 2D course on Udemy instead (it's like $12 - 15, always on sale): https://www.udemy.com/course/unitycourse/
Unity premium tutorials are free for 20 or more days idk for sure
Hello I already know c# and I've written many console programs. But I have no experience with Unity, I don't know how to make animations or sprites as well. Do you know a tutorial where they teach Unity without teaching if/else, classes, methods etc.(basically where they don't teach coding fundamentals)?
@buoyant lintel learn.unity.com has short tutorials that do mention the code but show you specific topics. Currently it's all free for the next month or so.
@buoyant lintel I started a few days ago. If you want to create 2d games watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMr1sHQ0_bc&list=PLpj8TZGNIBNy51EtRuyix-NYGmcfkNAuH (its a bit slow so I watch it at x1.75 speed). In my opinion those videos also help to undertrand unity better.
this will sound a little ridiculous, but does anyone have any blogs, tutorials, or just tips where to start trying to make something like the island tune editor in animal crossing in unity?
@velvet holly @sweet mauve thanks

Hi
Can anyone suggest some good tutorials or courses for learning how to create Hyper-Casual games in Unity?
@robust geyser At what level are you starting?
@white umbra I know a little bit of unity, I've worked on a very small AR/VR project in unity once.
I am software developer by profession so I am good on the coding front.
@robust geyser This channel is only for posting tutorials. You can ask for help in #unity-dev - For tutorials, you can start with learn.unity.com (which is free at the moment) or read through the backlog of this channel. But please don't ask for specific tutorial topics here.

hey all
i have NO prior game development experience but i had a fun idea that i wanted to try out
i want to make a small rpg similar to the original final fantasy game
unity was recommended but i have zero idea what i would be doing
i dont know how to code or anything
so if anyone could help me get started
that would be wonderful
Hey guys, i made a new youtube channel in which i will upload my game development related videos
please support my channel this is my first video about how i am making my first android game in unity thank you
@jovial ravine for starters, I highly recommend you do not start by making any sort of RPG game. RPGs can be complex and it's not advised you start trying to develop one until you have a better understanding of the engine you're using and the programming language you will be using
Unity has great beginner tutorials on their website. I would just start by checking some of those out and getting familiar with Unity. if you have zero programming knowledge, see https://unity3d.com/learning-c-sharp-in-unity-for-beginners

Morning folks, I have a hopefully simple question. I am trying to get a minecraft FPV quadcopter mod I found on youtube working. I am trying to import the map into the unity scene but can't tell the scene object what to look for in regards to a map object. Absolutely brand new noob with unity.. hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

This is what I followed so far
@hard oak So... tutorials isn't the right place for discussions or help. Go to unity-dev. Secondly, you'll need to give more than just the video about what the guy made - tell them what you're trying to achieve, where you're stuck, what the error/problem is, what you think the problem might be, and what you have already tried to solve it. That gives the best chance of someone being able to understand what you need and give you a useful answer.
Appreciate the response. Thanks!
Hello, I'm new here and I'm new to unity. I'm a software developer and worked for 6 years with C#. You might think I want to code things in unity, but I'm more interested in understanding the control elements and how to interact with them. My goal for next week is to create a mini project without much coding effort. Do you have any suggestions where to start?

if you want to learn C# fundamentals this online book is one of the best places.
After each chapter there is problems to solve and after these problems - tips and hits to achieve solution or idea how to solve given problem.
Also there is special chapter (Chapter 21) for High Quality Code.
It is must read thing for C# developer. I saw a lot of people that are beginners in coding and they are going straight to unity scripting and some of them literally writing "spaghetti" code, or not using language properly.
Also i recommend https://exercism.io/ for problem solving. Problems there will give you algorithmic thinking and better problem solving skills!

not a unity specific tutorial but here in this documentary-ish video i talk about what makes a game fast!
This is a really good platformer tutorial series for beginners, i had some programming knowledge so i kind of already knew how some logic works but i barely ever actually programmed and i haven't used unity in a few years so i was kinda starting from the beginning, and i went through the full course in a few days
In the end i had a very simple platformer but he explained everything really well and i actually understood everything i was doing
Sometimes he gives you lil challenges to try something you learned before on your own so you can learn better
He does sometimes tell you he doesn't use the best practices for simplicity sake so it's good for beginners to learn how to make your first game
I learned quite a bit in those few days

character select tutorial
I know this little bit of code info I wanted to share about programming that will drastically improve how clean your code is when programming with c#.
It's called Expression-bodied members for the example I am going to be using unity to explain this let's say you have a function that loads a scene in unity let's say for a pause menu.
How many lines do you think this would take including the function at least three lines seems reasonable.
How about only 1 line of code?
public void mainMenu() => SceneManager.LoadScene("Title");
Please @ me if this has helped you. Also here is a link to the documentation have a good day. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/csharp/programming-guide/statements-expressions-operators/expression-bodied-members

@potent tulip If you have the option, I suggest buying one or more courses on Udemy.
They usually cost about $10-12 each and provide a complete and structured path for you to learn 0 to 100 and they also offer help via their forums if you get stuck.
A good place to start:
- 2D Course: https://www.udemy.com/course/unitycourse/
- 3D Course: https://www.udemy.com/course/unitycourse2/
A few tutors I recommend:
- GameDev.tv: https://www.udemy.com/user/gamedevtv (Unity, Grant Abbot for Blender)
- Wilmer Lin: https://www.udemy.com/user/wilmerlin2 (Unity, lighting )
- Penny de Byl: https://www.udemy.com/user/holistic3d/ (math, shaders, procedural)
- Gabriel Aguiar: https://www.udemy.com/user/gabriel-aguiar-3 (Visual effects)
- Blackthornprod: https://www.udemy.com/user/blackthornprod-2/
Remember to never pay more than $10-15 for a course there. They always have discounts. If there is no discount when you look, open the same page in incognito mode a few times and you'll get the discount eventually π

However, that's really just watching the videos. And it isn't the full game tutorial. Just the FPS specific elements (FP view, gun swapping, ammo, sniper scope, etc).
Some teams often ask: Why is my game loading so slow, can it be possible to cut scenes like other games? What is the reason why the game makes the device temperature rise? In order to prevent the game that you have worked so hard from getting stuck on the real device or the turn into a hand warmer, we must make full use of the loading module and resource management module in the UWA report, and we will analyze it step by step:

A great blogger I like is:

UI animation generally does not need to configure its various state transitions in the Animator Controller, because these transitions often need to be directly manipulated by code.Β For example, a UI window often has open and close states (denoted as Open and Close), but generally speaking, there is no need for automatic switching between them, and no transition (Transition).Β So you can think of a couple of ways to do this:
Some Details of UI Animation in Unity Animator

This is how we make the backgrounds have different level of blur. You will need to stack cameras with different Volumes.
https://twitter.com/DolusTheGame/status/1497247519033761797
Each camera will film a specific background layer and will have it's own volume assigned. The volumes will have different blur values. I am sharing this since I struggled a lot to find a solution on this topic myself. Hope it helps someone π
This solution is only working with alpha version 2022.1.0a13 of Unity and with URP version 13.1.
Rendering is a topic that cannot be escaped in the optimization of mobile devices. As the bulk of performance cost, almost all games are inseparable from the rendering of scenes, objects, and special effects. How to achieve the best balance between excellent visual effects of the scene and smooth running has always been a headache for game designers, artists, and also programmers.

Hello.
Today's video is made at the request of channel subscribers, in which we are going to learn how to move our character to the position where we click with the mouse, but this time in 3D so that it is not exactly the same as the video previous one that I did in 2D and to add concepts we are also going to add NavMeshAgent so that our character can dodge the objects scattered around the scene, to reach the point where we click with the mouse.
Greetings and I hope to see you all here.

Hello.
In today's video we are going to learn to limit by code the frames per second to which our game moves, because we cannot make the graphics render non-stop a thousand frames per second, because we are making it work excessively without having to of it and if our game runs on mobile instead of on PC we are going to run out of mobile battery very quickly. For this reason I am going to teach you today to limit the framerate of our video games.
Greetings and I hope to see you all here.
