#character lock

Isn't this why you should learn more than 1 character bro
Feels like it takes away the point of having a hunter pool and just lets one tricks abuse broken broken characters and on top of that it makes queue times longer for all of this
If they added this then you can't really change your character after seeing your teamates characters
If they did that it would literally just be whoever picked the character first gets it.
Would genuinely be more infuriating then your character being occasionally stolen
Its not stupid if its true
Ive played games with that system and having the character you want to play be stolen by someone who has better internet connection is infuriating
No you wont because if its up to you you'll play 1 character and abuse one tricking for elo
It is a part of the game that you have to be able to react to your team mates picks and build a competent team comp
Which means you may have to play a character you didnt originally want to play
I refuse to get ragebaited in a discussion thread again
Fenrir is high on stupid juice today ig
Both versions have their pros and cons
i personally also prefer just having a character lock queue like Hots does it for example
But the problem with that kinda system is simply that it harms queuetimes which the devs put a large emphasis on, so currently its a choice that is toggled off by default
Theres no reason to be that hostile just because he prefers a different system
Its a preferential thing to begin with and imo should be by choice in most games
I did not know that "you should have to pick your character with your teams composition in mind instead of just instantly locking your one trick" was so controversial
Wait shit I got baited again
Maybe i am high on stupid juice
There is no such thing as comp in random matchmaking man
If you queue in and pick a character that works well within a comp but the comp needs to be executed well half of the time synergy will simply not exist and the comp wont work out
People have preference and also just are more talented towards playing something too, so sticking to something ure good at, isnt inherently wrong even if it isnt the best pick for the composition to work
Sticking to something your good at is not the same as one tricking is my thing tho
But then again, that wasnt why i called it stupid, I did because of ur inability to see that im not right just as much as youre not right, this is mostly a thing of preference, matchmaking and a ton of other factors that are literally subjective.
This guy is saying he wants to just pick ome character his entire time on vive
And you still act like the other side is outrageous for having that opinion lol
Yes
Why not
its a video game, get over it. People wanna have fun mostly and some simply want to have fun while sticking to one thing theyre good at
this isnt overwatch
yes. But if you make it an opt in thing, you could also reduce queuetimes for people that do not care about playing only one hunter.
everything has pros and cons.
I think compared to hots, it was something around 20% less time spent in a game if you choose to onetrick a popular hero
but if you play something unpopular it was around 50% more time spent ingame
thats years ago tho when the game still had a much bigger playerbase
and also from memory obviously
Part of the skill of the game is being able to play multiple characters and removing that takes away part of the learning curve that most people actually enjoy and makes the game easier in a way that is not satisfying
No thats part of what you think is skill expression within the game
Theres countless onetricks that compete in tournaments in this game too.
And they do adapt by just adapting their playstyle to new metas.
We even had voids in tournaments winning games when he was significantly weaker than meta
And the system (depending on implementation) could skew towards people with higher end pcs
Well mostly because Fatestrikes is simply the goat
If you get into a game and its just blind pick that inherently benefits people who load faster
you can choose to see skill expression within one thing, but that doesnt mean that people cant be expressive while onetricking too.
this is so miniscule that it genuienly does not matter.
And if its not and your pick is generated beforehand like fuckin swiftplay
That means you lose the ability to tailor your pick to your team
which again, if its by choice, it isnt a problem
Which is also a part of skill expression that should be preserved
I had nothing to say to that statement but the emote
I mean what am I gonna say
I disagree? No it isnt?
Nah man take the 🫃
xD
nah but genuienly, if that is an issue that affects enough people for it to be worth mentioning ur game has a much much much bigger issue that should have all your focus on it
I agree the game does have a much much bigger issue rhat should have all their focus on it
Several!
My thing is I just dont personally buy into the its preference argument
Like ofc if ur a one trick ur gonna perfer it. But that dosent mean your preference is something that should happen just bc you would like it
I have several issues with a feature like this because I think it impacts game health in a much more unhealthy way thats antithetical to how the game was original designed
And like I dont deny there is a level of skill expression in one tricking
Like before they killed cdr i was a felix one trick
no the entire preference thing just makes it a choice and psychologically, if you choose for longer queuetimes ure less bothered by it
thats the entire point
And ofc u had to adapt to the times I remember going from vamp to bubble to gacha to cdr when 1.0 dropped now to dogshit
If anyone else isnt affected or even gets better queuetimes as a result, everyones winning
I just think there are other dimensions of skill in this game that get impacted by that change in a negative way
the problem with SV specifically is simply that the game is so dammn small that this wouldnt work either way
its more of a thing to think about when the game actually gets to a point where we have more than 200 players xD
Yeah I mean obv
Im arguing on the principle of the matter right
Dis game is gonna have queues of hell no matter what
I think for the health of the game you have to be inconvinienced by stuff like this
Like even if ur not bothered the overall game gets worse
So you kinda got to hold it
but then again you make that choice
you can just opt out of it the moment u feel bothered by it
and take a compromise
I understand that but I dont think its your choice to make if that makes sense
Like if ur ok with making the game worse thats your decision but I dont think the devs should give you that option
Plus like I personally dont think it being an opt in thing works
Maybe its bc ive never played a game where its opt in
It feels to me like an all or nothing lever
for some people its worse to be forced off their onetrick for a game.
thats why again, its a preference thing if done right
Yeah but like thats some people vs the rest of the game population
Its like auto fill in league
Like yeah you would rather remove it and wait out your queue and other people may want that
But thay overwhelmingly makes the queues longer for everyone else and they may not have opted into something like that
Its not the exact same as this but its the same principle of like sometimes even if you want something and you would be okay with the downsides it affects others in a way that they didnt ask for
autofill isnt opt in.
Youre forced to.
It is a tool directly for queue health and queue health only
its a sacrifice everyone has to make
thats not what he or me are talking about at all
Imo autofill in league shouldnt even exist below a certain high elo threshhold, but then again, life service games are not made for u to have fun mainly, but for engagement to begin with
Yeah obv im talking about the argument people have with riot devs on being able to opt out out if it
so queuetimes matter alot to keep these games affloat, so leagues sacrifice for it makes sense, since roles matter in league and you already queue in with a role
you dont do that with sv
you do that with a much much more varied thing, a hunter with my example, so the pool should in theory be big enough to not affect queuetimes as significantly given a larger playerbase.
the comparison just sucks because again, its a sacrifice everyone has to make for it to work
In theory sure but I dont think that works in practice
I thought only averaging 500 players across 3 servers was the reqson of long queue times
We are arguing on the principle of the design decision as it relates to supervive
Neither of us think this would fix queue times rn
Queue times dont matter anymore tho in this game, will only get longer, just make open lobbies and anyone who wants to play joins
This is actually valid critique but low iqs with their personal favourite way to play will hate on u for it
queue times lol
yea right suck my pinis we have botsbin ranked in any rank anywya
fkn used them properly then atleast
instant headache when i think about dev decisions
This is the answer btw
Team comp barely matters at all and "one tricking for elo" doesn't exist you can play Eva and kill bots. You'll be in master in 2 days
The op is equally as outrageous actually
Thinking you deserve priority on a popular champ in a game with 2 active lobbies is downright stupid and a prime example of the community input being awful cause its normally just one guy going "ermmm why dont they cater to JUST ME specifically at the expense of others???"
Im a one trick but when my one trick gets taken by some silver like op I just pick someone else because 75% of the gameplay is killing bots anyway
Explaining the issues with it is much easier than pretending that it cant work. One side is willfully ignorant while the other isnt hence why i chimed in
Assuming that people dont know any better is always a better way to approach situations.
